President Obama has reiterated his support for an amnesty for illegal aliens. His White House website announces his intention to "bring people out of the shadows" and "support a

system that allows undocumented immigrants who are in good standing to pay a fine, learn English, and go to the back of the line for the opportunity to become citizens."

Of course, we know that granting this amnesty means that those who have broken our laws will move to the front of the line, bypassing those who did not cheat.

Professor’s research finds Hispanics don’t assimilate easily

By 2050, the number of Hispanics in America will be triple what it was in 2005, jumping from 14 percent to 29 percent of the U.S. population, according to the Pew Hispanic Center of Washington, D.C., which studies the growth of America's Latino population.

The large influx allows Hispanics to hold onto their culture and language longer than the last great wave of immigrants did a century ago, experts say. More…


Mexico violence felt in North Texas

The violence south of the border is staggering, and it's crossing the border and spreading fear in some North Texas homes with ties to Mexico.

The daily headlines in Mexico's newspapers are a bloody wake up call. The death tolls are rising every day. More than 5,500 murders were reported in 2008, and more than 1,600 of those were in Juarez just south of El Paso.

There were also more than 1,000 kidnappings, 65 of which ended in death.

As the violence grows, so are the numbers of North Texans who are being touched by the crimes. More…

Gillibrand’s immigration stance ‘deeply troubling’ to advocates

New York’s new senator brings a very different stance on immigration compared to Sen. Charles Schumer or her predecessor, Sen. Hillary Clinton.

The fact that these valiant law enforcement officers were arrested and prosecuted as they were, in my judgment, may well have contributed to the reduction in the arrest of illegal aliens by the Border Patrol. I am of the belief that many agents were intimidated by the actions of the prosecutor in this case, Johnny Sutton and feared that by attempting to carry out their sworn duties, these agents not only ran the risk of being seriously injured by the ever more violent alien and drug smugglers operating in the lawless border regions of the United States, but that they also ran a serious risk of getting hammered by their own government! Feds to ‘rethink’ license mandate

WASHINGTON — Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano said Thursday afternoon that she will ""rethink"" a program that requires every state to issue more secure driver's licenses by the end of the year.

The new licenses, required under a 2005 federal law, aim to prevent criminals and potential terrorists from getting fake IDs. But the licenses have been opposed by many governors, who cite the cost. Added opposition comes from the American Civil Liberties Union, which says the cards are, in effect, a national ID card. More...

The Battle to Stop the Constitutional Convention

The phone call came to my home late on Tuesday night telling me that the next morning the Ohio House of Representatives would be holding hearings on a resolution to call for a Constitutional Convention. We knew this was not good news. But the news was even worse. To our shock, records indicated that if Ohio were to pass such a resolution, it would be state number thirty-three. Only thirty-four states are needed to officially kick the convention apparatus into gear. We were only two states away! And we had only 18 hours to prepare for battle.

Now, sponsors of the resolution were not wild-eyed Leftists who sought to purge the Constitution. Rather, they were patriotic Republican conservatives who were vitally concerned about the massive spending spree and bailouts taking place in Washington, D.C. The issue, said the sponsors, was to add a balanced budget amendment to the U.S Constitution.

I am glad you chose to support the Calvert and Kingston employment verification amendments to the stimulus package.

There are more than 11 million unemployed Americans and I feel it is necessary for the federal government to make sure any jobs created by the economic stimulus package go to unemployed Americans and not illegal aliens.

I am glad you share my views. I�m very thankful for your support of the amendments offered by Rep. Ken Calvert and Rep. Jack Kingston relating to employment verification. Please do all you can to make sure these provisions are retained in the final version of the stimulus package.

Millions of unemployed Americans are depending on their government to stimulate and protect jobs. These two amendments which you supported will go a long way to protect stimulus money for Americans.

