Urgent Request! Amnesty legislation is on the horizon
James,

It's already been a busy week in Washington, D.C. Open-border proponents have been inundating Congress in an effort to build support for amnesty. A group called Interfaith Worker Justice is organizing a call-in this week "to support real and inclusive comprehensive immigration reform." Last week, hundreds of La Raza activists descended on Capitol Hill with their pro-amnesty message.

It's time they hear from us!

We need you to call Congress with your opposition to amnesty THIS WEEK. Do it today, tomorrow, AND Friday if you can!

After you make calls to your Senators and Representatives, please also send them a fax or e-mail to reinforce your views.

The more we voice our opinion, the louder and more effective it will be. And remember, a phone call is considered TWICE as important, and therefore twice as effective, as an email.

Thank you for your time during this hectic week,

Gretchen Pfaff

Based on myth of labor shortage, biz & evangelical leaders put up ads to combat NumbersUSA's ads against CIR amnesty
What scares the promoters of the CIR amnesty more than anything is that the public starts focusing on the fact that they are pushing millions more foreign workers while 20 million Americans can't find a full-time job.
icon-action-phone.png
Tell your Senators: No Labor Shortage

The rest of this week, your Senators need to hear that:
1. You oppose all versions of comprehensive immigration reform.
2. All comprehensive immigration reform proposals are based on there being a labor shortage and a need for millions more foreign workers.
3. There is no labor shortage when 20 million Americans can't find a full-time job
Here is what a major pro-CIR amnesty group is telling its members about you:
"The last time this issue came up in 2007, opponents delivered SEVEN TIMES MORE CALLS than did supporters of the bill.

We can't let that happen again."
Also, read my new blog on the ads run by the loose-labor-market evangelical leaders in South Carolina.
https://www.numbersusa.com/content/nusablog/beckr/march-14-2013/labor-shortage-myth-drives -ads-busuiness-evangelical-leaders-combat-num
In some ways, I welcome the business ads because they further educate South Carolina voters about the role their senator is playing in working against the interests of the wage-earners of his state.
Also, the ads underscore that CIR is about helping certain businesses rather than addressing American workers' job crisis that is now in its fifth year.
Embarrassing themselves in backing the loose-labor-market dreams of the greediest of business interests, a national group of evangelical leaders is running ads indicating that Jesus backs CIR.
Thanks,

SAVE OUR STATES!CAPS Takes a Stand For Arizona & CaliforniaAZ Senator John McCain EXPOSED by New AdsHelp Fund More Ads Like These

Dear James,
CAPS is on the offensive.
This time we are sounding the alarm in our neighboring and fellow border state, Arizona.
CAPS new "S.O.S." (Save Our States) radio and tv ads expose Senator John McCain as a leading pro-amnesty legislator working against the wishes of the majority of Arizonans (and Americans) for a sustainable population and good quality of life for our children and grandchildren.
One of the strongest proponents for amnesty is right next door to California. This "Gang of Eight" member is spearheading the latest amnesty plan being shoved down the throats of American citizens - at a time when over 20 million Americans are having trouble finding work.
Notice how Senator McCain pushes for amnesty when he's not facing a re-election year?
As you probably know, Arizona has taken a bold lead in "doing the job the Feds won't do" by adopting the Arizona Immigration Law SB1070. Although challenged in court, thankfully, much of the law has been upheld.Even though SB1070 is extremely popular* with Arizonans, here is what Senator McCain is calling for:

 • MORE immigrant workers
 • MORE green cards
 • MASS immigration amnesty plan (and the expensive entitlement programs that go along with it like welfare benefits, public education, health care, Social Security and much more, paid for by...[drum roll]...yes, taxpayers LIKE YOU!)
CAPS is refusing to let Senator McCain get away with this. Obviously, the implications of amnesty stretch far beyond the borders of Arizona, especially in California where more immigrant workers settle than any other state. We are using donations from CAPS supporters like you (CAPS members reside in every state) to expose Senator McCain through radio and television ads. The ad content simply writes itself because of this Senator's outrageous behavior!
Advertising takes money. It's true, our shared cause doesn't have a fraction of the funding of the pro-amnesty opposition. But, with your support, CAPS is able to deliver the focused hard-hitting ads that the public and our elected officials MUST hear. Your gift today will help to fund more ads like these!

