I personally would take a good casado with picadillo over any fast food. I probably eat fast food twice a month.

And please tell me what´s traditional gringo diet then.

Mashed Potatoes

Corn on the cob

Cabbage Rolls

Meatloaf

Chicken and Dumplings

Biscuits and Gravy

Gumbo

Jumbalaya

Pot roast

redbeans with hamhocks

butterbeans

ect...

Traditional gringo breakfast: bacon, eggs, pancakes, waffles, syrup, hash browns, toast, sausage, grits, ham, cheese.

Traditional tico breakfast: rice and beans, eggs, ham, fried plantains, fried white cheese (which has less calories than mozarella or swiss), sour cream, avocado, and tortillas or bread.

Please show me how your breakfast listed here is that much healthier than the one you listed? We usually dont do cheese with breakfast unless its on a breakfast burrito and you guys eat just as much syrup as us but ours is actually maple syrup where here you only get corn syrup.

As far as the Rice and Beans go you might want to mention that it all starts with chile, cebolla, and aceite in your frying-pan, and chances are the rice probably had a little oil in it when you made it the day before. White cheese has less calories? Well it did before you fried it NUMAR!

Dude go to Utopia, Prive, Gaira, etc., and take a look around. Hot girls absolutely everywhere.

A small percentage I guess... But then you guys probably like those big round asses.

Interesting choice of venues btw, so what you're saying is only ticas with money have hot bodies? :)

LOL the best part about this thread is we can bash ticos without getting the classic "if you don't like it, leave" answer!

I mean in this thread I'm just making fun, as it doesn't really affect me. Now that I'm married, the availability of hot girls isn't a problem, and as for healthy eating, there are plenty of good restaurants and I end up cooking at home most the time anyway.

Also it comes in handy at the mall food court when subway and quiznos have no lineup, while mcdonalds and kfc have a 15 minute wait to be served...

Ticos are pretty quick to criticize the pigs considering they got their heads stuffed in the same slop bucket.

Mashed Potatoes - Carbs, rice and beans a thousand times healthier

Corn on the cob - with butter

Cabbage Rolls - dont they serve those with a thick sause on top?

Meatloaf

Chicken and Dumplings - southern, not the US

Biscuits and Gravy - carbs and fat

Gumbo - southern, not the US

Jumbalaya - southern, not the US

Pot roast

redbeans with hamhocks

butterbeans

ect...

A lot of this stuff you mention I don´t see people cooking those on a regular basis. Not saying its not traditional american food but its definitely not traditional american diet. In Costa Rica most people eat casado once or twice a day. Its simple to make, fast, convenient, healthy.

Please show me how your breakfast listed here is that much healthier than the one you listed? We usually dont do cheese with breakfast unless its on a breakfast burrito and you guys eat just as much syrup as us but ours is actually maple syrup where here you only get corn syrup.

Syrup with what?

Onions and sweet basicaly no calories. If you use vegetable oil, which most households do, then you are still pretty good.

White cheese has less calories than other cheese. Fat content is extremely low. Compare calories on queso tico with mozzarella, american, swiss, or any other yellow cheese for that matter. Tico fried cheese on vegetable oil (olive even better) still less calories than mozzarella. What do you think gives cheese the yellow color?

Yeah those fried steak with fried oninions, with fried platano, and fried cheese casados are good for your heart, and I know tons of Ticos cooking their white cheese with olive oil, so if you were thinking yourself retarded there for a second you were right.

Also potatoes and rice are in the exact same food group, along with bread(biscuits) and I dont see the sausage being much worse for you than your porkchop casado. And cabbage rolls are topped with tomato paste hippy, I dont think thats too bad for you.

Steak is not fried, its a la plancha. Onions go over the steak, not a significant source of calories, you are making it sound as if they were fried onion rings which you gringos eat on a regular basis. Never seen fried cheese in casado.

Not olive oil, but vegetable oil in most. I said olive oil better, not the norm.

I ask you again, what do you consider regular US diet?, not that list of southern cuisine you gave me.

Onion rings are bar food, much like chicharrones(which are probably better for you than onion rings since they have a beaner name).

Those are traditional meals for a decent chunk of the states, if you want to know what they eat in the big cities you are better off asking a cuban, a mexican, or a Puerto Rican.

How often do you think ticos eat pancakes/waffles compared to gringos?

Have you seen an IHOP or Waffle House here? If we eat that many pancakes dont you think that would be a good business idea?

Come on, before you post, ask the gringo sitting next to you if what you wrote has any reasoning behind it.
