Ace, this only applies if its not a customer selection for you concerning tonights NCAA championship game. What are your thoughts on the outcome of this game? I've already made my $10 selection and took Butler mostly due to them having been there and lost last year being a big factor in my selection. I started out doing really, really well on selections until about the final 16 where I was taking mostly the higher seeds. A lot of instances my team won but failed to cover. I know a lot of guys had the same luck and just threw their hands up in the air.
You can answer tomorrow or after tip off if you like, just curious as to what you see happening with this game...........thanks in advance, Bob

I think that Butler finishes the job this year and wins the national title game. They have beaten a bunch of excellent teams during this recent run and I think that the experience of having lost at the buzzer last year will pay off for them this time around. The Bulldogs are now 27-11 ATS in neutral site games and they are 18-5 ATS in their last 23 NCAA Tournament games. This number also gives us a little leeway in case this game comes down to the buzzer again.

I was thinking along the same lines!

Hey, how about those Phillies pitchers last weekend, 21 K's and only 1 walk. As long as the hitting continues this is gonna be quite a year!!

not sure...all I got is Johnson, 27, has spent six-plus seasons in the minor leagues, going 56-42 with a 4.55 ERA. The right-hander made one start at Triple-A Colorado Springs this season, allowing no earned runs in five innings.
Johnson is a career minor leaguer that has posted a 5.69 ERA in three seasons at Triple-A. If he is recalled for Sunday, then Johnson would be nothing more than risky NL-only stopgap option in daily leagues. If you're in a deep NL-only daily league and need an extra start this week, then you could do worse than taking a flier on Johnson, as he'll be pitching for one of the hottest teams in baseball. hope he does good in his started:)

Ace,
What is your take on the latest negotiations in the NFL? It seems when they make a step forward they take a step back. While I'm not exactly a big fan of the preseason, if they don't have one it will make the regular season harder to cap until possibly mid season. What do you think? Thanks!

I think this will be settle by July 10!...if it goes down later than that and there is no perseason games teams like GB that dont need new player will be the big winner...capping will change also...hard to cap new guys if you dont see them play...

plan is to come to Las Vegas on Aug 17 to join the hilton contest and come to the Bash.... In the hilton you only need 10 weeks to be a contest,,,this will happen...no way the whole season is lost.

ace what do you think about the new rule on kickoffs. most teams will probably start @ the 20 with touchbacks..

When the NFL moved the kickoff from the 35 to the 30 in 1994 , the number of returns increased 20% ( from 68% to 88%)over 15 years. Last season was 80%.

However , in my opinion, the game is a whole lot different than it was in 1994. The 80% from last year alone is an obvious sign. There are marquis kick returners that have changed the game dramatically compared to 1994.

The NFL says that this change is a "SAFETY" issue.....please spare me !!!! If you are so concerned about the safety of the players , then why increase the schedule to 18 games ? A bunch of bologny is what safety issues are.

In reality, I would expect kickers to up thier game several notches to higher kicks with longer hang times to pin the recieving team deep in thier own territory. In special situations , put it right out the back of the endzone.

The rule change may seem like a major deal as it was in 1994, but in reality, I think it only helps the teams scoring the points. Those are normally the teams that we are on...so I like the rule change wether it make a difference or not.

No big deal to me......I am pretty sure that ACE feels the exact same way

ACE,
I am looking for historical records in relation to ATS for any category. I thought I saw somewhere here where you had the last 15 years or so. I have not been able to locate what I was looking for in your thread. If you do have some of this info, can you direct me to where it is. Thank you.

Hey Ace,

A comment and a question.

First off, I just wanted to wish you the best of luck this season. You have been a wealth of information for me over the years and I can't tell you how much I appreciate it. I will be keeping my own spreadsheet this year using your formula with a couple of twists. If it works with any consistency, I will be using it next year and for the first time ever, entering the Hilton contest.

With that said, my question is...are you in the contest this year? What name will you be going under?
