Annemiek van Vleuten, hurt in Crash today was also hurt bad when she got hit by a car while cycling exactly one year to the day of today's Crash.

Annemiek van Vleuten was hit by a car while training in Italy. She sustained a broken collarbone, fractured ribs and a collapsed lung.
"A car driver didn’t see me, took a turn and hit me off my bike”, the 32-year-old wrote on her personal website. "The result is that I now lie here with three broken ribs and a broken collarbone. I also suffered a collapsed lung due to the broken ribs. They already helped me for that in the hospital."
Exactly one year later, to the exact DAY, Annemiek van Vleuten appeared to be racing to Olympic Gold after leading over the final climb and dropping American Mara Abbott on the treacherous descent some six miles from the finish.
But the Dutchwoman became a victim of the same dangerous hairpins that claimed the two leaders of the men’s road race the previous day, with former Tour de France winner Vincenzo Nibali left nursing a double fracture of the collarbone. Aussie Richie Porte also broke a shoulder blade.

Her gold medal dreams came to a crashing end as she suffered a dramatic accident and hurtled down the final hill stage with just six miles to go

‘I’m really just waiting for news on Van Vleuten,’ said Chris Boardman live on television. ‘It’s very hard to concentrate when you see a crash like that,’ he said.
Van Vleuten later tweeted: 'I am now in the hospital with some injuries and fractures, but will be fine. Most of all super disappointed after best race of my career.'
British cyclist Lizzie Armitstead said that seeing her rival lying motionless on the roadside was a ‘very difficult thing to pass’. ‘I really hope she’s OK,’ she added.
Another of Britain’s Olympic champions, Victoria Pendleton, said: ‘It is an absolutely incredibly dangerous course.’

Stephanie spends most the season looking out for her teammates. I've lost count of the number of photos I've taken this year where she's looking over her shoulder to check everyone is ok. Tearing up the climb at the Elsy Jacobs prologue she got to focus on her own performance, putting in an impressive time too.
Speeding through the Drenthe woodland. It's a lovely place to spend a sunny Spring morning although Gaby probably didn't have time to enjoy the view.
