See any protests on the horizon in those states ? Or everyone enjoying the gov’t cheese?

Republicans usually are fucking terrible at organizing and funding their protests.
Where as the Democrats are excellent at the art of organizing and funding their
protests. And with the issue being Political, it would require the organizing skills
of the Democrats who want the Lock Downs to end, to have any effect. They know
the art form of a successful protests and how to control the narrative and the optics.
Republican protesters do not understand the art form and the little nuances that make
a successful protests.

Numbers mean shit in any protests.

A well organized protest of 1,000 people will have a better result than a un-organized group of 2,000 people.

There is a certain group of people or kind of Ass Hole that I am noticing. Ass Holes that work in Offices and
they dont like their fellow Ass Holes at the Office in the desk/cubicle next to them. So they are loving working
from home, etc. And they are always championing the continuation and extending of the Lock Downs.

This is true a lot of places...

The government knew what they were doing with these hand outs and the sheep ate it up...

the problem I see doing that and staying home is, you can only do that for so long.. You might not have a job to come back to sitting on the sidelines collecting unemployment

Thats a great point. I totally forgot about that factor in all of this.

If I am not mistaken I think there is like a $600 Bonus on top of what they would already get.
The max in Washington is like $550 to $600 according to the Local News reports on all that.
So some could be potentially getting up to $1,150 to $1,200 a week when adding that bonus $600.
Oregon I have no clue how theirs is structured. I do not get the Portland TV stations here. So not
really sure what dollar amounts they can get up to in Oregon. I just see the Washington news reports
on my Eastern Washington TV News.

Maybe some of those people depending on where they are at in their Lives are foolishly championing
the Lock Down because that bonus weekly $600 they get on top of whatever the normal weekly amount
is for them. Throw in the Food thing they qualify for and the minimum Stimulus of $1,200 plus whatever else.

You might have a portion of society that wants to see this last longer because ironically their making more
with what has happened. Than say the people who are taking a massive hit financially and are on the other
side of the financial spectrum in Life.

I'm in that boat too.

Getting about $250 more a week than my normal paycheck.

An extra $2400 a month is crazy. :icon_conf

The $600 federal runs out at the end of July.

Most people never qualify for that much in state money, but the fed govt. knows the financial nightmare that lies ahead. Some industries are going to hurting for a long time.

Whats the vibe in Portland right now ?

I have been meaning to tune in to the Lars Larson radio show
(local regional show that is centered around oregon/washington).
But I have not had a chance to.

So whats your take on the vibe up there.

Since this is an election year, look for that to be extended far beyond July, so get what you can while it lasts. I'm not saying that I agree with what the government is doing from a policy standpoint, but government policy rarely makes sense. However, I certainly agree with people not wanting to work all week when they're being paid more money while sitting at home.

Also, people don't have to sit at home. Utilize the opportunity to earn from a side hustle, sharpen or learn some new skills, complete extra tasks that always exist while the paid holiday lasts.

Max. Weekly Benefit Amount

Massachusetts $823 (Individual) up to $1,234 (w/dependents)

Oregon $648

Washington $790

https://www.savingtoinvest.com/maximum-weekly-unemployment-benefits-by-state/

It varies quite a bit among states, but $1,700 in Massachusetts is some damn good money to find just about anything else to do besides going to work, at least thru July or the extensions expire.

I wouldn't throw away a good job if recalled with mandatory return to work orders, but for any job that was mostly bullshit prior to being laid off. I'd avoid the phone calls. Regardless, I think for many people all they have to say to remain off work is they're ill, taking care of an ill family member, or don't have childcare with schools being closed.

Toss in that federal $600 kicker bonus and people should be milking this for every penny its worth.

Captain, Sir thats some really interesting info/numbers involved.

Might explain why some people are not as motivated as some others to see everything get back to normal.
Throw in the Food Cards and Stimulus Checks and what ever else might be available to them out there now
and when you add it all up, it explains why some are not as put off by the whole shut down/lock down going on.

The campaign speeches and commercials based around all of this will be interesting.

And there isn't any shot that the $600 fed weekly kicker bonus ends before the November elections or during 2020. Trump and just about every incumbent will want to avoid that many angry voters. At least until after November.

Once again the Republicans have agreed to more deficit spending to bail out themselves and their wealthy friends and donors. Democrats are getting their piece of the action for they're own special interests.

Been going on for years and I don't expect Trump to do anything different, because he seems to be fine with blowing trillions with interest rates at zero.

Democrats and leftists have wanted UNIVERSAL BASIC INCOME for decades, but they knew during normal times most decent people would not approve such nonsense and Republicans would push back. Well, this corona virus is their shot to finally implement UBI. Trump and enough Republicans seem to be willing to agree to it now since it includes other provisions to bail out their corporate, wall street, hedge fund and banking friends, in hopes to keep this bubble economy from falling apart. Generous irs, sba, and extra unemployment handouts are steps towards UBI. These handouts are back door bank and wall street bailouts. Millions of working class, jobless, locked down, Americans wouldn't be paying their credit cards, mortgages, student loans, car notes, rent and other bills are paying them with the handouts. Without those payments, the banks and whoever else holds the notes for all the debt would be bankrupt, so expect further handouts.

As an Indy Voter whose not affiliated with either party, my Republican friends always get pissed when
I bring up how Trumps son-in-law Jared Kushner whose his Senior Advisor is the one running the show.
Kushner is a Donor Class whore. He lets Trump do his thing at the Rallies and on Twitter, but behind the
scenes him and Ivanka ( two life long ultra Liberals) reign him in and call the shots.

A great read on all of this is the book: "Kushner, Inc." by Vicky Ward