Donate today in one of three easy ways:

 1. Click here to donate securely online or go to: https://ssl.capwiz.com/caps/fundraising/?alertid=9190996
 2. Send your gift via mail with this donation form
 3. Call us (805) 564-6626
Give today to help us take a stand against amnesty with our neighbor Arizona.
Sincerely,
Jo Wideman, Executive Director

jo-wideman_zps11330ac3.jpg

P.S. Give today! This S.O.S. (Save Our States) advertising campaign will expose Senator McCain's intentions for what they are - BLANKET AMNESTY AND CITIZENSHIP FOR 11M+ ILLEGAL ALIENS. Please note: CAPS asks only those with discretionary income to donate.
P.S.S. Please refer your friends to CAPS to help grow our Anti-Amnesty Team!

Californians for Population Stabilization (CAPS) is a non-partisan nonprofit membership organization that relies solely on donations. CAPS works to formulate and advance policies and programs designed to stabilize the population of California, the U.S. and the world at levels which will preserve the environment and a good quality of life for all. In recent years since nearly all of California's and most of the United States' runaway population growth has come from immigration, CAPS has given this issue the attention it deserves.

I'm unable to donate right now, but please keep sending me CAPS news and Action Alerts! (Click here to send us an email letting us know)

*Quinnipac poll in April of 2012 showed the public supporting the bill 68-27

Most congressional Republicans wary of Rand Paul's & RNC's new calls for amnesty -- Give them some feedback
DEAR REPUBLICAN AND CONSERVATIVE OPPONENTS OF AMNESTY,
You may be a little shell-shocked by the news yesterday from the Republican National Committee and this morning from Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) saying the future of their Party depends on rewarding millions of illegal aliens with amnesty and adding massive new migrations of immigrant workers.
But here's an encouraging word from our Capitol Hill Team which is interacting with elected officials and their staffs every day:
Most Republicans in the House and Senate are quite wary of the pro-amnesty advice they are getting. Most of them not only think the recommendations violate important principles but also would lose more votes than they would gain.
Nonetheless, they need to hear from you that they are right that their political base is firmly opposed to another massive comprehensive amnesty law.
And because Rand Paul is an A-list celebrity at the moment, his endorsement of amnesty this morning could be destabilizing to many Republicans until they hear from you that you aren't buying what the Senator is selling.
Below the Action Box, I'll get into the details of the RNC and Paul recommendations.
icon-action-fax.png
Offer Advice from a Voter

Your Republican Member(s) have heard from the cheap-labor elites who have lots of money but very few votes. Now tell them what voters think of the advice for amnesty and higher immigration.
Do Republican and conservative voters really favor opening up U.S. jobs to tens of millions current and future illegal aliens as well as increased levels of legal foreign workers?
RNC RECIPE FOR WINNING ELECTIONS? MORE IMMIGRANTS
The big wigs at the Republican National Committee spend most of their time raising money from rich people and for 30 years have been promoting the massive importation of immigrant workers. While they have succeeded with their immigration policies in flooding labor markets and holding down the incomes of most wage-earning Americans (increasing profits for the rich), they have also imported a huge new demographic of Democratic voters who they now admit are threatening to make the Republican Party a permanent minority.
The solution according to these very same RNC big wigs is to import a whole lot more immigrant workers in the future, according to its blueprint for the future that it released yesterday.
I know. It doesn't make sense. And that may be one reason why Republican Members of Congress won't be paying much attention to it.
To win elections in the future, the RNC announced that:
"(The Republican Party) must embrace and champion comprehensive immigration reform."
Although it got a lot of publicity from the pro-amnesty media, the lack of details on what should be in the reform helps diminish its impact. Many commentators have already noted that Members of Congress (thankfully) don't look to the RNC for policy advice.
KEY POINTS OF THE RAND PAUL AMNESTY
Whether or not you admire Sen. Paul's bold individualistic leadership on other issues, I know you will be disappointed and maybe even shocked by the immigration platform he outlined this morning before the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce.
This is what he wants Congress to pass:

 • The 11-19 million illegal aliens would get to live permanently in the United States.
 • One year after Congress passes the amnesty, illegal aliens can start getting work permits to compete directly in the legal job market with Americans.
 • New illegal aliens who are enticed by the amnesty will continue to have a relatively open access to U.S. jobs because Sen. Paul opposes mandatory E-Verify and other means to keep employers from hiring illegal aliens.
 • Sen. Paul will force American workers to compete with far more new legal immigrant workers in the future.
Nowhere in his long speech did Sen. Paul indicate any concern for the 20 million Americans who can't find a full-time job or for the taxpayers who have to support them in myriad ways while 26 million legal and illegal foreign-born workers hold U.S. jobs.
Instead, Sen. Paul emphasized the need for even more foreign workers as if there can never be a downside of too much immigration. He called for a:
" . . . dialogue that shows that the GOP sees all immigrants as assets. . . . The Republican Party must embrace more legal immigration."
Nonetheless, Rand Paul outlined his amnesty with enough ambiguity to give some hope that Kentuckians can rescue him -- and the country -- from disastrous leadership on this issue.
WHAT ABOUT CITIZENSHIP FOR ILLEGAL ALIENS?
An AP story before the speech stated that Sen. Paul was endorsing a path to citizenship. This has spawned a lot of erroneous stories and tweets on the internet.
But Paul said nothing about citizenship in his speech. Rather, it looks like he is proposing a permanent-residency amnesty and work-permit amnesty but not a citizenship amnesty. That is more than enough amnesty to be truly harmful, but it is interesting that Paul is differing with Pres. Obama and the Senate Gang of Eight on the citizenship point.
WHEN DOES JOBS-AMNESTY KICK IN?
Sen. Paul leaves no doubt that he wants all the illegal aliens to be competing with Americans equally in the jobs market. But he proposes a phase-in system that he describes in very general terms.
You can read for yourself what his prepared text said:
"The first part of my plan - border security - must be certified by Border Patrol and an Investigator General and then voted on by Congress to ensure it has been accomplished.

"This is what I call, Trust but Verify.

"With this in place, I believe conservatives will accept what needs to come next, an issue that must be addressed: what becomes of the 12 million undocumented workers in the United States?

"My plan is very simple and will include work visas for those who are here, who are willing to come forward and work.

