I could not have been more wrong today.... here are my results from tonight.

Play of The Week

7k Cleveland -1.5 +111 (Easy Blowout Winner 6-3)

This is a game that I feel the Tribe can win easily. They have a huge pitching matchup on the mound and their offense has been very strong at home where they have gone 15-5 their last 20 games. The A’s have pulled some surprises of late, but this will not be one of them. The Tribe need this game as they look to fend off a challenge from the surging Tigers and they should get an easy win here as they have big edges all the way around.

7k Chicago Cubs -1.5 -106 (Lost)

I am taking the Cubs in this match up. Arrieta has been dominant at home where he as a 1.61 ERA with a .194 opponent batting average so I am confident he can silence the Mariners offense, and get back on track. Also the Cubs are one of the best hitting teams against left handed pitching, scoring 157 runs against lefties, the second highest in the Majors, so Miley could be in trouble. Miley has been very inconsistent this season with several rough outings, and I think the Cubs will be all over him in this one.

This is an easy one for me, as I expect Jaime Garcia to start pitching well coming down the stretch, and I have no faith in Jarred Cosart right now. I think the Cardinals offense gets to him early and this turns into a laughter. Let’s take the Cardinals on the road.

St Louis is :

13-3 in their last 16 road games vs. a team with a winning home record.
5-1 in Garcia’s last 6 starts following a team loss in their previous game.
8-1 in their last 9 games vs. a starter with a WHIP greater than 1.30.

Miami is :

2-5 in Cosart’s last 7 starts with 4 days of rest.
1-4 in Cosart’s last 5 starts.

5k Tampa Bay Under 7.5 -125 (Lost 9 Runs)

I am leaning towards the Rays and the under in this one. Smyly pitched well in his latest start and should have some confidence back as he faces the Yankees, which is a team he has dominated in his career, posting a 1.71 ERA in 31.2 innings pitched. Smyly allowed just one run against New York earlier this season and got the win so I’m confident he can contain the New York offense. Eovaldi has pitched well as of late and his an ERA just under four in his career against the Rays, so I think runs will be at a premium, however I like the Rays as Smyly has handled the Yankees offense his entire career.

SUNDAY JULY 31ST RESULTS (3-4) -$4,200

Here are my results from tonight.... football preseason kicks off Sunday if your interest in some preseason football drop me a line. Last 6 years I have averaged a moderate 58% winners and this season is going to be even better my friend!!!

July 31st Top Play of The Day

7k Minnesota -124 (Easy Winner 6-4)

The Minnesota Twins blew the game in the ninth inning against the White Sox as Brandon Kintzler blew his first save in nine chances. The White Sox were fortunate to get the win and Rodon could be rusty coming off the disabled list. The Twins hit nine points better against left-handers (.254 to .245) than against right-handers. Expect a Twins’ upset win as they should have won this series.

OTHER REGULAR PLAYS:

5k New York Mets -1.5 +125 (Easy Winner 6-4)

I am taking the Mets in this matchup. Syndergaard has a stifling 2.36 ERA at Citi Field this season, and has been solid as of late, allowing only a combined six runs in his last four starts, so he should be able to contain the Rockies offense. Also Bettis is a very inconsistent pitcher who has given a 142 hits in 121.1 innings pitched, so the Mets should be able to scratch across some runs. Looks for the Mets to get the win behind a strong performance from Syndergaard.

5k Houston Over 9.5 +100 (Easy Blowout Winner 11 Runs)

Let’s look for a high scoring game here. Dallas Keuchel is not the same pitcher on the road as he is at home and this strong Tigers offense should be able to score plenty off him here. The Astros offense has struggle some of late, but they should be able to wake up in this one vs Mike Pelfrey, who has not pitched well of late and has never pitched well in this park. He has an 8.25 ERA in his last three starts overall and a 6.22 ERA in his career here at Comerica. Both offenses should have a field day in this one.

5k Miami Under 7.5 -105 (Lost 9 Runs)

I like the Marlins and the under in this one. Cashner has been very consistent, allowing three earned runs or less in all but two of his start this season, and I think he will be pumped playing for his new team. Also Cashner has completely owned the Cardinals, featuring a sparking 1.74 career ERA against them, and held them to one run both times he faced them this season, so I think it will be tough for the Cardinals to get anything going. I like the under as Martinez has a 1.89 ERA on the road this season, and as mentioned Cashner has dominated the Cardinals. I think Miami takes this one in a very low scoring ball game.

