I think by the time the Rose Bowl game has started, there will be all these people in here telling everyone how USC is so overrated, beaten nobody etc. etc. and PSU is got value written all over it. Some will even say PSU will beat them outright. C'mon B-10 homers. What's holding you back?

How may times over the last 7 years have we heard the same thing about a big USC game going in and how many time has USC lost? Or better yet, how many times have they NOT whuped the sh*t out of whoever?

no i just seen this post not ignoring it....why would i take penn state and give u 10 when i can take them plus points?? im not a penn state homer eitehr, as a matter of fact im not a fan of any team. i am a fan of the sport of college football and enjoy watching good matchups

As expected you don't have the balls to back up the statement you made which no one forced you to make.

Typical bullshit........

First of all, you can't win big games the way USC does. Or make that OOC games regardless of whether or not it's a big game. How do sports fans everywhere do with that? If it's an SEC team, forget it. You don't play anyone but maybe 3 "big games" a year as long as your conference isn't down. You never take on anybody out of your own conference except on RARE occasions, if ever, so you don't have to worry about it. Nice.

Next. I have to tell you this because it's something you probably don't know, but when you toss the Beavers in with Stanford, that makes no sense because the Beavers are ranked and deservedly so.

You can rag on any team for losing a game it should have won. Everyone gets upset once in a while, but when it's USC, it's rare and there's nothing else for you to rag on them about. May as well hang onto it. It's all you got. Pitiful.

I'll just pass on what my high school coach used to say.
"Rankings are what people think you are, Records show people who you are. If you win every game you will be #1"

Anyone who has lost has no gripe, each had ample opportunity to control their own destiny. USC Penn OK TX FL AL

Oops I guess that statement works better for high school since they have a playoff format. ex Ball ST Boise ST Utah

My point is if any of these teams would have taken care of business(all of there business) this thread would not exist. USC should not be fired up for not getting in, that should of happened at half time vs Oregon ST.

You are right Conan, i will rag on Any team not just usc. i think pete carrol is the best coach in the nation and theres not really a close second. i dont hate usc by any means, i just dont buy how everyone thinks they should always be favored over everyone, that is homerism at its finest. egd, from a gambling standpoint it makes no sense for me to wager on penn state minus points when i can take them + pts, if you cant understand that, i dont know what to tell you

USC will have no problems with Penn State. Talk about overrated, that team is the best in the Big 10 but outside the conference they can't compete with the elite teams in the Big 12, SEC or USC.

As for USC beating the Gators? Get real, that's not going to happen either.

McIrish, I disagree that USC can't beat them, but I appreciate your honesty. Sad but true that game won't happen if that's what you meant. I agree with that statement. Who wouldn't give up a Saturday afternoon in any city in the USA to watch that game? But it's not going to happen unless both end up in the NC or if there's a playoff system in 6 or 7 years. USC travels anywhere. Florida never travels. That's disgusting.

PSU "might" score 10pts on SoCal. M I G H T.

If that line is less than 14 I'm all over the Trojans.

You really believe this year that USC has a better team than the Gators? I'm surprised by that, I really am. I respect your opinions, I don't follow the west coast much so read your thoughts on a regular basis, I just don't see how any neutral party can think USC is better than the Gators this season. Penn State? Of course. Gators? I just don't see it. I'm not one of the SEC nut huggers either, nor am I one of those Pac 10 haters, I just don't think there can be much comparison between those two teams this year. No slap on the Trojans, Gators have just been steamrolling everyone this last half of the season - offense, defense and special teams.

As for travel, the Gators have a tough SEC schedule to play already. Throw in Florida State and/or the Hurricanes most seasons and they have plenty on their plate already. Not being wise but if their big conference rivalry game was UCLA, Stanford, Oregon State (or whoever, not even sure who it is in the Pac 10) maybe they would travel across the country a little more often. You're right though, I think plenty would love to see these two giants hook up and play each other on a regular basis.

USC "might" score 10 pts on Penn St. Penn St.'s defense would be the best defense they faced all year.

Can't tell me by the results of this year that USC would score 30+ on Penn St.'s defense. Even 20+. Rose bowl being basically a home game will help though.

The main reason I think USC would prevail vs FL. McIrish is because they would be SALIVATING at the idea of playing them. USC often can't get big time schools to swap home-home. I'd have to check their advance schedule when I get the time but all I know as of now is that they will be traveling to Ohio St. next year. Face it, USC is on one hell of a roll vs big time opponents since Carroll showed up. I'd feel safe laying 4 points, possibly 6 but that's it. But like we know, that game will never happen. Not this year for sure nor next because I think Tebow will be leaving.

I'm a big believer that the fans should get to see the games they want. Too bad that the BCS etc. makes it so difficult for that scenario to happen. Even the regular BCS bowls cop out to some kind of money formula. Sportsmanship has no place in the big business of CFB these days. On the other hand, swapping out home-home and getting big TV money for doing that is a good business decision.

Wouldn't it be nice if Florida got off their asses and took their show on the road every year like USC does? USC does it for the sake of college football and to place themselves in the public spotlight. They've been that way for many years, even when the conference is strong. I just wish the rest of the bigtime programs thought the same way... for the sake of guys like you and me and the rest of CFB "fandome." Aside from that, I believe it's a championship type teams duty to defend their image as the best in their sport by deliberately making their schedule as tough as possible, then going out and proving themselves. This "safe" approach is a cop out no matter how you try to explain it.

Weren't Matt Leinart, Reggie Bush, RJ Soward, Mike Williams, Kenechi Udeze, Winston Justice, Carson Palmer 1st round picks? The jury is still more than out on Sedrick Ellis and Keith Rivers too(don't think either will do much). Troy Polamalu is about the only one who comes to mind who has exceeded expectations.
Wait a second, I thought the "proof is always in the pudding on draft day?" Wouldn't USC's countless past and future first round picks prove that they're easily the most talented, and best team in the country? What does their NFL track record have to do with what they accomplished in college? Your argument is stupid because it proves your two biggest fears. One, if they really aren't that good, then Carroll does an amazing job "coaching them up" for big games, etc, and gets them to such lofty draft status; or two, they are really are the most talented, and best, team year after year. Your hatred of this football program is equal parts sad and hilarious. Like a chihuahua trying to take down a doberman. You make no sense.

OH dear Lord you just can't stand it, can you? Every damn year, the same BS from you. UGH, you're just too stupid for words.

I will gladly admit that I am a USC hater.......basically because of the whole "we play big in big games" bs......when you can't beat average teams like Stanford and Oregon St.

However, I am a Big 11 realist....USC will beat and cover against Penn St.

USC has more talent then any team in the country year in and year out. They win big games....no doubt.....this is another big game......unfortunately for Petey, he needs to let his guys know that you have to win "non-big games" too!

USC easily scores 4+ TD's on them.

Easily? Show me results from this year that would show this.
I got results why Penn St. could easily hold them under 4+ TD's, possibly to 10 or so.

28 at home with AZ St (7 from pick six)
17 at home with Cal
17 on the road with AZ.
21 on the road with Or. St
35 at home with Ohio St (7 from pick six)

USC's defense gives their offense great field position all game and they still only manage those kind of points. I agree that USC has the most talent, but talent means nothing when you can't produce.
Again, Penn St. would be the best defense they faced all year and saying "they would score 4+ TD's easily" has no backbone and just a homer statement.
