No shit! And it still equivalent to $55k total, or a little less than EACH player would bring home.

Well I heard that Sharky is only charging 5% of winnings.

and I know there are plenty of guys out there that can be Trusted. But I know for a Fact I can Trust Sharky.
I don't mind giving him a % of my winnings, which I did 2 years ago

I would do 5%, as we agreed to 3-5% off the top, but 10% is ridiculous no matter how you slice.

Fishy is just as dependable and a much better deal. When he is doing it again, looking at someone else shouldn't even be an option IMO.

Personally I would pretty hesitant to be a proxy even for $250 and 10% of the so called "winnings". It is a real pain in the ass and the chances of any single player winning anything is small...... so likely you are working for the $250. 10% is only ridiculous if you make the rather silly assumption that any particular player is going to win something.

Anyone who has ever spent time trying to find a parking spot at the LVH sportsbook and then stood in line for 40 minutes to get to the counter knows what I am talking about....... maybe at Cantor I would do it..... but the LVH has the worst customer service in Vegas.

I see it differently. If you have 20 people you proxy for, that's $5k upfront, and also a 1 in 50 chance of placing. Not bad, although I don't think any of our proxy's players cashed, but IDK about the other in question.

Like stated, if I lived in LV, I would be all over trying to do this...Maybe I'm wrong, but $300 extra income a week is pretty damn good for a part-time job, not including a chance at a bonus.

Agree completely Matty!

And Cyyyk, had not thought about what you said. If the wait is that long.... CS that bad...... why would anyone ever set foot in the joint now.... other than the contest?

Have not been there for a few years.

$1500 plus $250 for the proxy.

Wow , $250 seems cheap. That would come to about $14.70 per week , that shit would get old after the 4th or 5th week.

I guess if you had 10 people and it was 147 per week it might be worth it , but then again , getting picks from 10 different people and getting the picks in would be like a part time secretarial job.

If you had 20 clients then I agree it would be a pretty good gig at that point.

The way I see it, proxies make out pretty well from the start.

If you can just get 17(one for each week of the Season). That $250x17= $4250 and $250 a week. Better than getting a second job would pay. Sign me up...
if he has no one that cashes he literally makes nothing. as the posts above show it is hardly worth the gas, time, and aggravation every week for 17 weeks. and its three [minimum] trips per week, and you have to be available every week, all the time, cause if you miss or make one mistake it will potentially cost somebody a large amount of money. Sharky has had numerous cashes and two overall winners. sometimes you get what you pay for, like the proxy who just stopped making picks after 10 weeks or so.

Still less time and aggravation of having a part time job with mandatory hours. Great gig still for me with better pay than any PT job I've ever had...

How much time would you estimate a proxy spends per week with 17 people. ...I'm just thinking that it would be a royal pain in the ass (with lots of responsibility) I just couldnt see myself doing it for $250.

From my personal standpoint, it's little aggravation as out and about every day of the week betting sports and I'm inside the LVH or a couple miles from it everyday........and precisely why I do this service for just $200 and no commissions.

Last year with 10+ people, it was a piece of cake.

You da man Fish. I guess if your there everyday no big deal.

btw ...how does submitting the picks work ? Is it like the sportsbook where you verbally call out the teams or do they give you a card to fill out ? how does that work ?

Thank you for your services! Stand up guy here when it comes to a proxy. Sorry we didn't cash for you, but glad to know you enjoyed doing it for us anyways. Look forward to you saying that you're back to doing it in the coming years...

I didn't know the Hilton issued 1099s instead of W2-Gs.....(do they do a 1099-Misc?)

Either way I don't think taxes should be an issue. if they issue a W2-G then the IRS has a form (Form 5754) that will allow you to split the gambling winnings so that the end recipient of the money pays their fair share of taxes. If they issue a Form 1099, then you can issue a 1099 nominee, which is basically assigning money that was issued to you to someone else.

as far as proxy, I have had pleasant dealings with both FH and Sharky99. 10% is a lot, but everyone here is getting over their heads thinking they are going to be splitting their 1st place money. If I had the choice of a $200 + 10% proxy or a $300 with no %, I will save my $100 up front as there is such a small chance that % becomes significant.

I agree with those that say getting 20+ clients and having to hound them every week must be a pain in the ass. I have had weeks where I went out late Friday and forgot to send my picks in to the proxy by their deadline....only to be getting phone calls in the morning waking me up asking for picks....having to do that every week must suck.

it's a 1099-Misc

and as far as Taxes, a few losing tickets ... even lottery ones will bring that Tax amount pretty good.

I would set a guide line just like a contest. e-mail me your picks by such and such a time or you miss the boat. Plain and simple.

Yea rounding up all the picks is a real pain in the ass plus the multiple trips to the LVH. It is certainly not easy money.