5k Toronto -1.5 +112 (Lost 2-6)

This might look like a tough game to pick, but I really like the Blue Jays here. The Orioles have been struggling lately and as good as his record is, Chris Tillman has not been dominate. Aaron Sanchez hasn’t lost in 16 starts and I’m going to go with that. Let’s take the Blue Jays at home.

5k Pittsburgh -139 (Lost)
5k Pittsburgh Over 8.5 -105 (Lost 6 Runs)

I am leaning towards the Pirates, and I also like the over. Garza has not looked good this season, posting a 5.74 ERA and allowed five runs against Pittsburgh earlier this season, so I think the Pirates will plate multiple runs against him and get the win. I like the over as Liriano has been very inconsistent this season, and has a 6.52 ERA on the road, and as mentioned Garza has struggled, however I trust the Pirates offense more than Milwaukee’s so I think the Pirates take this one in a high scoring ball game.

MONDAY RESULTS (3-3) -$4,400

Well Cleveland could not blowout out the Twins tonight..... was very wrong on that one. Here are my results for tonight.

7k Cleveland -1.5 +100 (Lost)

The Indians really have to be licking their chops at getting a four game home series vs the Twins. Yes Minnesota was playing better of late, but that was at home and now they are on the road where they have gone just 17-32 on the year. Tyler Duffey has really struggled of late as he has allowed 11 ERs in his last 3.2 innings of work and now must take on a Cleveland offense that averages 5.65 runs-per-game at home. Danny Salazar has struggled a little of late, but still he has been an excellent starter at home in his career and should have a good showing vs a weak Twins offense in this one. This is a big series for the Tribe as they look to grab full control of the AL Central and after seeing what the Twins did at home recently, they will not take them lightly. Tribe wins easily.

5k Washington -1.5 -120 (Super Easy Blowout Winner 14-1)

I am definitely taking the Nationals in this one. Strasburg has a dazzling 1.72 ERA on the road this season, and he has only allowed three home runs away from home this season, so I think it will be very tough for Arizona to do much of anything in this match up. Also Bradley has a weak 5.15 ERA at home this season and he walks way to many batters for my liking, and I think the Nationals lineup can make him pay for those walks. The Diamondbacks are terrible at home and I think Washington delivers them another home loss in this one.

TUESDAY RESULTS (3-2) 60%+$6,850

August 2nd Top Play of The Day

7k Chicago Cubs -101 (Winner 3-2)

I am siding with the Cubs in this match up. I hate to go against Fernandez but he has not been as good on the road where he has an ERA near four, while Hammel has a solid 5-1 record with a 2.50 ERA at Wrigley Field this season. Hammel has been terrific as of late, allowing only a combined six runs in his last four starts so I am very confident in him and the Cubs to get the win. The Cubs are very hard to beat at home, and I think they grind out a win over Fernandez and the Marlins in this one.

OTHER GAMES:

5k LA Angels -145 (Winner 5-4)

The A’s picked up some young arms to restock the farm system. In dealing away Hill and Reddick, they shaved a decent chunk of money off their payroll and got rid of a couple pending free agents. Oakland isn’t much to look at these days and the days of the Bash Brothers seem like an eternity ago. The Angels aren’t much better but they do boast Trout, one of the most complete players in the game. Shoemaker pitched well in his last start before fading in the seventh. The Angels get the victory in this contest and climb out of the cellar.

5k Houston -1.5 +125 (Lost)

I’m looking for the Astros to win game one of this series and I will come right back with them here in game two. R.A. Dickeys is really struggling right now and he has an 0-3 mark with a 6.54 ERA in five career starts in this park. Lance McCullers has been an excellent pitching in the park in his career with a 9-3 record and a 2.05 ERA in 19 starts and he has been pitching very well of late. The Blue Jays are the hotter team, but the Astros need this game in the worst way and they have a solid edge on the mound. Take Houston here.

5k Texas -118 (Lost)

I am siding with Texas in this one. Darvish has been solid, allowing only two earned runs in each of his last three starts, and it looks as if he’s got his strength and endurance back. I can’t trust the rookie Bundy against the solid Texas lineup, and I think they can scratch some runs across the board against him. The Orioles offense has been stagnant, and this will be the first time the Orioles have seen Darvish and I think he tosses a gem in this one.

