3k Miami -135

I am taking the Marlins in this one. Koehler has been solid lately, allowing two earned runs or less in six out of his last eight starts, and has only surrendered one home run in his last eight starts, so I feel very confident backing him. Also, Anderson is making just his second career MLB start and I feel the many .300 hitters the Marlins have will be able to score some runs off him and the Rockies weak bullpen.

3k Cincinnati +177

I am going with the Reds in this one. Fiers has been to inconsistent for my liking with many rough starts, and I think the Reds will be able to score off him. Also the left hander Finnegan has been too good to ignore, posting a 2.98 ERA on the road, and Houston does not hit left handed pitching well, posting a .236 team batting average against lefties this season. Look for another solid outing from Finnegan as the Reds take this one on the road.

3k Cleveland -1.5 +128

The White Sox have been terrible against their counterparts in the AL Central, losing 13 of 16. I think that continues on Sunday and I predict Carlos Rodon gets hit around a bit. Carlos Carrasco will pitch well enough to get the win. Let’s take the Indians at home.

3k Chicago Cubs -1.5 +123

I am siding with the Cubs in this match up. Yes Taillon has looked good, but he faced the low scoring, injury laden Mets in both starts. The Cubs offense is a whole different animal and I think the Cubs will be able to get to the rookie Taillon. Also Hendricks has a 1.99 ERA at Wrigley Field and I think he can contain a Pirates team that is in a huge funk right now.

The Chicago Cubs are:

  • 4-1 in Hendrick’s last 5 home starts.
  • 4-1 in their last 5 games against the Pirates heading into Saturday’s action.
  • 44-18 in their last 62 games against a team with a losing record.
The Pittsburgh Pirates are:

  • 1-8 in their last 9 games against the Cubs.
  • 1-8 in their last 9 games against a right handed starter.
  • 1-7 in their last 8 road games.

3k Arizona +114

It is so hard to go with the Phillies these days. If it were Nola or Eickhoff pitching I might go with Philly against Miller but Hellickson has been bad lately, conceding a combined 11 runs in his last two starts, so I cannot back Hellickson in this match up. Arizona should score runs off Hellickson with the way he is pitching and although Miller has been bad he does have a solid 2.54 career ERA against the Phillies, plus this is the worst offense in baseball and even the struggling Miller should be able to contain them. Go with the Diamondbacks in this one.

The Arizona Diamondbacks are:

  • 4-0 in their last 4 games against the NL East.
  • 37-16 in their last 53 road games against a team with a losing record.
  • 4-0 in their last 4 Sunday games.
The Philadelphia Phillies are:

  • 0-5 in their last 5 home games.
  • 6-22 in their last 28 games,
  • 7-19 in their last 26 games against a right handed starter.

3k Colorado +100

Clemens has not pitched in the Majors since 2014 and didn’t have good numbers in the minors this year, posting a 4.30 ERA, so I think the Rockies explosive offense will be all over him in this one. Also De La Rosa looked good in his latest outing so I am confident he can limit the damage to the Marlins offense. I like the over as I think the Rockies will hit Clemens very hard, and De La Rosa won’t go deep into the game, meaning the Marlins will have some chances against the Rockies weak bullpen. I think the Rockies take this one in a high scoring ball game.

3k Texas -107

I will look for the Rangers to take this one. They have been an excellent home team this year and while Holland has struggled of late, he has pitched well at home with a 3.33 ERA in five starts, plus he is 5-2 with a 2.94 ERA in his career vs the O’s. Gausman has struggled this year, especially on the road where he has gone 0-3 with a 4.78 ERA so far. The Orioles as a team struggle on the road and that should continue here vs one of the best home teams in the league.

Here we go my friend.....

3k Chicago Cubs -140

I am taking the Cubs in this match up. Hammel has silenced the Cardinals this season, allowing just two runs in 13.1 innings pitched against them, plus he has yet to lose at Wrigley Field so I am very confident siding with him. Also, Wainwright has struggled on the road this season, posting a 6.02 ERA away from home so I think the Cubs can get to him for some runs, as I do not think the will need many to get the win in this one.

3k Toronto Under 9 -116

I know that the Toronto offense is alive and well, but Arizona is a team that pitches much better on the road than at home and Corbin is one of their starters that does as he has a 2.66 ERA on the road, compared to a 7.02 ERA at home. Marco Estrada has pitched very well at home as he comes in with a 1.77 ERA in his six home starts. Those home starts have averaged just 5.0 runs-per-game so far. Wow. Both starters should have solid showings in this game and keep the offenses from combining for no more than seven runs in this one.

Also, Wainwright has struggled on the road this season, posting a 6.02 ERA away from home so I think the Cubs can get to him for some runs, as I do not think the will need many to get the win in this one.

3k Toronto Under 9 -116 (Easy Blowout Winner 6 Runs)

I know that the Toronto offense is alive and well, but Arizona is a team that pitches much better on the road than at home and Corbin is one of their starters that does as he has a 2.66 ERA on the road, compared to a 7.02 ERA at home. Marco Estrada has pitched very well at home as he comes in with a 1.77 ERA in his six home starts. Those home starts have averaged just 5.0 runs-per-game so far. Wow. Both starters should have solid showings in this game and keep the offenses from combining for no more than seven runs in this one.

Here we go my friend....

3k Chicago Cubs -1.5 -110

I like the Cubs in this match up. Wacha allowed eight runs to the Cubs earlier this season and he has a 5.90 ERA in his career against Chicago, so I think he could be in trouble in this one. Also, Arrieta has continued his dominance all season, and has a 1.64 ERA at home and has yet to allow a home run at Wrigley Field, plus the Cardinals are only hitting a combined .197 against Arrieta, so I am very confident he can lead his team to another victory.

3k Arizona +150

Ray has been better on the road with a 3.05 ERA than at home (5.89 ERA) this season. And obviously it helps his cause he doesn’t have to worry about facing Bautista. The Jays are 0-4 in their past four inter-league games vs. a lefty starter. Happ, meanwhile, has been worse at home (4.63 ERA) than on the road (2.63).

3k Philadelphia +158

This one is more a gut call than anything. Neither team has been anything remotely close to impressive in recent weeks and in the Twins’ case, all season. Both pitchers have been dismal with ERAs north of six entering this contest. You have to give the edge to a team that showed they could play decent baseball for a stretch. I’m backing the Phillies in what could be termed a minor upset.
