5 dimes is saying that Hopkins WAS a -210 fav and they hung a prop saying Hopkins WAS a +210 dog to get more knockdowns.

Does that make sense?

don't follow boxing ( and the history of these 2 fighters) close enough to comment, but the +0.5 probably has a lot to do with it. Look at the totals...the UNDER 0.5 (the "total") is at -140...meaning NO KNOCKDOWNS in the fight at all is a decent sized fav. now taking one of the sides +0.5 has to be a huge favorite. Maybe I am reading it incorrectly due to the formatting, but I believe this is the case.

look at all the lines including ML, total, handicap, etc and you will get a sense of "why"

quote:
I wasn't gonna get involved in this, but I bet the other side. I felt it was a no brainer that Oscar would get knocked down more times than Hopkins. 1-0 Oscar.

One other thing..

Here is the line posted by 5DIMES

quote:
½-273 o½ +120 +325 o½ +475 u½ -650

TIMES HOPKINS KNOCKED DOWN +½-- would mean that if he didnt get knocked down you would be a winner. +1/2 means UNDER .5.. Perhaps the folks at 5DIMES didnt complete 3rd grade mathematics.

u½ -650 shouldnt even have been listed as the +1/2 covers under 1/2

AGAIN +1/2 KNOCKDOWNS MEANS TO WIN THE BOXER CANNOT GET KNOCKED DOWN. Therefore poster boxer won.

knocked down is not the same as knocked out. He can be knocked dopwn numerous times over the course of a fight, and so can his opponent.

The line at -650 is the "team total" line which is the odds on TIMES HOPKINS KNOCKED DOWN ONLY

No offense. Looks like you need a refresher in 3rd grade english. Maybe you should work for 5Dimes.

Knocked-down and knockdowns mean the same exact thing. Knockedout however means something different. The prop never mentioned anything about knockouts. Re-read the prop, boxer was a winner. At worst the bet should be voided and he should get his original wager amount.

there is a difference between 'knocked' & 'knocks'...

PROP was graded correctly....

Just like on a Black Jack table... the way other people play their cards has absolutely ZERO effect on wether you are a winner or loser... OVER THE LONG HAUL.... (inside joke for baseballguy)

Christ, still clinging to that theory are we??

Now come on, dont be a party pooper, you know the guy should atleast have his money refunded. Clearly he got bad info and didnt know what the wager entailed.

How many times a boxer is 'knocked' down....

IS VERY DIFFERENT FROM

how many time a boxer 'knocks' down his opponent...

Just like the BlackJack thread, I think you need to go back to schook baseball guy.... LOL

This is the part of your post that I was refering to.

quote:
AGAIN +1/2 KNOCKDOWNS MEANS TO WIN THE BOXER CANNOT GET KNOCKED DOWN.

He certainly can get knocked down and still win. If each is knocked down once, twice, three times. As long as the number of knockdowns is EQUAL, the +1/2 knockdown will win...

not sure why you feel the need for personal attacks in every post as well, but to each his own I guess.

Sorry nothing personal.

I just got a little pissed when you tried to convice wilhelm to move this thread to an area that gets no coverage.

It is a consesus between both majorwager and here that the prop was at best confusing. It is important for others to see how a book conducts themselves when a dispute arrises.

If he called & asked about the prop & was given wrong information then yes... I agree....

IF HOWEVER,

he did not... then NO, the prop was graded correctly...

FWIW, I think 5dimes was fvcking around with this prop as it was very poorly worded & they must take some accountability for that...

Listen my son,

Every action that occurs in this galaxy has a reaction. A hand sequence can affect the later card distribution from that SHOE.. Notice, I said shoe, not every single hand you will ever play.

I am not talking about 1 SHOE....

I am talking over the LONG HAUL.... hundreds of shoes....

Over only 1 SHOE a 'Bad Player' has equal amount of chance of hurting you as he does helping you... it is 50/50.... Over the long haul.... 100's of shoes... the 'Bad Player' has absolutely no effect on wether you are a winner or loser long term....

That being said since the house has the edge in Black Jack, you will always be a loser long term anyway unless you can count cards....

But with an edge so slight... 49.5%, the player can conceivable maximize free Comps (meals etc) & come out a winner....

Hey hey we agree.

Of course I know that a single hand cannot effect every single future shoe.

Cheers!

5 dimes is so pissy over a petty ammount. makes it clear no one should do business with them. they would rather steal 900 bucks and face the ridecule of this thread with hundreds of prespective customers reading rather than doing the honorable thing and refunding the wager. what a bunch of jokers.