"A bipartisan panel would determine number of visas per year."
There is a lot there that needs to be explored
OPPOSING E-VERIFY MAKES PAUL'S PLAN MORE RADICAL THAN OBAMA'S
In one way, Rand Paul's plan is far more radical and pro-illegal-immigration than anything proposed by Pres. Obama or the Gang of Eight, both of whom are at least promising workplace verification to cut off the jobs magnet that has created the giant illegal-alien population in the first place.
"My plan . . . will also not have mandatory E-Verify. I don't mind if there's E-Verify, maybe related to the tax code somehow, but I don't like the idea of making every business owner a policeman."
How radical is this idea of not having business owners reponsible for avoiding hiring illegal aliens? Well, business responsibility was about the only thing that was given in return for the first (and supposedly last) amnesty in 1986. Sen. Paul today seemed to say that the only thing that should stand from the 1986 compromise was the amnesty itself.
BACK OF THE LINE? NOT AN AMNESTY?
Like Pres. Obama, Sen. Paul makes two highly questionable assertions about his plan:
"My plan will not grant amnesty or move anyone to the front of the line."
In fact, his plan does both.
Rand Paul and Barack Obama claim they don't support amnesty because they define amnesty differently than most of us. They contend that if illegal aliens pay a fine it isn't amnesty to give them the lifelong residency and jobs they broke immigration laws to steal.
Of course, one of the last things citizens should do is allow their politicians to define away words that are inconvenient to them. Nobody who cares about the rule of law and an immigration system that serves the American people would call the Paul plan anything but an "amnesty," although it is not as generous of an amnesty as Pres. Obama and the Gang of Eight are proposing.
The "front of the line" line in some ways is even more maddening because it pretends that only future legal immigrants matter and that current unemployed Americans don't count at all.
Sen. Paul and Pres. Obama say that the illegal aliens should not get citizenship before the foreign citizens who are waiting in a backlog line to get immigration status. So, they each have provisions that delay how fast the illegal aliens get a green card that puts them on a path to citizenship.
But what about the unemployment lines for millions of Americans -- 20 million who can't find a full-time job?
Sen. Paul and Pres. Obama basically put the illegal aliens at the FRONT of the jobs line.
Obama would give illegal aliens work permits almost immediately. Paul seems to say he would make them wait a year.
Why do I say the illegal aliens would be in the front of the line just because they get work permits? Because most of them already have jobs. Obama and Paul would be giving them the legal permits to continue holding the jobs that they have already taken from Americans.
Many otherwise intelligent people have the idea that illegal aliens take jobs that Americans don't want.
But fewer than 5% are in agriculture, for example. The rest of the illegal workers are in jobs in which the majority of workers are U.S. citizens. In other words, those are clearly jobs Americans WILL do and ARE doing.
There are more than twice as many less-educated Americans looking for jobs in construction, manufacturing and service where the 7 million illegal aliens already have jobs.
That apparently is just fine with Rand Paul and all the other supporters of amnesty.
Is it fine with the voters who put Republicans into office?

[h=1]Lead Story[/h][h=2]Reminder: How Mexico Treats “Undesirable” Foreigners[/h]

Reminder: How Mexico Treats “Undesirable” Foreigners
by Michelle Malkin
Creators Syndicate
Copyright 2013
American politicians in both parties are stampeding all over themselves to pander to Mexico and adopt mass illegal alien amnesty schemes. But while the Mexican government lobbies for more “humane” treatment of illegal border crossers from their country into ours, Mexico remains notoriously restrictionist toward “undesirable” foreigners who break their laws or threaten their security.
Despite widely touted immigration “reforms” adopted in 2011, Mexico still puts Mexico first — as any country that is serious about protecting its sovereignty should and would.
Article 33 of Mexico’s constitution establishes the right of the president to detain and deport “any foreigner” and prohibits foreigners from participating “in any way” in the political affairs of the country.
While you read this passage, dwell on the demagogic rhetoric of meddling Mexican consular officials and lobbyists who assail America for its (poorly enforced) detention and deportation policies:
“The President of the Republic shall have the power to expel from national territory any foreigner, according to the law and after a hearing. The law shall establish the administrative procedure for this purpose, as well as the place where the foreigner should be detained and the time for that. Foreigners may not in any way participate in the political affairs of the country.”
Article 32 of Mexico’s constitution unapologetically bans non-native born residents from holding sensitive jobs and joining the country’s military. Preference is given unabashedly to Mexicans over foreigners.
While you read this passage, contemplate the inexorable push by open-borders groups to secure illegal alien “rights” to American jobs, American military assignments, American driver’s licenses, discounted U.S. college tuition and Obamacare:
“Only Mexicans by birth can perform all government employments, positions, or commissions in which the status of citizenship is indispensable. During peacetime, foreigners shall neither serve in the Army nor in the police bodies. During peacetime, only Mexicans by birth can serve in the Army, in the Navy or in the Air Force as well can perform any employment or commission within such corporations.
The same condition applies to captains, pilots, skippers, ship engineers, flight engineers and, in general, to every crew member in a ship or an airplane carrying the Mexican flag. In the same way, only Mexicans by birth can be port harbormasters, steersmen and airport superintendents.
Mexicans shall have priority over foreigners, under equal circumstances, for all kind of concessions, employments, positions or commissions of the government in which the status of citizenship is not indispensable.”