Rationale for "Thank your Representative for Supporting E-Verify"

On January 21, 2009, the House Appropriations Committee passed two amendments to the Stimulus bill (the American Recovery and Reinvestment bill). The first amendment, offered by Rep. Ken Calvert (R-CA), would reauthorize E-Verify for a period of 5 years (it is currently set to expire on March 31). The second amendment, offered by Rep. Jack Kingston (R-GA), would require all businesses that receive stimulus money to use the E-Verify system to ensure that only Americans and legal residents benefit from the stimulus package. Both of these amendments passed by a voice vote, meaning no Representatives opposed the amendments.
Please send a fax to your Representative and thank him/her for supporting these amendments (or at least allowing them to pass through committee unhindered) and urge him/her to ensure that these amendments are in the final version of the bill.

[SIZE=+2]Anchor Babies and Interpreting the 14th Amendment[/SIZE]

It is well known that a person born in the United States is an automatic citizen regardless of the mother's citizenship status. However, the United States is unusual in its offer of citizenship to anyone born on U.S. soil. Only a few European countries still grant automatic citizenship at birth. The United Kingdom and Australia repealed their U.S. style policy in the 1980s after witnessing abuses similar to those plaguing the U.S. today. Why does the United States continue to allow a practice subject to widespread fraud? The answer lies in how American jurisprudence has interpreted the 14th Amendment to the Constitution.
The 14th Amendment was added to the Constitution as part of the post Civil War reforms aimed at addressing injustices to African Americans. It states that "all persons born or naturalized in the United States and subject to the jurisdiction thereof are citizens of the United States" and was crafted so that state governments could never deny citizenship to anyone born in the United States. However, when the amendment was crafted, the United States had no immigration policy, and thus the authors saw no need to state explicitly, what they believed was understood. The phrase "subject to the jurisdiction thereof" was intended to exclude from automatic citizenship American-born persons whose allegiance to the United States was not complete. In the case of illegal aliens who are temporarily or unlawfully in the United States, because their native country has a claim of allegiance to the child, the completeness of the allegiance to the United States is impaired and logically precludes automatic citizenship.
"Every Person born within the limits of the United States, and subject to their jurisdiction, is by virtue of natural law and national law a citizen of the United States. This will not, of course, include persons born in the United States who are foreigners, aliens, who belong to the families of ambassadors or foreign ministers accredited to the Government of the United States, but will include every other class of persons.

The Price We Pay

  • The Urban Institute estimates that the cost of educating an estimated 800,000 illegal alien school children in the nation's seven states with the highest concentration of illegals was $3.1 billion in 1993 (extrapolated to $4.6 billion in 1996 by FAIR), but this estimate does not at all take into account the additional costs of bilingual education or other special educational needs.
  • It is estimated that the number of children born to illegal aliens each year is 165,000. This figure is based on the crude birth rate of the total foreign-born population (33 birth per 1000) and the size of the illegal alien population (five million).
  • In 1994, California paid for 74,987 deliveries to illegal alien mothers, at a total cost of $215.2 million (an average of $2,842 per delivery). Illegal alien mothers accounted for 36 percent of all Medi-Cal funded births in California that year.
What This All Means and What Can Be Done

Higher Taxes: The federal government has control over immigration law for the United States. By not addressing this abuse, the funds that state and local governments must provide to anchor babies amounts to a virtual tax on U.S. citizens to subsidize illegal aliens.
Disrespect for the rule of law: By not closing this loophole, the federal government in effect rewards law-breakers and punishes those who have chosen to follow the rules and immigrate legally. Allowing illegal aliens to give birth to American citizens, in effect, makes citizenship a license for welfare. [SIZE=-1][Peter Brimelow. National Review, April 7, 1997.][/SIZE]
The present guarantee under American law of automatic birthright citizenship to the children of illegal aliens can operate...as one more incentive to illegal migration and violation by nonimmigrant aliens already here[.] When this attraction is combined with the powerful lure of the expanded entitlements conferred upon citizen children and their families by the modern welfare state, the total incentive effect of birthright citizenship may well become significant.

