There’s a reason why Pittsburgh has been discussing whether to trade for starting pitching. Liriano is one of the reasons why they need to either add another starter or two, or risk not making the playoffs. Hernandez should pitch much better after a tough first start against the White Sox.

I am going with the Red Sox in this match up. Pelfrey has been to way to inconsistent to side with him, plus he has been a hit machine, allowing a whopping 142 hits in his 105.1 innings with a .333 opponent batting average so I think the top ranked Red Sox offense will put some crooked numbers on the board against him. Wright has been solid all season, and has a dominating 7-1 record at Fenway Park this season, and I think he notches another home victory in this one.

I am taking the Giants in this contest. Reed has been abysmal so far, allowing 30 runs in his 30.2 innings pitched, and he has already surrendered nine home runs this season. Also the Giants have scored 152 runs off left handed pitching this season, the second most in the Majors, so they should be all over Reed in this one. Cain has not been good but I will take him without questions over Reed and the Reds who are horrible on the road. Go with the Giants in this one.

Just can’t go with the Yanks here as the CC Sabathia is struggling and starting to wear down, while Doug Fister is heading the other way. THe Yanks are hanging on to their slim playoff hopes, but Houston is fighting for a division title and they are the overall better team in this game. Houston’s offense is starting to complement their pitching, which has been excellent of late. This is a game that Houston has many edges in and it will show up on the scoreboard.

Time for the "5k Non Member Play of The Week" and it's going to be a good one tonight my friend...... if memory service me correctly I have lost just one so far this season!!!!

Non Member Play of The Week - 5k LA Angels +104

Duffy is pitching well since going back into the rotation for the Royals. That’s the only thing that makes this a tough decision here. Granted, Shoemaker pitched dismally in his previous outings at Kauffman Stadium but that’s a small sample size to go off. Right now, it’s all about momentum. The Angels have it, with seven wins in their last 10 games. The Royals clearly don’t as they lost seven of their last 10. Shoemaker pitches better than his last couple outings here and the Angels win on getaway day.