While amnesty advocates and civil liberties zealots in the U.S. decry “police state” tactics against illegal aliens, Mexico fiercely maintains laws against illegal border crossings; “verification visits” to enforce visa conditions; requirements that foreigners produce proof of legal status on demand; and enforcement and cooperation between and among immigration officials and law enforcement authorities at all levels in Mexico. Native-born Mexicans are also empowered to make citizens arrests of illegal aliens and turn them in to authorities.
Mexico’s National Catalog of Foreigners tracks all outside tourists and foreign nationals. A National Population Registry tracks and verifies the identity of every member of the population, who must carry a citizens identity card. Visitors who do not possess proper documents and identification are subject to arrest at any time. And for those seeking permanent residency or naturalization, Mexico requires that they must not be economic burdens on society and must have clean criminal histories. Those seeking to obtain Mexican citizenship must show a birth certificate, provide a bank statement proving economic independence, pass an exam and prove they can provide their own health care.
Applicants are assessed based on a point system using factors such as level of education, employment experience, and scientific and technological knowledge. Property acquisition and ownership by foreigners is still severely restricted. Mexican corporations are banned from hiring illegal aliens.
Exit question: If such self-interested “nativism” is right and good for the protection and survival of Mexico, why not for the United States?

Gangs of Eight Finalize Amnesty Bills
Voice Your Opposition Before it is Too Late!

The latest news from Capitol Hill is that both amnesty working groups in the House and Senate – the so-called "Gangs of Eight" – are finalizing their "comprehensive" immigration reform bills this week!
Call your Members of Congress today and tell them NO AMNESTY for illegal aliens! Click here to look up your Member of Congress now.
Although both the House and Senate are currently in recess, the self-appointed "Gangs" in each chamber are expected to introduce legislation the week of April 8, upon returning from their two-week Easter break.

Once legislation is introduced, pro-amnesty Members of Congress are expected to rush it through the relevant committees and to the respective floors for a vote, giving the American people little time to learn about the contents of the legislation before it's passed.

In fact, the Chair of the Senate Judiciary Committee has already said he intends to "proceed to comprehensive immigration reform with all deliberate speed," and has indicated he will not hold any additional hearings on immigration once the Gang of Eight introduces its amnesty legislation.

Now is the time to voice your opposition to amnesty! Many Members are at home in their states and districts during this break hosting town hall meetings.

Find and attend a meeting near you and tell them the American people deserve a fair and public immigration debate, and better than another failed amnesty that will do nothing to get unemployed Americans back to work.

Call your Senators and House Representative today! Click here to find their phone numbers.

The Gangs of Eight are purposely delaying releasing their bills because they know that Americans do not want amnesty and that if given the time to read and understand the legislation, it would have zero public support!

It's critical that supporters of true immigration reform call their Members of Congress today and let them know that the American people won't stand for legislation written behind closed doors and rushed through the House and Senate.

-FAIR

P.S. Not sure about what to say when you call? FAIR recently launched an activism guide, giving you the tools you need to contact your Senators and Representative. Click here to get started!

