Lets try the above post again with Group Standings included. Beginning with Monday's Group A and B games followed by the rest after I get a better idea of what size these images can be so Matches & Relevant Group Standings can be viewed at the same time without the need to scroll up and down.

Not that I will necessarily accomplish this but, you know, without Goals, Aspirations we are just space consuming blobs of hopeless flesh and bones.

The top 2 teams in each group will advance

along with the top 4 Third place finishers among all of the 6 Groups.

Kinda small. :>( I'll try to make the next ones bigger but this optimal sizing of images for viewing Matches & Standings without having to scroll deal is challenging to figure out.

Tuesday & Wednesday Matches + Group Standings will be added here later right now I gotta split. :toast:

China / New Zealand U2 -128 2*- There is no doubting China's defensive posture.

Thailand +6.5 +100 - 1*
Thailand U7.5 -115 - 1* Pretty sure Germany has the goal differential in hand here and probably wins 6-1 something like that

I also like that Norway game over 5.5 -110 1* - Maybe they will go for the goal differential and give up one and then sit back and win 5-1

Can't make my mind up On Canada, I like the under there as well but something is telling me not to play it

Was thinking Thai also, but they are so so so small and it could be 5-0 or 6-0 at half

Jesus powerz, I don't know how we get there but we generally arrive at the very same place on these things.

That could be good....could be bad lol. Whatever it is I've considered available angles of these games, am confident that I have made the best Value plays and those plays are the exact same as what you posted. Your post would be MY post just with 23,665 less words lol.

And my plays ain't from insight gained at GOONERS cuz I didn't see no writeup as of yesterday there and ain't checked for any today.

I've had to go these alone. Maybe Gooners has writeups now, I don't know. I was surpised they didn't at some point yesterday.

And that "TodayPrediction" link I posted had pretty good writeups on matchups (and 6-2 Win record, I think...didn't track it but they were good) up until this Germany Thailand match where they posted Thailand to win making me look like a total idiot for linking to them.

In my defense, for those who say (and rightly) so "Why he post this stupid link?" just at least GLANCE at some of the prior writeups on there....they had been good with making understood Time of Possession and other stuff for understanding of how teams were playing.

Got a writeup coming here shortly on these Big Fave games....a few words also but it will be worth slogging through cuz it cites some potentially interesting "angles" to these matchups.

Just wrapping that up now, might do Group A matches too but exactly like you also...Canada match is giving me difficulty.

Main roadblock there is ascertaining how future matchup looks for both Canada & NED.

If Canada wins they win the group but does that see them playing a harder foe than if they take a DRAW potentially losing the Group to China? And finishing 2nd?

Stuff to yet consider in that game...my writeup on that might be the shortest ever at 3 words: "I don't know" lol.

If anyone happens to know the future matchup scenarios for Canada, should they win, draw or even lose God Forbid for them..

I believe to lose they'd still prolly be OK at 4 points but maybe not cuz their Goal Differential now at +1 would become ZERO or MINUS so they better not lose. Is the way I see it at least. :toast:

Gotta say "good picking" though p.

Win or Lose today I think again you've come in with the card that (at least I beleive) has best Value. :toast:

Group B: Germany and Norway will beat Thailand and Ivory Coast (IVC) and advance with Germany winning the Group. Ivory Coast will not advance and Thailand with near certainly will not advance. The 4 Third place finishers will come from within the other 5 Groups, barring some very very strange stuff happening, like, completely bizarre stuff many matches deep within this and other Groups...Thailand is outta here.

Its interesting to note that Thailand's already tenuous chance at advancing as one of the four 3rd Place teams that will get through (which looked possible, albeit remotely so, at one point...due to their very poor Goal Differential -3 going INTO GERMANY) was effectively ended when Columbia upset France.

So anyone wondering what ramifications that humungous upset had on things, theres ONE thing. It pretty much officially sent the Thailand Women home, ended their participation in this World Cup tournament.

2d8m3yp.jpg

Unlikely that Thailand realized that at the time of that HUGE upset but interesting to ponder on the moment since then that Thailand became aware of that being the case. They had to be like: "Mị̀mī wiṭhī kār r̀wmpheṣ̄!!!!" or something like that.

No...it doesn't translate into "Oh Darn." lol.

