Never, and if I were a proxy I would never expect a % of someone's winnings. That's their money and they earned it.

It is simple business. Let's say, you live in Chicago. If you were to fly out every week to enter the contest your cost on Airfare alone would total (assuming a great fare every time) $5100, not to mention how much is your time worth? If I were to win 500K and would not have had the opportunity if not for a proxy, I am not going to reject $485 because I have to payout $15K. So, would you rather collect 485K or 0?

This is no different than selling a house, you are paying a broker generally 6% (this is pretty easy to negotiate down).

some charge a percent some charge more up front.. some are lower cost overall.. bottom line is there is enough proxies and room for negotiation but balking over 3% of a win could be the start of you being in the final two weeks in the top 10 and someone forgetting to make your picks..

Im also running a proxy service this year... only have 2 people that said they will use me this year.

$300 and no commission.

Figured since I am mobile pretty much 16 hours a day AND I am also putting in my picks, its not out of my way at all.

So if anyone is interested, let me know

I might be interested.....

Its way different than selling a house. The contest has no guarantees. To fly out there every week would be ludicrous. The broker guarantees to sell your house or no %.You're comparing apples
with oranges.

People squawking over 3% (only if you win) over something they have no chance of reasonably doing without the person charging 3%..

If you leave the Selling of a house out, he still has a point.
Because unless you live in Ca or AZ you really couldn't make the trip out to Las Vegas every week.

I get where most people have a problem giving up a % of their winnings. I'm mean not sure about some, but if I pick up $2-$50K+ I'm giving the Guy a Tip either way.
Guess some people don't want to feel obligated to give out a Tip. They rather decide later on.

I have no problem giving a tip. With no mistakes throughout the season its worth it. Plus it puts your mind at ease for next season.

Balls-on accurate. Say it anyway you want to. Someone (many on here) that would argue over 3%, when they could not even enter any other way.... that is approaching weapons grade ignorance.

Correct as usual Fish. The first and second have an indispensable role (since so many entrants are out-of-towners) as long as the picks have to be made in person. All about the bucks. Some smuck brings in an entry and might lay down a whole five dollars on the roulette layout as he leaves the sports book. Every little small skinning helps keep the lights on.

FISHHEAD I believe charges $200 0% commission. And he gets all the proxies he can handle. No complaints and makes a nice chunk of change.
Can't see what possibly could be wrong with that. Especially living right in Vegas. Guys complain they can't find a place to park or they have to
wait in line. LOL PLEASE YOU'RE KILLING ME! Once you do it a couple of times its like anything else, it becomes routine. There's no way the
contest is busy 24/7. JMO