Congressional action warranted: The 14th Amendment stipulates that Congress has the power to enforce its provisions by enactment of legislation and the power to enforce a law is necessarily accompanied by the authority to interpret that law. Therefore, an act of Congress stating its interpretation of the 14th Amendment, as not to include the offspring of illegal aliens, would fall within Congress's prerogative.

The first is IFCO Sytems, which was reported to WeHireAliens.com on 4/3/2006. Later that month (4/19/2006), ICE raided 40 IFCO locations nationwide and arrested 1,187 illegal aliens and 7 managers and executives. Friday, the 7 managers and executives were charged with consipiracy and harboring.

The second recent announcement was today out of Indiana. On 1/12/2006, Janco Composites was reported to
WeHireAliens.com. In March of 2007, Janco was raided by ICE. Next week, the president of Janco is expected to plead guilty.

These are only 2 of the companies raided in recent years that

Alabama Woman Charged with Hiring Illegal Workers

The owner and operator of an Alabaster, Ala. construction company was charged on Wednesday for allegedly hiring and harboring illegal aliens. Beverly Linan who owns Rodriguez Construction Company could face up to 10 years in prison and a $250,000 fine if found guilty on all the counts.
“The knowing employment of illegal aliens not only takes jobs from hardworking Americans, it is against the law, “ U.S. Attorney Alice Martin said in an article published by the Shelby County Reporter.
The illegal workers that Rodriguez Construction was employing have been arrested by Immigration and Customs Enforcement and face deportation.
“No employer, regardless of industry, size, type or location is immune from complying with the nation’s laws,” ICE agent Michael Holt told the paper. “ICE and our law enforcement partners will continue to bring all of our authorities to bear in this fight using criminal charges, asset seizures, administrative arrests and deportations.”
ICE has been investigating Rodriguez Construction for two years.

Update

Nebraska Egg Plant Accused of Hiring Undocumented Workers

A former employee of Henningsen Foods in David City, Neb. has filed a suit against the company charging that they knowingly hired undocumented workers and gave them preferential treatment. The former worker was fired from the plant in 2007 and the charges are part of a wrongful-termination lawsuit against the plant.
Henningsen is an Omaha-based food supplier specializing in egg products and dehydrated meat and poultry products. The former employee said that she was fired for missing work or being late too many times, but she alleges that that illegal aliens missed just as much work and weren't fired. She also alleges that the company recruited illegal workers and knew that they were using falsified documents.
Immigration and Customs Enforcement has no knowledge of any past investigations with the company.

The Biggest 2 Lies About E-Verify (arguments to keep hiring illegal aliens)

Senators are being pounded from seemingly every direction to keep E-Verify out of their Stimulus bill next week (after the House this week put strong E-Verify requirements in their bill to make sure illegal aliens don't get jobs created by the Stimulus).
The anti-E-Verify folks are relying on enough Senators believing arguments that are demonstrable lies.
You need to be armed to destroy these lies when you write letters to the editor, send faxes, call in to talk radio shows, visit with your friends or phone your Senators' offices this coming week.
AND THE 2 BIGGEST LIES ARE ........
LIE NO. 1: AMERICANS WILL LOSE THEIR JOBS DUE TO FAULTY DATABASE

The most outlandish claim by the anti-E-Verify forces has been that using E-Verify will actually lead to more unemployment among Americans.
NumbersUSA's claim, of course, is that the universal use of E-Verify would result in employing millions MORE Americans because that many otherwise employed illegal aliens would not be able to get a job, opening the way for American workers.
Which is it?
The anti-E-Verify forces claim that Americans will lose their jobs if companies are required to use E-Verify because the databases supposedly are full of so many errors. Typical is this quote in the paper today:
Sonia Ramirez, legislative representative for the AFL-CIO, said the program misclassified many U.S. citizens and legal workers. The program, which is used on a limited basis, is not "ready for prime time," Ramirez said.

