Royler wrote "I would sat the true lock of the card is Theron for Best Actress. If you're playing ugly or retarded, it's awards gold. Period. I wouldn't bother with any 'dog in that category. I just don't think she'll be overcome."

Thats funny! Did you see "Bowfinger"? Eddie Murphy tells his agent "Find me a role as a retarded slave and Ill get an oscar" or something along those lines.

I heard some critics the other day saying that they think Bill Murray may end up with best actor because "Its his time"

I firmly believe that Murray has overtaken Penn as the favorite right now. And, I don't think Theron is a lock by any stretch of the imagination.

I'm not a man for profanity but "SHIT! SHIT! SHIT! SHIT! SHIT!":

There's no displayed odds for Best Cinematography.

Someone's forced the odds of:

* Master and Commander into (-200) from (+100) for Best Sound Editing,
* Into The West to win Best Song from (-140) to (-250),
* Capturing The Friedmans and The Fog of War are now (-110) joint favourites to win Best Documentary Feature as opposed to being (+100) and (+150) respectively,
* Mystic River is into (-120) to win Best Adapted Screenplay.

....I don't have an angle for anything to make a decent profit on now!

Cinematography was still 12-1 Monday night for Seabiscuit but they must have had a little too much action for comfort, so they yanked it must have been Tuesday morning.

Sound of Silence, stay the hell out of this thread, unless you are going to contribute something and, since I doubt you will, just stay out..period.

Oren, and the rest of you guys, I hope you played Seabiscuit in Cinematography at +1200, as they are now down to +150. This might be one of the biggest mistakes in the line in a long, long time.

jcambert:

I'll post in whichever threads I choose, thank you very much. And if you continue to act like a "holier than thou" great prognasticator, I'll continue to point out where you've made some of the worst calls in "movie betting history".

My beef with your runs far more than you just beeing arrogant about your selections (which I don't seem to recall have any officially documented record attached to them -- strange how that is), but also with you pushing a play and saying others were morons for taking the other side of that play, and then your play losing big... Then when we kind of snicker at you, you resort to making up things I said and bets I made with no proof whatsoever.

I've never seen any kind of official record from you in this or any other "real" sport wagering -- yet you expect us to believe you make a living off of it. That's funny

JP,

I certainly enjoy reading your contributions.
I would much rather read informed opinions than somebdoy who refuses to admit that +137 is not 2.37-1. I think Sound of Silence may be better off attacking people who dont even understand the basic math(s) of wagering and then continue to insist on being right.
Good call on the Cinematography. Not sure what has happened to Olympic. Their nos are very poor - look at the %'s on best actress.
By the way do you know exactly who can vote for the Cinematogaphy Oscar? Is it only the 170 Cinematographers who are members of the Academy?

As far as I know, anyone who is a member of the academy can vote for cinematography. I do know that there are certain categories (like foreign film), where the voters must prove that they have seen each film, however, I believe that anyone can vote in Cinematography. If I'm wrong, please correct me, as I'm not certain on this one.

And, Sound of Silence, as I see you are at it again, maybe you can't tell, but, you aren't wanted in this thread. I'm sure you are popular in tons of other places (like maybe all the rooms in your house), but you aren't popular in this thread, probably because you have nothing to contribute. If I'm wrong, prove it. Contribute something. Let's see your analysis on one of the Oscar races.

By the way, Sound, I don't "expect" you to believe anything. Frankly, I don't give a rat's ass WHAT you believe. I'm not a tout, and, I don't sell my picks, so why on earth would I care what you believe? I'm simply stating a fact. Now, as you can see, I've posted all my plays on here for the Oscars, with reasoning. I may come out on the losing end, but, at the very least, I feel I've contributed to this board in some manner. I think that's much more than what you can say.

One more thing. I have read your other posts, and, you seem to make a habit of berrating people and calling them liars, etc, but, you rarerly, if ever, contribute anything of value. Why don't you try getting a life?

Why don't you try getting a life? Good one... What are you, 7?

As for my insight on things -- why not do a search and you'll find I amassed a pretty impressive record movie betting last year -- I think actually picked up 20.5 units on just the MTV Movie Awards alone... Difference is I never came in with a holier than thou attitude, and I never made up anything about anyone else when things weren't going my way -- you did.

You're a joke... I'm glad you've got these newbies in here thinking you're hot shit, but you'll fold just like you did last year and then disappear for a while until things blow over and people forget what a fool you made out of yourself.