5k Washington -1.5 +115 (Super Easy Blowout Winner 10-4)

I am taking the Nationals in this one. Arizona has been playing brutal baseball, and Ray allowed five runs in his previous start and he has an ugly 5.17 ERA at home this season, so I don’t feel comfortable siding with him. Roark has a great 2.79 ERA on the road this season, and he has yet to allow an earned run in 18.1 innings against Arizona in his career so there is no way I can go against him, as I expect him to mow down the Diamondbacks in this one.

Here are my results from yesterday, hope you all had a great day as well my friends.....

5k Chicago Cub Over 8.5 +100 (Winner 9 Runs)

Lackey has gotten things in order after a rough stretch, allowing only a combined four runs in his last two starts, and he has a 2.73 ERA at Wrigley this season, I am confident the Cubs can take this one. I like the over as Koehler allowed four runs to the Cubs earlier this season and he has a 4.55 ERA on the road so the Cubs should plate multiple runs off him. I also expect Lackey to give up some runs as he allowed seven to Miami earlier this season, while I don’t expect him to get shelled I can see him giving up some runs, however the Cubs should do enough damage off Koehler to rack up another home victory in a high scoring ball game.

5k Washington -1.5 -137 (Easy Blowout Winner 8-3)

5k Washington -2.5 +110 (Easy Blowout Winner 8-3)

This is an easy decision to go with the Nationals. Scherzer has a minuscule 1.09 ERA in his last six starts, and has allowed five hits or less in five of those six starts, so I am very confident siding with him. Godley on the other hand is a very hittable pitcher with a 5.63 ERA, so the Nationals should have no problem putting runs on the board. Arizona continues to struggle, especially at home, and I think Scherzer tosses a gem on the road in this one. I would recommend taking the Nationals on the run line to get more value.

THURSDAY RESULTS (4-4) -$7,140

Here are my results.....

7k Detroit -122 (Lost 3-6)

I am going with the Tigers in this one. I can’t go against the Tigers with how good they have been playing. The Tigers are currently on an 25-10 stretch at home, and they have now scored four runs or more in seven out of their last eight games. The Tigers lineup is hitting a combined .324 off Quintana, plus they scored five runs against them the first time they faced him this season, so I am confident they can push across some runs and notch another home victory.

5k San Francisco -125 (Winner 3-2)

Have to like the Giants here simply because they are better and because Moore has been much better of late and he’s now on a better defensive team.

San Francisco is :

Giants are 5-1 in their last 6 Thursday games.
Giants are 16-6 in their last 22 during game 3 of a series.
Giants are 36-16 in their last 52 games vs. a starter with a WHIP greater than 1.30.

Philly is :

Phillies are 9-21 in their last 30 Thursday games.
Phillies are 10-26 in their last 36 vs. a team with a winning record.
Phillies are 4-14 in their last 18 home games vs. a team with a winning road record.
Phillies are 1-4 in Velasquez’s last 5 starts vs. a team with a winning record.

5k LA Angels -138 (Lost 6-8)

While they have struggled on the road, the Angels have actually been very good lately at home, where they have won nine of 11. The As’s meanwhile struggle against righties, in game two’s, and on the road versus losing teams. All three will be in play on Thursday. I think the Angels get to Hahn and Nolasco gets a rare win.

5k Boston -137 (Winner 3-2)

5k Boston Over 8.5 +105 (Lost 5 Runs)

I am definitely going with the Red Sox and the over in this one. I can’t trust the rookie Miranda especially against the Red Sox offense, he had an ERA near four in the Minors so I think Boston will him him hard and get the win. I like the over as the Mariners leads the Majors in runs scored against lefties so I think the be able to push across some runs against Pomeranz, but I think the Red Sox will tag Miranda, allowing Pomeranz to finally get his first victory as a member of the Red Sox in a high scoring ball game.

5k Toronto -111 (Easy Blowout Winner 4-1)

Going with the Blue Jays as they are clearly playing the better ball and have the strong offensive edge, plus an edge on the mound. The Astros may be running out of gas right now and while they do need this game to stay in the hunt for a wildcard berth, they just don’t stack up enough in this one to get the win. Look for a big win by the Blue Jays in this one.

