I call BS on that ! How does it get leaked ?

The amounts seem wrong, for one thing

James 23,400 risks only 1,399 to get to 24,799

Opponent goes

26,600, risks 20,201 for 46,801

If James won his bet which he allegedly did, it doesn't put him even over what the opponent started with.

He's too much of a no limit/ all-in type of guy for this bet sizing to make any sense to me

I don't think he goes out like that !

Fake news ?
SMH

I'll believe it when I see it

I know James is way smarter than me, but I see no logic in the bet sizing here.

He will bet strange amounts with an insurmountable lead, just playing around and using numbers that have personal meaning to him.
Somebody please explain to me why the amounts make any sense !

I could certainly be Missing something here, would love to know what the logic is here !

Publicity stunt ? , Seems about as likely as a leak ?

I agree with Doug, doesn't make sense. I've watched probably 50% of the episodes during this guys run and no way does he bet that low amounty, especially chasing a leader. He's basically assuming the girl is going to be wrong with her answer?? Doubt that! But I'll be watching tonight.

maybe he got tired and wanted to go home ?
but would think he would want to break the money record first

His bet sizing was about perfect in final jeopardy. Not sure if it is real or not, but if so, he was very smart about how much he bet

after looking over the video I believe the reason why he bet that amount was because he COULDN'T beat her.

He had 23,800 and she had 26,600
the only hope for James to win was she gets it wrong, so there was no reason to even bet it all because her bet was $20,201

Exactly. When you trail in final Jeopardy there is really no benefit to risking a lot. You know your opponent will bet enough to guarantee victory if they get it right.

James stargety changes when he is trailing, this was the first time. He no longer controls his own destiny. He know the lady is going to protect here lead with a bet that covers him if he tries to double up. Also, if he gets it wrong he still has one dollar more then the guy in third if he doubles up and James gets it wrong.

I see that now, she bet enough where he couldn't catch her.
But he would have to ASSUME she is going to bet that amount? What if she got cold feet and bet a smaller amount? No one knows until the final questions is read.

I can see the result being leaked out since this happened weeks ago, what I don't get is how actual video of it got leaked, no real reason to watch it now !

How is his move optimal unless he didn't like the category and wanted to put the onus on her to win?

If he went all in then he would've won, no?

I definitely don't think he sandbagged, he was 60k short of Jennings record. Even if he was getting fatigued by the process and wanted to monetize outside of Jeopardy, he would've atleast taken out the all time high in money won.

Who really knows if he took it easy once he realized he had a worthy opponent. He can’t shit the bed without it being obvious. She was a worthy opponent and put up a good fight and beat him.

He only found 1 daily double and that was his first pick so he could only bet a $1000. She got the other ones and she didn’t miss an answer.
He really didn’t have a chance. Smart people, no one got a question wrong until late when that middle guy was just buzzing in to chase the other two.