Pro-Amnesty Forces Set to Storm Washington on April 10!Illegal aliens' backers plan to bus tens of thousands of protesters to demand amnesty on April 10;We must raise $85,000 to counter their efforts!click:https://www.numbersusa.com/donate Dear Jim Myers, In 2007, NumbersUSA members defeated a push to grant amnesty to millions of illegal aliens. Since that time, amnesty supporters have spent nearly 1.5 BILLION dollars, and hired over 3,000 lobbyists. We're about to see a little bit of what they spent that money on. And we need your help to get ready! On April 10, our opponents say, they will be busing tens of thousands of pro-amnesty protesters to Washington, D.C., to march on the Capitol. They will demand an immediate amnesty for (in many cases) themselves and other illegal aliens now residing in America, taking our jobs and drawing our benefits.Do you remember past rallies? There were foreign flags, angry speeches and ugly scenes. NumbersUSA's founder Roy Beck was even physically assaulted by a mob of SEIU-organized agitators! They are not asking for an amnesty, they are demanding one as an entitlement. We must raise $85,000 by midnight Monday. Every dollar will help fight against amnesty! or click https://www.numbersusa.com/donate Starting a week from Friday, we're launching an aggressive 4-day plan to counter their efforts. This effort is going to be big. VERY big, as you'll read below. So big, in fact, that it will bust the budget. AND THAT'S WHY I'VE GOT TO ASK YOU TO BUST YOUR PIGGY BANK THIS MONTH AND SEND US A VERY GENEROUS DONATION. Jim, would you consider making a gift of $35 to back this effort? If you've been waiting for the right time to give another donation to NumbersUSA, this is that time. Tens of thousands of angry, in-many-cases illegal demonstrators are coming here to Washington to DEMAND amnesty and benefits. Will we let them pressure Congress into folding on this issue? I say "NO."But let's put our money and activism where our mouth is. Our goal is $85,000.--------------------------------------------------------------------------------Here's our plan:--------------------------------------------------------------------------------1. We'll visit local congressional offices.Over the next three weeks, we will send our members to visit the local, district offices of every member of Congress. (You will have your own invitation to be part of this effort in other emails.) Did you read this carefully? We're going to visit the local, district offices of every Member of Congress! These visits will demonstrate one huge difference between the opposition and us. THEY'VE got millions of bucks and rented buses. They can turn out a giant crowd to wave flags and shout slogans. What WE have is voters. Over a million and a half voters are members of NumbersUSA. These people are U.S. citizens. And they vote. In every election. They are all politically involved. 2. By Sunday, April 7, we'll send one million faxes.Between now and then, we'll need our members to fax their Members of Congress and sign our new petitions to Congress and the President to Stop Amnesty and get busy on upping enforcement.Even after you send your faxes, keep a watch out for further updates. We expect Congress to introduce the Gang of Eight's amnesty some time close to the rally. The bill will legalize most of the 11 to 19 million illegal aliens. It will give eventual citizenship, including voting rights. And it would give them access to trillions of dollars of benefits (such as medicare, food stamps and social security).3. On April 8-9, we'll make 30,000 phone calls.NumbersUSA's 2007 phone campaign is the stuff of Washington, D.C. legend. Our members completely shut down the Capitol's phone lines. But senators like Lindsey Graham (R-SC) and Johnny Isakson (R-GA) are telling their colleagues that those days have past. We're going to prove them wrong. This time, we've increased our goal by thousands!4. On April 10, catch the webcast from the Mall. Thousands of chartered buses roll into Washington. We will have continuous streaming reporting from the National Mall, covering the protest on the home page of NumbersUSA all day long. We ask that you STAY GLUED. NumbersUSA will be televised to your computer screen all day long. So turn up your speakers, gather round your neighbors, and take in our unique coverage. We are embedding our video reporters right into the crowd at the protest. And once again, Despite being physically attacked last time, NumbersUSA president Roy Beck will debate any and all comers at the protest who want to discuss immigration numbers, amnesty, the future of America, and other issues. You will see and hear this on your computer. All day long, you'll be able to participate by typing in your comments and questions on the home page. Comments and questions will be read and responded to. Jim, you can see that this is the biggest thing we've ever done! We must have your participation for this to succeed. We need your activism and your donations.Frankly, this is the time to break the piggy bank and send us a gift. Today! Right now! We need $85,000 in gifts come in by credit card, or ******, or by check by Monday at midnight to make this possible. Jim, I don't know your current financial situation, but please consider a gift of $35 to launch our Stop Amnesty effort and turn back this pro-Amnesty invasion. or click https://www.numbersusa.com/donate --------------------------------------------------------------------------------You Can Donate 4 Ways--------------------------------------------------------------------------------1) On-line credit card. We take all major cards. 2) Give by ******. 3) Check -- see the instructions and a form to print out and send with your check. 4) Call (877) 885-7733 to arrange a wire transfer, stock donation, or to make a credit card donation over the phone. If our office is closed, please leave the time and your phone number and we will call back. Keep the faith, and don't ever give up! Jim RobbVice President, Operationsjimrobb@NumbersUSA.com
