If the Florida Gators or Oklahoma Sooners played USC at USC?

SoCal's O is weak this year. Anyone without an agenda can see that. Im not sure why, but they have underperformed all year. Will they cover against PSU? Yes the will, but that's more of a function of PSU not being able to score than it is of SoCal scoring 40pts on the Lions. JMO

I sure hope that whatever team plays USC in the bowls will give them a good game. I think PSU would have a good chance at beating them and if not keeping it within 3 to 7 points. Maybe, just maybe if this happens than all the USC HOMERS will shut up... at least until next year..

apples to oranges to grapes...Arguing about who has the biggest slong is futile on the internet. You have to get on the field of play and drop them drawers. Meet head to head so to speak. You can't do Boise beat Oregon, Oregon beat Oregon St, Oregon St beat USC therefore Bosie is better then USC. Just like you can't do USC always wins the big games so who cares if they lost to a 4 loss team they are still the greatest team ever. My suggestion(which is not a new one) is to have a playoff system, but since that won't happen for a while I would suggest everyone team from the major divisions treat their season as a single game elimination tournament for the National Championship. One loss and you know its out of your hands relying only on other teams losing & the BCS gods.
I do think we can all agree USC & Penn St had the easiest regular season tournament bracket of the major players.

Easily? Show me results from this year that would show this.
I got results why Penn St. could easily hold them under 4+ TD's, possibly to 10 or so.

28 at home with AZ St (7 from pick six)
17 at home with Cal
17 on the road with AZ.
21 on the road with Or. St
35 at home with Ohio St (7 from pick six)

USC's defense gives their offense great field position all game and they still only manage those kind of points. I agree that USC has the most talent, but talent means nothing when you can't produce.
Again, Penn St. would be the best defense they faced all year and saying "they would score 4+ TD's easily" has no backbone and just a homer statement.

i doubt u will get a response from this......he has no way to counter it with his homer goggles...great points here

Agreed, great point. But being a SC fan, they do sometimes play to their competition. I dont forsee SC putting up 28+ on Penn St, but 21-24 is not unrealistic. With that said, do you see PSU putting up ANYTHING on that SC defense??

I don't see Penn St. lighting it up, but I do see them scoring some. USC has a great defense, but hasn't really been tested with balanced offense. Penn St. has a good running game with a QB that can run and pass. 3 good WR's with a great returner in D-Will. Again, this will be the best offense that USC has seen all year. The balance and good QB play isn't something USC has seen this year.
I see 14 to 20 points, depending on the return game and field position.

I don't get peoples' love for USC? I live in SoCal and I think USC is way overrated.

Their def has good stats, but it is more to do with who they have faced than their defense? I'm not saying it's bad, just overrated. Don't think they faced one QB that would start in the Big 12 teams and the only offense that they played against that has any pulse would be Oregon. Again, they're good, but overrated.

USC's offense is above average, at best. They have the big time names, but results don't say they have big time game. They scored 17 on Arizona and Cal, not the best defences around and one was at home. Sure they scored on the state of washington, but who hasn't?

Also, I'm sure most of you would agree that the Pac10 and Big10 is about the same in strength. Penn St. dominated their conference, USC got by, yet nobody gives them a chance against the Oklahomas and Floridas, but would take USC over any of them? Both of their losses were about the same.

USC is always over hyped to death. In 2006, they were considered the best team ever in college football history, then lost to Texas. This year, they talked about this defense being the best ever, then they go out and lose to Oregon St.

USC minus the hype = 7th best team this year. Results on the field speak louder than names on paper. Alabama, Florida, Oklahoma, Texas, Texas Tech, and Penn St are all better THIS year.
Since Penn State and USC will meet in the Rose Bowl this year almost for certain, I will take USC straight up winner take all for whatever amount anyone wants to bet ! Put your $$ where your mouth is !
