Simple explanation: By not cancelling the wager before the match, they proved that they were willing to take it. Their actions speak for themselves.

I do believe that with a linesman on duty, the bet never would have gotten that high. However, once they knew of the bets, WSEX researched the line, the game and the player. Maybe they thought they had caught Moby Dick (biggest whale). The point is that WSEX made a mistake by not monitoring their lines and Revere took advantage in a legitimate way. WSEX compounded their mistake by not cancelling the line right away. WSEX make a third mistake by waiting until they knew they lost to cancel the bets.<HR></BLOCKQUOTE>

No offense but how can I even take some of what you say seriously when you think any book would want to take that kind of action & keep the line where it was.

Take that same action & bet it elsewhere & the lines would move alot which would open up the other book for a scalp.

I do not know what stakes Wsex takes at soccer games.. But I agree they should have moved the line along the way.. However.. they did not, and they did accept all of his bets.. and no fraud was done.. he risked his $40K at a price he could get at many other books also..

That Wsex's software allows this, and that they do not have anyone to move the line, is really THEIR problem.. and that they wait to cancel the match for hours and hours till the results is in, makes this case very clear to me..

Wsex saw that Newcastle were winning 1-0 early in the game, and saw their chance of getting some easy money.. Man united scored their winning goal late into 2nd half, which is the answer to why they waited so long to cancel the game..

A couple took a shot at my assumption that "put the shoe on your foot and you would change your opinon". 1) Failing to contact the player not a good enough excuse. What if the contact was up-to-date, but they still couldn't reach the player. They don't need to contact the player if it is a policy isssue.

2) Yes. If they though the player made a really stupid bet and they thought they could take a shot, they would take a big bet.

3) In the past he may have wanted to bet 40 dimes on the other games, but was unable to get that much down.

4) Sure I'd be suspicious. But aren't YOU suspicious of a book that waiting until after the game was over before cancelling the wagers?

5) It is normal if there is no one to answer the phone and this is the only way to get down the amount you wanted. I programmed Casablanca's old computer system and there were some players that Dave Johnson purposely allowed to bet more than the stated site limits. They were not notified that they were suckers.