Thai-court-rules-that-for-001.jpg

30169804-01.jpg

Goal Differential (GD) in Group B = Germany up by 6 Goals going into these matchups. To surpass Germany and win the Group Norway would have to beat IVC by 6 goals + one more goal than however many Goals Germany beats Thailand by.

Linesmakers have set that line at 6.5 so, assuming that to be a sharp line, basically Norway would have to beat IVC by 14 Goals.

Norway will not KNOW how many goals Germany won by going into their match as both matches are at the same time despite the fact FIFA Schedule (as can be seen in Group B Matches graphic in a post above this) says Norway/IVC begins directly after GER/THAI. Fox Sports who is broadcasting the games and the books taking bets on them both have these matches happening at the same time so I will trust them over FIFA. (FIFA apparently makes "error". Who'd have thunk such a thing? lol.)

Pause for a moment to let GD + matches at same time sink in.

Matches at the same time is key. If Norway makes a part of their gameplan doing all within their power to make a run at winning the group they play to score as much as they can.

If they come in conceding the Group Win to Germany due to, it'd be reasonable to call it, impossible GD to overcome and relax in the match mainly or all together playing backups including Sørpebøl Susegg Håndlykken-Rønningen (nickname: "Egg going fast on The Breeze" or "Wind Egg"

Karolina.JPG

...hard to translate from Dutch to English cuz they have weird letters with dots, lines and other embellishments)

which hopefully they do sub in Susegg cuz she'd be the youngest player ever in a World Cup (by FAR at just 2 years and 110 days old) but hopefully they won't cuz it'd be bad for our OV play as she is only 1 foot 2 inches tall and her recorded time running the length of the pitch is...well, she's never made it all the way cuz she gets distracted by shiny objects or lays down to take a nap then gets up demanding to eat and refuses to run any more.

Susegg Håndlykken-Rønningen is a 17th strring backup though, unlikely to see any time (if she is even awake for it) so should not be, doesn't need to be factored into capping this game.

"What will be Norway's gameplan?" does need to be thought about though. This is among the difficulties we encounter where choosing a side to back Against The Spread (ATS) and/or Over/Under (Total OV/UN). Obstacles we face here are unusual and hard to predict, to say the least, with this matchups and the Big Line on the German game.

Versus the teams they are playing here Germany & Norway are as close to "Already Advanced" as Japan & Brazil are, the only 2 teams in this tourney who have locked up advancement. The hard question is: "When does Germany & Norway begin resting players and how well/seriously do those subs play?" Having secured advancement and not wanting to risk injury of thier best players both NOR & GER need to not risk disaster by having their best players on the pitch for nothing.

Then we have the unknown quantity of "What will be the Coaches' gameplan of substitution players? Burn Clock, play keep away or let them try to impress, show off thier skill for Coach and The World by making many many goals?
You'd have to think the latter, with some players at least...like a "test" on the biggest stage of Women's Soccer for Coaches to see what they have but of course Coach does not want to risk injury to backups either as many hard matches lie ahead and depth of squad may prove to be what dictates eventual winning squad.

There are also the questions of "How hard will the eliminated teams try?" and if they try "How much can they even STOP these 2 much better teams from scoring at will?"

So these 2 matchups present less than ususal decisions for Coaches to make and they present difficult and unusual challenges for Bettors because the variables here are not things that can be forecasted by past stats, matchups, recent performances or really anything remotely resembling logic or sound handicapping strategy.
To bet into these games is risky as, unavoidably, a wager here si based so much more off of "guessing" what will most likely be Coache's/Team's strategy than anything else we are accustomed to.

By far.

the-legend-of-jimmy-the-greek.jpg

One thing that occurs to me that has at least a CHANCE at applying to locating value on plays in these matchups is TWO things really...

Each Bettor will have to decide for themselves how much they think these things might be relevant, maybe contribute to forming a good value play...

Firstly If you look at the picks of sharp NFL bettors you don't see them messing with that "FAVE -12" (or any double-digit (dd) line) or, on the rare occasion they do, they're almost always on DOG + all those free points.
Which to those Bettors who are more Square Shaped than Sharps has us say "wtf thats crazy no effin way" when they see the Sharp on "Jaguars + 12", for example.

The Square knows that Jaguars suck, the Sharp knows that dd lines over NFL history = DOG+ cashing as much as 74% of the time with filters (Home/Away, DIV matchup or not, FAVE off win blah blah blah) applied, % might be even higher. I've seen it suggested that dd Dogs cash near 72% (close to 3 out of 4) without filters. But I don't know how true that is. Someone around RX does...you can Bank ion that.

