That's because what Lebron did was everything you won't see from a true championship winning team, but it's everything NBA commissioner longing to promote the game of basketball, it's the same for baseball, home run chase, Sosa, Big Mac, 50 points performance, Vince Carter's dunks, but what about steriods and defence? nah... it sends the wrong message to the kids, screw X's and O's, all you need is to call ISOs, stats=big contract, screw the coach.

Oh, and btw, Kobe has had better players on his lakers team for the past 5 years than Lebron, and yet has not won a playoff series. There is no comparison between the two.

Without Lebron, most the Cavs would be lucky to be on rosters...

Yes, he is Magic, Bird and MJ caliber. And people better get over it. I dont care if the Cavs lose the series, what he did last night was one for the ages.

Most impressive performance I've seen since MJ dropped 63 at Boston in the playoffs.

And he is only going to get better. He is so physically talented it is scary. He got to the hoops going by Detroit players with ease. Phenominal!! He also has a good head on his shoulders passing all the time. He answers questions nicely and remains calm at all times. Do not overlook that....he has the personality to be that mega star. He is the total package. He will be in that special company very soon.

Jordan was a rail until he turned 27. Most amazing thing is how level-headed and media-saavy LJ is.

Kobe has had better players on his team? Not sure who exactly you are referring to.

Lebron James is a stud - his future looks great - and until last night he was best known for his non performance is big situations - I guess one game makes you better than guys who have come up huge consistently and won rings too - David Robinson scored 70+ points in a game so he must be the greatest player of all time.

I thought the people ripping James up a week ago were idiots, I doubt anything has changed. For the most part they're just haters, much like the Manning bashers before he won a ring.

Should he be crowned the greatest ever? Hell no. But the kid is an amazing talent who should just now be graduating from college. Labeling someone that young a choke artist and shit like that is beyond ignorant imo, and last night's performance went a long ways towards proving that.

Who? What people? I haven't heard anyone say anything negative about King James after last night! And yet, that was the same premise brought up on the radio by whomever was filling in for Dan Patrick today.
Truly amazing.

I agree. He has a big ego. But with the game on the line you look for the coolest player under pressure. And it's Kobe. He's already a proven winner, no matter what he's doing this year. I believe LeBron will get there. But he's not there yet. Most all of the great primary ball handlers in the game had a high free throw percentage. And most took it to a new level in the playoffs..

FT %

LeBron James
Career average: .733
playoff average .770

Kobe Bryant
Career average: .833
Playoff average: .919

To me, that says it all. Bryant steps it up with game on the line. LeBron needs to get his percentage up at least a full point percentage before I start putting him in the "greatness" category.

This is the most assinine post I have ever read ... So let me get this straight according to your "Logic" ... Ewing is waaay better than Shaquile ... ?? ... Who would you wrather want in the paint the game on the line , fouls or not ... I'll take the big fellow ... And I'll take James

Shaq
Career average .525
Playoff average .503

Ewing
Career average .740
Playoff average .718

You weren't listening to me. I said the primary ball handlers.. As in the forwards and guards. Not the centers.

Billups has a higher FT % than Lebron...

How'd Chauncey do with the game tied at the end of regulation? Waits about 7 seconds and then leans into Eric Snow to shoot an awkward 3 pointer...

How about at the end of the 2nd overtime with a chance to win it? Drives in and blocked by Varejao

Does the higher FT% mean that Chauncey is better than Lebron?

Seymour I always valued your opinion until this moronic post ....

David Robinsons 71 point game came on the last game of the regular season , in which DR needed 69 points to win the scoring title ... His team fed him the rock every play and he ended up taking 41 shots on the night ... The 55-27 Spurs took advantage of a Clipper team that won only 27 games on the year ... No other spur scored more than 8 points that night ... David Robinson is a tremendous player , and had he scored those 71 points in a hostile road environment , with the game on the line in the Playoffs ... ( conference finals would be a plus too ) ... Then Hell yez , that type of game would probably be the Greatest playoff game ever , But since it happened 13 years ago and has been forgotten more than remembered ... Its really a moot point on your behalf. So just get it out of the way now , and give the Kid his due ...

Lebron much better than Kobe, especailly with the game on the line. If Lebron and Kobe switch teams, Cleveland would have been 35-47 this year.

Rupert...Seymour was just being sarcastic...no way was he praising Robinson for his 71 points...the same with Wilt when he scored 100 points....no way does that make him the greatest ever...

Wrong again. I think you need to stick to softball and tennis. You are quickly showing you don't know a hell of a lot about the NBA.

No. But we're talking about greatness over a career, and consistently carrying a team.. And I just haven't seen any ball handling players that I consider great who have had a poor career FT percentage. And I consider anything under 80% poor by NBA standards.

You are kind of nitpicking now because Lebron shoots a higher percentage from the field which is 10% more important.

But you have to take into account that Kobe probably put up a hell of a lot more shots this season than LeBron. So the 10% better percentage really doesn't mean anything in this case. Listen, I'm not defending Kobe and running down LeBron. LeBron is going to be a hell of a player that I believe will achieve greatness. And he's only 22 years old. So he's way ahead of the curve at this point. But his 77% FT average will hurt him over his career if he doesn't raise this stat. I would like to see him hit over 80% for the playoffs. The Magic Johnson's and Larry Bird's were great free throw shooters. That's what seperated these players from the pack. And won them their championships in tight games.

So Clyde Drexler wasnt great in your opinion ... he was under 80 %

and DR. J was under 80 % also , I guess he was a poor player aswell ( according to your logic )
