Gambling 911 article - "
It has since been learned that Steve Lawrence served as Chairman of Neteller until October 13, 2005."

Hard to believe an organization that cannot google basic facts in their stories has it right.

May 11, 2006 -- "The Board is pleased to announce that, with effect from the close of today’s Board meeting, Gord Herman has been appointed as Executive Chairman of NETELLER PLC. The Board wishes to thank Steve Lawrence for his contribution as the Company’s outgoing Chairman, and for his efforts and dedication to creating and building NETELLER into the successful business it is today, and also looks forward to Steve’s continuing contribution as a non-executive director."

Oct 13, 2006 -- "The Company announces that Mr. Steve Lawrence resigned as a non-executive director of the Board with effect from Friday 13 October 2006. The Board sincerely thanks Mr. Lawrence for his significant contribution and efforts in founding and helping to build NETELLER into the world’s leading independent online money transfer business, and wishes him well for the future. Mr. Lawrence continues to remain a supportive shareholder of the Company."

Still nothing in the "legit" news media....only news sources I can find are G911 and Casino Gambling Web, which seems to be regurgitating the G911 story. The lack of legit news coverage strikes me as very odd. If you'll recall back when the BoS arrest went down it made the news very quickly. With such an obvious "hook" for a reporter in online gambling you think *someone* would be reporting on it?

Considering I have acknowledged that it is a rumor. I prefer not to elaborate. I could have completly innacurate information. Regardless. I found the info worrysome enough to empty my balance. Use your own judgement. I don't know a thing about this stuff.

Still trolling for legit Neteller news....the arrests sure weren't reflected in the stock price yesterday as Neteller was up 5.00 (2.92%). If there was any material exposure to the company you think there would have been some negative impact in the stock price. Financial markets are usually pretty good about responding quickly to this kind of thing. Apparently the UK investment community doesn't read Gambling911....

Dr03 -

I really will be going to either Canada or Australia. Neteller has been very very good to me.

I'm not going to cut my income by 75-80% to stay here.

Since I'm not taking any bets, I am more than welcome to travel in and out of the US.

Ok, Dr03, we will see.

If Neteller blocks US accounts, I promise you I will move enough to have access to neteller and all offshore books. I'm not making any promises I wont travel to and from the states...

Did Britney and Posh Spice get arrested too? ; )

Here's my theory which I guess will be validated or invalidated in the next few hours. If these guys *were* arrested they were pinched on something that has nothing to do with Neteller. Taking the G911 report at face value it says they were taken into custody early Monday morning. G911 first posted the story (according to the Google news timestamp) 7 hours ago. The notion that the entire world's media doesn't know about this is downright implausable. Even if it *was* a holiday in the US--it wasn't a holiday in England (where Neteller is listed) and if this was Neteller relevant it would have been reported somewhere. Its now 7 AM in the UK and still nary a mention in their financial press...

So maybe they were arrested, but G911 is the only one making the Neteller connection. Until it gets reported in some sort of legit media--which it would be had it any sort of impact on a publicly traded company--I'm going to consider it a rumor.

Besides, the G911 report said that one of the guys was a "former hippie". Maybe he's moved into the business of selling "smokable herbs"

I think he would do just that. I'm pretty sure Canada would be receptive to allowing an MD to become a citizen.

shit.....this government i tell ya

but hey.....uncle sam will ALWAYZ get his

how long did people expect all this untaxable money floating around wouldnt get taxed in the long run

sam wants his cut damn it!

what really gets me though....I mean the thing that really get me steamed

is that its perfectly ok to head down to your local race track or off track facility and play these fixed horse races here in the USA

and anybody that tells me horse racing isnt fixed i would call them a jackass

I live in sacramento...just recently a harness jockey from cal expo admitted he fixed a race....a guy i have talked to before at the bar in cal expo....he used to brag to people about "joining the dark side" if you want to win

so him and a few other riders decided to fix a race

it was may 5th of last year...the odds of the horses that finished were as follows

1st=6-1
2nd=2-1
3rd=25-1...the longest shot on the board in a 7 horse field

well "payday ray" decided not to whip his horse....who was 3-1....and let the 25-1 pass him for 3rd

anyhow...the trifecta should have payed over $200 at the least

it payed $75...because 3 of the riders in the race placed $1000 straight tri bets....ironically.....they called it straight on every ticket

so they investigated and california was about to make a example of raymond burt....but.....he snitched and agreed to testify in court....so they are in the process of arresting the other drivers....they just got one a few days ago that was driving at monticello raceway....daniel maier...ill never forget when his dad tim maier pulled back on a 1-9...looked over his shoulder....and was waiting for a 9-1 to come get him....then 2 races later....he was at a autotote machine cashing tickets...lol

now cal expo has always fixed races.....nobody ever said anything....thats because california gets 40% from the track

the best thing was for this to happen.....so they can act like they go after people who fix races.....but these riders were garbage....they never would win

and dont let me get into the thoroughbreds....lmfao....scott lake....drug oneil....oh and john sadler has juice also....real talk....and lets not forget jeff mullins.....who went from a county fair trainer to the top so cal trainer last year...claiming horses with zero beyers and winning with them first out

point being its ok for the kids to bet fixed horses....but its not ok for them to bet on a sports game.....cause the government knows.....people can make money betting sports....and if they arent getting a piece of the action...well best believe they will shut that shit down....like how they are doin it right now:ughhh:

$3,000 in straight tris doesn't sound right. How big is the pool on one harness race ?

