They might be giving these guys a chance to voluntarily get out of the biz, before persuing them. But who knows what's really going on behind-the-scenes? I do know that there's a lot of offshore books and gamblers who are extremely comfortable right now. The offshore sports gaming environment has turned into a Vietnam night jungle patrol so dark you can't see your hand in front of your face, where there are ambushes waiting, trip-wires and mines, and shit just generally jumping out at you. You sleep with your hand on your weapon (your money) and one eye open.

It is starting to irk me seeing these comments that say that what our government is doing to the offshore industry is because of right-wing moral issues and politics. When this all plays out, you will see it is because of greed and the fact that our government wants to get their piece of this enormous pie that they are currently getting zilch of. This is all about the money and nothing about moral values. Just like the tobacco settlements, our government could care less whether you smoke or not as long as the money flows into the treasury. No money flow into the treasury from gambling is a big problem which they intend to fix. Like the old saying goes..if you want the answer to a question...follow the money.

Exactly! Our gov't just wants a way to regulate the gaming, so they can tax the shit out of it. I bet, after they've done what's necessary to cut 95% of the online gaming, from off-shore sources..... Within 2 years they'll legalize gaming from US Casinos, online.

Btw, how come a huge conglomerate, like MGM-Mirage, doesn't have any online sportsbooks?

Maybe...don't run off to Canada and marry some manly-looking Cannuck woman just yet.

We're in Nam now.

Pinny had the integrity to pay everyone their balances. Others aren't going to have the same integrity when it's time to scramble for the golden parachutes.

My buck says that the next domino will fall with Netteller 'ceasing' operation some point in the midst of March Madness. I'll say the first week of March. It will take a few weeks for the Feds to really turn the screws.

If I recall correctly, wasn't Neteller started in Canada? I remember signing up with them back when they used the smart card reader in such. The customer service guy that set me up talked like one of the McKenzie brothers with all his "a-boots" and such.

The glass is still 3/4 full. I've been looking at some very nice condos on the coast of Australia. As long as 95% of the free world continues to be free, I'm not too worried.

There is only so much shit you can take in this country.

Why cant these fu***** guys stay out of the USA if they know the US GOV has had a hard on for gambling shit for the last year now?

Because they are like the guys that fill this board everyday thinking nothing has changed and the us govt isnt serious about enforcement.

Has this story been verified by anyone yet or not? Surely someone else can say this is either true or not by now. I can't imagine it being false, I hope Sting wouldn't just make this story up out of the clear blue sky for the hell of it, but it's odd nobody else knows about it yet. If it's true this is a very disturbing message to us all.

Doesnt matter. There will always be others to take their place. If neteller and others are arrested or leave a whole new crop of hungry entrepreneurs will move in. There is too much demand and too much money to be made not to provide the service. The government can harrass but they cant shut down the industry. At best they can dent it for short periods of time. Any attack on gambling will be about as successful as the governments attack on drugs.

Woody, its called fear. Are you not reading these posts of gamblers pulling their money?

Is anyone going to post up their gambling bankroll tomorrow at Neteller?

Maybe I should re-word my post with something like interrupt online gambling, but I think you get the idea.

So if the report is true the Feds are not enforcing any law but are trying to enforce a run on the bank, so to speak. OK, I can agree with that. Citizens living in a fascist state must spend a lot of time looking over their shoulder.

Cheap!

Miami is so ridiculously overpriced.

When I was on the gold coast about 4 years ago, I almost bought a 2 bedroom in what was to be the highest building in the southern hemisphere right on the beach. It was something like $10,000 down and $75/week for 30 years... I may have the numbers wrong now, but the total was well under $90,000 US. The only reason I didnt do it was the sellers were closed the whole weekend I was there and then I sobered up and realized I did not need a condo 18 hours away - but sure would have been cool to invite chicks to my condo on an Australian beach.

That's a nice thought and it may, or may not prove to be true. You're completely ignoring the effects of the short-term disaster that could result from an upheaval in which a lot of people (me, in particular) could get f***ed out of a lot of money. It happened with BOS, and almost happened at WWTS. Everyone's interest in this is not just to see the offshore industry survive, but to do so without getting f***ked out of our money in the process.
