This guy evidently never served abroad or in combat, he was stationed in New Mexico, and he was dishonorably discharged for domestic assault. I also don't believe it's Air Force personnel that suffer from the mental illnesses many others do.

The worst mass killings recently are either related to fundamental Muslim Terrorism or some sort of mental illness.

Orlando, San Bernadino, NYC last week, 9/11 were all Muslim Terrorism

The two church shootings, Newton CT, VA tech, LV, the CO school and theater shootings were all mentally deranged psychopaths.

What shooting was blamed on PTSD? maybe OR, I don't recall

I would also point out no generation experienced war more so than the greatest generation did in WWII, and these mass murders weren't a problem for them

Having said all that, I concur military members need our support for many reasons, I just don't see PTSD as being the reason for these senseless attacks

There is much greater access to the type of firearm used to carry out mass shootings now.

A shooting in a church where there's little to no cover could be carried out any given Sunday with your run-of-the-mill handgun.

I was responding to the bolder sentence in Willie’s post. You can tell because I quoted him and bolded the part that I was responding to.

In 1965 I could ride the NYC subway to school with a bolt action rifle strapped across my back. I could also take the rifle into school for shooting club practice afterwards.

The problem today is the culture. It has zero to do with the weapons.

The problem is not guns.

So Leftists have now:

Burned buildings on a college campus and within some American cities

Attacked, desecrated and/or torn down historical statues

Attacked a Republican Senator at his home breaking 5 of his ribs

Shot Republican party congressman and senators on a baseball field

Shot and Killed Americans attending a country music concert

and Shot and Killed numerous Christians within their church including at least 12 children.

If this asshole was dishonorably discharged fro domestic assault, should he own a gun legally?

I don't believe a person with a history of violence should legally own a gun

ATLANTA (AP) — The gunman who slaughtered 26 people at a Texas church was able to buy weapons because the Air Force failed to report his domestic-violence conviction to the federal database that is used to conduct background checks on would-be gun purchasers, authorities said Monday.
Federal officials said the Air Force didn't submit Devin Patrick's Kelley's criminal history even though it was required to do so by Pentagon rules.
Kelley, 26, was found guilty of assault in an Air Force court-martial in 2012 for abusing his wife and her child and was given 12 months' confinement and a bad-conduct discharge in 2014. That same year, authorities said, he bought the first of four weapons.
Under Pentagon rules, information about convictions of military personnel for crimes like assault should be submitted to the FBI's Criminal Justice Investigation Services Division.
It's the kind of lapse that gun-control advocates say points to loopholes and failures with the background check system.
At issue is the Lautenberg Amendment, enacted by Congress in 1996. It was designed to prohibit people convicted of domestic violence from buying or possessing a firearm regardless of whether the crime was a felony or a misdemeanor.
"This is exactly the guy the Lautenberg Amendment is supposed to prevent from possessing a firearm," said Rachel VanLandingham, a professor at Southwestern Law School in Los Angeles and a retired Air Force lieutenant colonel and former judge advocate. "Of course, the law only works if folks are abiding by the law."

Ah, I don't know. Guy gets in a mutual bar fight one night and gets arrested. Should he be able to own a guy? Sure. Maybe a pattern though I can see.

That is NOT a solution today, tomorrow or ever for that matter.

It wont happen but there needs to be some gun control. Give me a break with all that constitutional rights shit. They need to rewrite it. It's old as fuck.

A history of violence is violence occurring on more than one occasion.

One thing I hate about politics is the war between the parties. Stupidest shit ever. Constant blame game. But can't fuck with Republicans bullshitting about guns. They don't budge. The NRA only thrives because of Republicans. No regulations. No control. There's no need for a military veteran discharged to have an automatic rifle mowing people down. Most of them lose their minds by the time they are done with the the military.

Thank you for your service, eh?

I guess I see a history of violence as grey to include domestic assault. Plenty of women make that shit up but in this guy's case, no way should he have had a gun.
