MNAT, that how I did it for the bases db which only deals with MLs. But if I have something like:
H score.........V score.........H-spreadD.........V-spread
88................ 83................ -9............... 9
92................ 95................ 2.5................ -2.5
101................ 96................ -3 ................ 3
I want to create a separate column now for "Dog" and "Fave". No rush, I'll be out of town for a couple days.
Pops, for some reason my e-mail to you keeps getting sent back. I was using a different database that wasn't nearly as extensive as yours. The strongest correlation was b/w certain umps and the line moves (for totals), but you already knew that.
The reason I don't think I found anything was because all of this info is already available so there's really no reason for it to cause a line move. But now that I have your master handy, there is a lot more stuff for me to work with. I'm out of town from tomorrow until Monday, but I'll get my hands dirty starting monday night.

Nice work, PC! Good to know there's some Excel gurus around these parts. It works for line 1, but I get a "VALUE" error with the subsequent data set (e.g. flip the score, and pretend the road team is fav'd).
pops, any chance you have 2008's full master, which games could be added to the current master. Intent, obviously, is to just have a little bit larger sample size to draw from. On the flip side, I understand how much teams change, situations change, etc., but some of these cats/pivots would benefit from multiple years of sample size. How about a PDWS with 2008's games? Will that bring the current master sheet to its knees? lol
i believe i do. i'll check and upload. every year is diff plus many of the cols have changed as well as the calc so be careful if you just try to dump all into one

dam you guys are making my dick stiff with all these calc and data

below is 2008. make sure you change pitcher and ump naming between the two years. it's 22mb. couldnt get it to upload w/o using compression

The first version had some bad #'s in the 2nd half of formula, since I wrote them as separate pieces and then merged them together.

Pops, talked to a guy who does only totals and says his key stat on umps is first strike %.Is there anywhere you can get such info?I believe it to be relevent as I know batters hit about -.140 less when the count is not in thier favor.
someone prob tracks that but i dont have any site that pub it. so would be almost impossible to track

I think if you have mlbtv for your internet you can go back and watch each game so i guess you could go thru and watch each first pitch, probably pretty time consuming....

lesser known teams have no place to hide once they hit the 16 as they get scouted much better
butler only one left and doubt msu can overcome there injuries with tenn sunday. wv not in great shape either