Wouldn't it pay far less ?

At least Germany is honest:

Germany is about to pass laws that will outlaw online betting in most of the states across the country. The only difference between Germany banning Internet gambling as opposed to the US banning it is that the Germans have the chutzpah to come right out and say that they are doing it to protect the land based monopolies that run in the states.

The states in the US are seeing more and more approval for land based casinos. Pennsylvania has put up new casinos, Florida has many, the Gulf Coast states run them, and of course there are the gambling meccas of Las Vegas and Atlantic City. Yet, the United States government has called online gambling another form of crack cocaine, and stated that as the reason to ban online games.

As shamelessly reported in a German newspaper the German states want to sign off on new rules designed specifically to protect their lucrative state run lotteries. The German state of Saxony and two other states imposed a ban earlier this year on commercial betting. That ban was directed mainly at Austrian Internet betting firm Bet and Win (bwin.com) whose German base was the country's biggest commercial bookmaker.

The European Gaming Commission is stressing to Union members that this sort of protectionism is not allowed. As a result, Spain and Italy are opening their doors to Internet gambling. Germany is going in the other direction without fear of consequences.

CASE AT A GLANCE
Sacramento Harness Association officials started an immediate investigation into the first race May 5 at Cal Expo after they became alarmed by an unusually low trifecta payout. The $3,000 claiming event was won by 6-1 shot Green Fields, who had won one of 17 prior starts at the meet with average odds of 28.5-1. Driver Jason Maier, who also owned the winner, went to the lead immediately with Green Fields and finished first by nine lengths with even-money favorite Wovoca second and Mow Em Down -- the longest shot in the seven-horse field at 28-1 -- third. The $1 trifecta -- which requires bettors to correctly pick the first three finishers in order -- paid $79.50. An average payoff for that combination would be $238. On May 12, the SHA suspended four drivers in connection with the case. Those suspensions were lifted in September, but the state's investigation continued.
Arrest of driver made in probe at Cal Expo

[FONT=arial,helvetica,sans-serif]A former Cal Expo driver who had been working in New York was arrested Friday in connection with possible race fixing at the Sacramento harness track.
Daniel R. Maier, 22, was taken into custody Friday afternoon at Monticello Raceway in the Catskills region of New York, said Maggy Krell, deputy state attorney for California. Maier faces extradition to California.
Awaiting Maier in Sacramento Superior Court are three charges: conspiracy to commit grand theft, grand theft and bribery to affect the outcome of a horse race.
"It's the first such case to be prosecuted in California," Krell said of the bribery charge.
Maier's arrest followed the Dec. 19 conviction of driver-trainer Raymond Burt, who pleaded guilty to "accepting a bribe not to use his best effort," Krell said. Burt is due to be sentenced Jan. 22 in Sacramento Superior Court.
The latest arrest follows a seven-month investigation into the outcome of a May 5 race at Cal Expo. The $3,000 claiming event was won by Green Fields, driven and owned by Jason Maier, Daniel's brother. Burt's horse, Omen, finished fourth. Daniel Maier did not drive in the race.
The investigation continues, and other arrests are possible, Krell said.
Daniel Maier, a former Rio Linda resident, had won 31 races and almost $133,000 in a driving career that started at Cal Expo in 2002. Last year, Maier won 13 of 80 starts, mostly at Cal Expo, before he relocated to New York in September. He drove Thursday at Monticello, finishing last in the third race.

It is starting to irk me seeing these comments that say that what our government is doing to the offshore industry is because of right-wing moral issues and politics. When this all plays out, you will see it is because of greed and the fact that our government wants to get their piece of this enormous pie that they are currently getting zilch of. This is all about the money and nothing about moral values. Just like the tobacco settlements, our government could care less whether you smoke or not as long as the money flows into the treasury. No money flow into the treasury from gambling is a big problem which they intend to fix. Like the old saying goes..if you want the answer to a question...follow the money.

exactly right... but it should end:

follow the white man, who has the money.

Once America finds a way to profit from this online gambling, they're going to legalize it probably. Not only that, it will probably be bigger than powerball (almost obvious). The powerball won't just go up 5 MIL a day--it's be going up 20 MIL/day.

I heard there's an island up in the North Sea they are trying to sell. Only a couple MILLION but eh, why don't we just buy it out... have our own banks, and our own online casino/book? Sound like a plan?