This ain't the NFL though, I realize, so success on the Big Dog may translate as well as Mandarin into Ancient Hebrew with this, today is an opportunity to see.

The 2nd thing that might give us a thing to consider here is The timing of Switzerland's merciless beating of Ecuador by a score of 10-1 (8-1 in 2nd Half with Fabienne Humm scoring the fastest hat-trick in Women's World Cup history) might factor into Germany/Thailand & Norway/Ivory Coast outcomes and particuarly the BIG line of Germany -6.5 (Norway line is -4.5).

This is a very important tournament for FIFA in that its the first Women's World Cup thats got this much attention. Vegas has set lines from the start of it for the first time. In 2011 they jumped on somewhere around the end of the Group Stages due to demand from Bettors in Vegas to bet Women's World Cup.

Merciless thrashings of lesser teams that leaves girls crying on the pitch and many feeling sorry for girls, leaves some with a "bad feeling" about Women's Soccer, thinking "Wow this is not very much fun seeing those poor girls get humiliated", one might think can only be bad for FIFA where cultivating viewership of Womens Soccer is concerned.
To get at how you personally feel on the matter of lesser teams taking humiliating losses, whether that evokes any empathy within you or you feel instead that teams should play to score as much as they can watch this, the Swiss pulverizing Ecuador with your Mind Blank and see how it makes you feel:

On the other hand: The biggest reason cited, in a poll of Americans as to why they don't watch Soccer, was "not enough scoring". Americans wanna see goals.

I certainly don't wanna imply the possibiltiy of corruption on FIFA's part , rather The Main Thing I wanted to get across is that the thrashing of Ecuador by The Swiss happening so soon before todays matchups, which both the lines and skill level of teams involved suggests could also wind up in thrashings is, at the very least, interesting as its presented FIFA Marketing Machine with the valid question: "Might ass-whoopings be a negative desirous of being avoided...for inspiring viewership, ticket sales, growth of the sport?"

Or does FIFA just let it go where it will, Goals good for the game, let it be?

I've arrived at the same place as powerz here

Thailand +6.5 +100 - 1*
Thailand U7.5 -115 - 1*
Norway over 5.5 -110 1* -

just the above being the verious obstacles along the path of how I got there.

peaceout. I may do Group A if so it won't be anywhere near as long as this. These Matchups/Circumstances are quite unique. Two poor teams in a Group, eliminated, HUGE point spreads.....make your own plays based on what you think potentially relevant or not. :toast:

Should clarify that I am at just 1/2 a unit on Thailand+ and the UN there cuz of the size/strength difference of even backups on this German squad vs. Thai Womens team.

Plus the SWZ/ECK vid got hosed above

As Gilda said "Its always SOMETHING".

This Norway Team is hilarious here. Missing shots like Female Keystone Cops or De'Andre Jordan at the freethrow line lol.

Impossible to imagine the Norwegian find a way to NOT come out fired up 2nd Half and get us this over.

We should have at least 3 Goals by now.

but we only have one.

Germany is vastly overrated. Joke of a performance so far. I'm done with soccer till NFL. Been getting killed and no breaks ever the past few months.

I knew Thai was too fast for Germany, but I fell for the trap and took Germ -6.5. Easy winner for those who took the under and Thai...congrats

Group A

For me China v. New Zealand is fairly simple. I know....I need to Scale Back when one is this easy but I never seem to learn.

Yet another thing that separates a Square from a Sharp.

In 2 matches thus far here in this World Cup China and New Zealand have combined to produce One Goal (1).

Together they have allowed Two Goals (2).

Only "Wild Cards" I found is what NZ Coach said: "We know this China team very well, we have played them more often than any other team" and how aggressive China was last out vs Netherlands.

China created opportunities. They could have, arguably, put up 3 or at least 2 Goals in that match.

We've already established within this thread that NZ has, historically, had big problems scoring Goals. NZ Goalie played quite well last match, China certainly have shown a very capable defense allowing just ONE Goal in 2 matches thus far (vs. Canada & The Dutch) which is very impressive.

China vs. New Zealand UN 2, 2 1/2

Oh jeez.

I don't know whats wrong with me.

You know what to do.

The OVER is now a 99.99999999% LOCK $*)

...WAIT!!! I may have just made up for it there lol!!!