But keep coming back with those "you have no life" and "you aren't popular" jokes... If I was an angst-ridden teen, those might actually hurt a little bit

Again, try contributing something. What are your thoughts on the best actress race? Do you not see that you are getting absolutely NO support? Forget the "newbies" as you put it. Oren isn't supporting you either. Nor is anyone else on here. Get over yourself and post something contributory, or just stay the hell out of my thread?

Again, try getting a life.

Wow being called a newbie must be akin to being asked for my id despite being 37. Makes me feel much better.
JP, I checked the academy rules and it appears you were spot on - that in itself may cause WW111 - re the voting though it appears the nominations are chosen by specialists which does make the difference in the nominees between the Oscars and the ASC rather puzzling.
Let's hope the ASC members who voted for Seabiscuit are the cinematographer members of the Academy.

I've contributed plenty in the past -- but have since moved on now that most of the books have moved to limits that just don't make movie betting a worthwhile investment for me.

As for support, where was I looking for support? *I* know what a fool you are. *I* know you make up lies about people when you get revealed as a fool. *I* know how stupid you looked calling everyone else morons for being on the opposite side of you in a bet that you lost by a longshot. *I* know that if and when it happens again you'll just lay low for a few months then come back.

You opened up this can of worms when you tried to downplay you looking like a fool by trying to claim I made some bet that there is no record of me ever making.

I'll stay in your thread as long as I like, thank you very much.

And BTW... For someone who has over twice as many posts as I do despite only being registered a month before I was, you're the last person that needs to be lecturing me on having a life

But here, if it makes you happy:

50 First Dates 3-Day: UNDER 40 million

Academy Awards:

Best Actor: Sean Penn -200

Now showing incredible value that people have been jumping on the Bill Murray train. Murray may win it, but to only have to lay a -200 chalk for Penn's performance in Mystic River is well worth it.

Best Actress: Theron will win, but no value at -400. Only other potential winner IMO is Keisha and she has some value at +1200.

Best Adapted Screenplay: LotR: RotK +200

Best Art Direction: Master and Commander has value at +700.

Best Costume Design: Last Samurai has value at +1500.

Best Foreign Film: Barabarian Invasions -400. Still a small price to pay in this category where the winner tends to be the one with the most name recognition.

Best Picture: I think RoTK will win, but getting +650 on Mystic River has value.

Best Supporting Actor: No opinion except it won't be Del Toro.

Razzies:

Worst Actor: Affleck -110
Worst Actress: Lopez -140
Worst Picture: Gigli -250

I'm riding nobody's coattails, however, I'm not dumb enough to think I'm the best capper and, I will ALWAYS share my thoughts, and, if someone else knows more than me, I will listen.

I'm done with you, because, frankly, you have demonstrated to me that you are all but worthless. Good luck with you.

By the way, Sean Penn has value at -200? That's a hoot. Laying 2 to 1 on a guy that, right now, may not even be the favorite. That's value, huh?

*sigh*... You just never learn. All your arrogance and boasting, and you've looked like a fool more times than not on your "guaranteed" picks.

Then you try to play off that you are a professional gambler -- like someone who gambles professionally has the time to be messing with $200 limits on movies.

Then you are posting on public message boards for help on college hoops and NBA -- here's a hint: professional gamblers have a system, you won't find any that post for advice or ride anyone's coattails on forums.

Not surprising, you have no verifiable record here or anywhere else to backup any claims you make -- so frmo what I've read you're nothing more than a fraud. I'll be happy to put up my college hoops, NBA and NFL record against yours any day of the week.

Fraud with regards to what? If you had any intelligence, you would know that the word fraud, without something to defraud you out of, is meaningless. If you call me a fraud, you are implying that I am trying to defraud someone of something. What would that be? You are a complete imbecile. You are a lonely, patehtic loser with nothing to contribute, who spends his days posting on message boards, bashing people for posts that they make. Oh, and, by the way, in case you haven't noticed, you aren't wanted here, as not a single person has come to your defense. Do you not know when you aren't wanted?

I'm ending this discussion right now, because, frankly, I find you amusing, and, I feel like I'm being nagged at by a 12 year old kid wanting me to hold his hand while he cc****es the street. Good luck to you. Any further posts from you will be left without response.

Again, amusing that you've got over twice as many posts as I do, yet you point out that *I* spend my days posting on message boards... Doesn't shock me that you fail to see the humor in that.

Fraud, by definition, does not imply that you are trying to DEFRAUD someone. Nothing is funnier than someone trying to nitpick something and then being wrong on it. Being a fraud simply means you misrepresent yourself, which is what you are doing when you claim you are a "professional gambler".