Rosemary Jenks, the lawyer who heads up NumbersUSA's Capitol Hill Team, has repeatedly and publicly issued a challenge to the media and open-borders advocates to produce even one example of an American losing a job because the E-Verify system wrongly ordered it.
If it turned out that of millions of transactions a year, there were 10 or 20 mistakes, we would be concerned but also find that to be an understandably tiny problem.
But, to date, opponents have NOT BEEN ABLE TO FIND an example of even ONE AMERICAN who lost a job due to problems with E-Verify.
A government investigation of E-Verify in 2007 found:
  • 93% of employees queried through the system were verified within 5 seconds!
  • another 1.2% were verified within 24 hours with no additional action required of either the employee or the employer
  • Most of the 5.8% who received a tentative non-confirmation requiring more time turned out to be illegal aliens
  • only 0.5% were U.S. citizens or authorized foreign workers who had to contact the Social Security Administration because of errors in the database
And let's be clear about that 0.5%. Many of the errors were ones that the workers themselves had made, such as a woman not notifying SSA of a change in last name after a marriage. And even if the error was the government's fault, going through E-Verify was a positive experience for most because they needed to know the error existed so they could clean it up before it caused problems down the line.
The 2007 study found that the accuracy rate of E-Verify was 99.5%.
Can any government program anywhere claim such a record?
And what the critics miss is that the system is set up so that when there is an error, nobody loses a job or is temporarily suspended from a job. The rules require that an employee who gets a tentative non-confirmation will continue to be employed until clearing up the discrepancy. (The illegal aliens, however, typically just don't show up for work after getting the first non-confirmation.)
An independent study between April and June of 2008 by Westat found:
  • 96% of employees were verified instantly
  • 0.4% had to contact the government to resolve record errors
  • 3.5% received final non-confirmations, meaning they were illegal aliens not having the legal right to work
Nearly every reporter in the mainstream media allows open-borders leaders to be quoted saying the E-Verify databases are full of errors that lead to all kinds of mishandling of employees, but the reporters don't allow the statistics above to show up in their stories. The claims about errors are lies, pure and simple.
LIE NO. 2: MANDATING E-VERIFY WILL DELAY STIMULUS MONEY CREATING JOBS

Requiring businesses to enroll in E-Verify could only slow the influx of money and jobs into the economy, said Tyler Moran of the National Immigration Law Center. "It is going to delay the stimulus," she said. "It doesn't belong here."

How many lies are in that lie? Let me count the ways:
1. Even if a company happens to hire one of the around 5% of people who don't get an immediate confirmation, they not only are allowed to keep that person on the job, they are required to do so until E-Verify gives a final decision several days later. The flow of Stimulus money into the pockets of a worker is not slowed.
2. The main argument seems to be that companies and governments getting Stimulus money won't have time to get enrolled in E-Verify and will delay taking the Stimulus money because of that. But they don't have to wait until this bill passes. They can get on-line right now and get the enrollment finished long before any money will be flowing.
3. Furthermore, the enrollment process at most takes one staff person a couple of hours to complete. That is only once per company.
4. If a company or organization just feels hamstrung by the simple enrollment, they can pay a third-party company to handle the E-Verify process for them on all of their hires.
5. The Department of Homeland Security last year stated that it would have no trouble handling a doubling or tripling of enrollees and activity over a short time.
6. DHS had no trouble handling the growth from 3.27 million verification queries in FY2007 to 6.6 million in FY2008 and more than 2 million queries just through the first quarter of FY2009.
7. Throughout this rapid expansion, E-Verify has become more accurate, more user-friendly and faster.
Friends, a sign of the power of special interests to still dominate in Washington is that the two big lies about E-Verify continue to be the most common thing you see about the system in the nation's newspapers and from the mouths of the leaders of business, labor, religious and ethnic-identity organizations.
Only through the willingness of hundreds of thousands of you to carry the truth to the U.S. Senate this coming week will American workers have a chance to move ahead of illegal aliens to get any jobs that might be created if the Stimulus bill passes.

