well it's useless to talk about it now but you are both wrong saying that it was the right move to not sub out for Wambach up 1-0. It was game 1 and they were leading an inferior team 1-0. He could clearly see the injury was not the 'ol "squirt a bottle of water on the head" and left his team playing a man short for more than 10'. Wambach is not your typical striker but lends a ton of defensive support so is not like having Van Nistelrooy on the sidelines for 10'.
anyway, the reason he did this was the team IS far too reliant on one player to score but they did not need another goal. Clearly they can defend, and any lead for the US is usually game over...that was my point
