Slatter - the unit risked/to win is a more of an American Odds thing, because you're often betting -105, -110 lines. Generally when you lay down at those odds, you're betting to win a 100. But, if you took the dog odds of say +110, you'd be betting a 100 to win 110. I'm generally betting dogs and I always use decimal odds.
That bet example you gave is Lapentti to beat Safin at odds of 2.62 (+162 in American style). I'm risking 1 unit from a 50 unit bankroll...