Factory manager sentenced in immigration case

A manager of a leather goods manufacturer in New Bedford, Ma. has been sentenced to two years probation after an Immigration and Customs Enforcement raid in 2007 revealed that she had helped the factory hire and conceal illegal workers.
Michael Bianco Inc. production manager Dilia Costa pleaded guilty in October for harboring and concealing illegal aliens and hiring unauthorized immigrants. She was sentenced to home confinement for six months.
The factory's former owner, Francesco Insolia, was sentenced on Tuesday to 12 months in prison and $1 million fine after pleading guilty to charges of knowingly hiring and concealing illegal workers.
ICE officials arrested 361 workers in 2007.

Stimulus Bill Details:
1) Illegal Aliens will Cash In, while Military Veterans will get the Shaft

Part of the economic stimulus bill that was just passed by the House, includes “tax credits” of $500 per person and $1,000 per couple. (Note: if the recipients pay no taxes, it’s not a credit, it’s a handout.) Apparently the wording specifically disqualifies “nonresident aliens” (illegals) – However, people with no[SIZE=+0] Social Security numbers
could still get checks:

"Undocumented immigrants [illegals] who are not eligible for a Social Security number, can file tax returns with an alternative number. A House-passed version of the economic recovery bill and one making its way through the[SIZE=+0] Senate[/SIZE], would allow anyone with such a number, called an individual taxpayer identification number, to qualify for the tax credits".

In other words, it doesn’t disqualify illegal aliens.

Meanwhile, in the same bill, five pro-veteran amendments were shot down in committee. They included veteran work force training, small business loans to veterans, increased vocational training for veterans and job training for homeless female veterans and homeless veterans with children. One of the amendments didn’t even cost anything – it simply stipulated that any roads or bridges paid for with “stimulus money” would be named for a U.S. armed forces member killed in action.

So while illegal aliens can have a shot at what has turned into the Great American Handout, amendments that would have actually helped boost employment and help veterans at the same time were shot down.

2) E-Verify amendments included in House version of Stimulus bill
The House passed the stimulus bill that included two important E-Verify amendments.
a)The first amendment reauthorizes the E-Verify program for a period of five years.
b)The other amendment mandates that “None of the funds made available in this Act may be used to enter into a contract with an entity that does not participate in the E-Verify program ….”
ACTION ALERT!

Please contact your Senators and tell them to amend the bill. Tell them to:

1) Oppose any provision for obtaining "stimulus tax credits," for people using a tax identification number,
2) Support the E-Verify amendments that were included by the House.

The TV commercial, airing on various networks, questions the logic and fairness of continuing to allow millions of foreign workers to take so many well paying positions at a time when more than 11 million Americans are looking for work. The spot depicts a middle aged man packing his personal belongings in a box and boarding an elevator. As the elevator continues descending, more newly unemployed workers from many different occupations enter the elevator with their own boxes of belongings to illustrate the extent of the jobs problem and the fact that no group is unaffected. The spot ends with a question, “Could your job be next?” The question is followed by dozens of workers filing out of the building “going home to give their families the bad news.”

“This is a scene that is actually being played out in America thousands of times a day,” CAPS President, Diana Hull, said. “The people in the very building in which we filmed the commercial actually had panic in their eyes because they have seen this scenario playing out too often lately in their workplaces.”

The coalition’s primary goal is to educate by calling attention to the disconnect between American immigration policy and the reality of the economic crisis and jobs situation. Hull said, “This policy of importing millions of workers at a time of economic constriction and widespread loss of available jobs to replace those that are lost to American workers defies logic and common sense, let alone fairness. With 11 million Americans unable to find work, our government continues to bring in more foreign workers.”

CAPS and its associates offer a welcome suggestion to the new administration’s alleged jobs creation plan. “President Obama and his team estimate they can create 2 million jobs over the next two years by spending a trillion dollars of taxpayer money,” Hull said. “But by severely limiting the flow of foreign workers at this critical time, we can save over 2 million American jobs for American workers without spending a dime.”