I like the Under but am just plain scared here. I feel like UN props are just WAYtoo expensive and risky in this particular spot. (UN 2 -123, UN 2,2.5 -171 UN 2.5 -211 LMFAO).

Since I ain't gonna have any worthwile insight on this match Heres what Gooner's Guide has to say about it:

cheers_gooner.jpg
There are two ways that you can look at this World Cup from the hosts' perspective going into the final games of the Group Stage- the positives for Canada Women are the two clean sheets they have kept, but the negatives has to be the one single goal scored and even that was through a controversial penalty.

John Herdman has stated he feels Canada could be a real threat at this World Cup if they can start scoring goals, but they should be good enough to progress to the Second Round.

The lack of goals has to be a concern for Canada, but they moved to four points in the Group after the goalless draw with New Zealand followed the narrow win over China. Now they face a Netherlands Women team that has shown two sides of themselves in this tournament so far.

After beating New Zealand with some impressive play, the Netherlands looked really poor against China and were deservedly beaten with a last minute goal. It leaves the Dutch in a very awkward position in the standings as they are 3rd in this Group, but they might also have one eye on what is happening in the other game in the section as a New Zealand win coupled with a Canada win would knock Netherlands out of a World Cup when some tipped them as a dark horse.

If New Zealand don't beat China, the Netherlands win over New Zealand should be enough to see them through to the Second Round barring a big defeat in this game. A big defeat looks unlikely with the way the hosts have struggled to find consistent attacking play and this could be another tight game which has been a feature of Group A as none of the games have produced more than a single goal.

It is going to be tough for the Netherlands to earn something out of this game which could confirm their place in the Second Round and they are likely to be looking at results from the other Groups. Finishing in one of the best third place finishers is not out of the question as long as New Zealand don't beat China, but actually getting something out of Canada will mean reversing history against them.

Canada have won 8 of their 10 previous matches against Netherlands and never lost to them so the hosts have to feel confident in their chances. They have met in the Cyprus Cup in 2012 and 2013 and both times Canada won 1-0 which looks a real player in this game too.

Prediction

Group A has been tight throughout and both Canada Women and Netherlands Women will be desperate for the three points that will give them a place in the Second Round. The pressure might be off for the hosts as they are almost certainly through already, but they want a morale boosting win after a couple of erratic performances.

Recent games against the Dutch has seen Canada just about earn the advantage and backing them to win by a single goal margin looks the call. The last couple of times they have met have both ended 1-0 to Canada and that feels the most likely result rather than 2-1 or 3-2 and I will back that to be the final score.

The Pick

FIXED ODDS BETTING
Canada Women to Win 1-0 @ 5.00 (Ladbrokes)

after all that lol, to very probably my own peril and to remove all doubt as to whether I am a dumbass or not 1/2 Unit play on Canada vs. Netherlands DRAW +242

Group A
:
China vs. New Zealand UN 2, 2 1/2 (2*)
Canada vs. Netherlands DRAW (1/2*)

damn powerz how'd you jump in right THERE when I needed my Beasties Intergalactic Vid DIRECTLY BELOW Women's Volleyball reference??!!???

What are the chances??!!??

Just my Luck.

We knew the total was a total craps shoot powerz.

Needless to say: (and at the risk of getting yelled at by some here) "We should have cashed it".

Oh Well.

Norweigan Girls Hate Us. They obviously, as a group, played to the Under cuz they hate us.

This troubles me.

I have no idea even what we did to deserve this. Prolly something you did powerz.

I've always been very nice to Norwegian Girls.

Beer & Pizza $$$ here as well on that DRAW. Feel your wise very very wise to cover that on the other game as well.

Glad to have you aboard here p. :toast:

China game too. 1-1. :ohno:

Nice looking Goal by NZ, very nice, great shot by NZ Girl + China Girl standing right in front of the Goalie, totally blocked her Vision.

China Goalie was immediately visibly pissed lol.

2nd Goal (China) from yet another bad call, not AWFUL CALL this time cuz it was hard to tell Handball or not but just absurd FIFA don't use Instant Replay. Would have been easily overturned Handball call.

Keep the Faith powerz, whatever comes to pass I think we made the best value plays and, in this Emerging Market of Women's WC, line movement from what I can ascertain suggests so as well.

Renochazz would know, not sure where he is today lol.

Playing for the PUSH in China which if we can (mercifully) get it would also cash our Draw. All Hope is not yet lost powerz.