7k Chicago Cubs -1.5 -114 (Easy Winner 4-0)

I am going with Arrieta and the Cubs in this one. I think Arrieta will finally get a win here and pitch a good ball game, as he looked good in his last start, conceding just two runs in seven innings, and I think a start against a weak offensive teams such as Oakland is what Arrieta needs to get back to his winning ways. Gray has been awful, allowing seven runs in his latest start, and he has an ERA near six, and has a .299 opponent batting average at home so the Cubs should be able to put some crooked numbers on the board in this one.

I am taking the Indians in this matchup. Kluber mowed down the Yankees earlier this year and has a stifling 2.16 career ERA against New York so I am confident he can duplicate his success against the Yankees in this one. Sabathia on the other hand allowed five runs to the Indians earlier this season and he has an ugly 6.88 ERA in his last eight starts, so Cleveland should have no problem scoring runs in this one.

5k Tampa Bay -140 (Easy Blowout Winner 7-1)

In their last 116 games the Twins have taken two of three in Detroit, two of four in Boston, two of three at home vs the White Sox and three of four in Cleveland, but they also were swept in a two game home series vs the Braves. This team is clearly playing to the level of their competition and now they face a lowly Tampa squad so recent history dictates that they will struggle in this series. Jose Berrios has been hit hard in his brief time in the majors and while Chris Archer has a horrible record at home (1-8), he also has a solid 3.03 ERA in those games. The Tampa offense should be able to break out here and give him enough runs to pick up a nice win vs a Minnesota team that can’t beat losing teams right now.

5k Boston +110 (Lost 0-3)

I am siding with the Red Sox in this match up. Rodriguez is pitching his best ball of the season, and has a stifling 2.74 ERA in his last four starts, and he is pitching with a ton of confidence right now so I feel comfortable backing him. Stripling has struggled in his starter role this season, posting a 4.85 ERA, so the Red Sox should be able to do some damage against him, notching the road victory in the process.

Not one of my better nights.... here are my results.

PLAY OF THE DAY

7k Chicago -1.5 +111 (Winner 3-1)

The Cubs are white-hot at the moment and with Arrieta seemingly back in form, their rotation is deadly. Hendricks is lights out over the last couple of months and has the second best ERA in the NL. Manaea is struggling with no wins in his last six outings. The Cubs are firing on all cylinders and it’s tough to see Oakland slowing them down right now. Chicago cruises to the sweep.

5k Colorado Under 10.5 -101 (Lost)

Going to look for a low scoring game here. The Rockies have learned how to pitch at home and Jon Gray has been excellent overall of late as he has a 0.95 ERA in his last three starts. He should clearly be able to hold down a below average Miami offense in this one. The Colorado offense hasn’t been great at home and are missing Trevor Story for the rest of the Year. Adam Conley has pitched very well of late and he has a 3.92 ERA on the road. This does not have the feel of a game that will put up double digit in runs.

5k Atlanta Under 8 +100 (Lost 9 Runs)

Going to look for a low scoring game. Mike Foltynewicz has struggled of late, but he has shown that he can pitch and the St Louis offense isn’t really tearing the ball off the cover right now. Adam Wainwright has always pitched will in this park and should have a very solid showing vs an anemic Atlanta offense. Game one saw just one run scored and this one could be a similar pitcher’s duel.

All Porcello has done at home this year is going 10-0 with a 3.21 ERA. That loaded Boston offense should hammer Severino. The Yankees are an ugly 3-12 in their past 15 after an off day. Boston has won nine of the past 13 meetings.

5k Texas Over 12 -105 (Push 12 Runs)

The Rangers are pulling away in their division and they want to keep it going here. They have not been a great road team, but the Rockies are a horrible inter-league team. Tyler Chatwood has good numbers overall, but he has a 5.27 ERA at home and is 0-3 with an 11.17 ERA in three career starts vs the Rangers. Colorado is still alive for a playoff berth, but this is not really a good series for them to build on that as the Rangers offense can do big damage in this park and vs this staff. Take the Rangers here.

5k Chicago Cubs -1.5 (Easy Blowout Winner 5-1)

I am well aware of the fact that Weaver has very strong inter-league numbers and he has been dominant in his two career start vs the Cubs, but this is also a far better team than the ones he faced in 2013 & 2010. The Cubs right now are rolling again and they have been getting it done with their pitching for the most part of late and Lacky should keep this Angels offense under wraps here. Jered weaver has really struggled on the road the last two years and that should continue here vs a more than capable Chicago offense. I look for the Cubs to win this one by at least three runs.
