Post-game interview w/ Ryan...come on, gotta take responsibility for your own gaffe. Had to laugh when they cutaway back to the commentators and Heather Mitts is rolling her eyes...one of his own players out due to injury and commentating for ESPN. I think that says a lot about what his players are prob. thinking in private. :nopityA:

horrendous stuff from Hope Solo ... came out and said that she would have made the saves that Scurry did not and "it's not 2004 anymore". nice team attitude

no way I'll bet on USA now as this team is falling apart

Solo prob. should've just given the usual - "no comment."

Ryan put himself in a real bind. Who does he start now in goal v. Norway?

I'm glad the US lost. I didn't see the match but if the red card was a bad call then that makes up for when the US got a really bad call in their favor in 1999 to beat China in the penalty shoot out. Brianna Scurry came off her line way too early and saved a penalty kick. The referee should have ordered the kick to be retaken. It was a horrible decision and it helped cost China the World Cup.

This US coach is an idiot and he clearly showed that in the first match when he had the US play with ten players for part of the match and North Korea scored two goals to take a 2-1 lead. I hope Norway hammers the US in the third place match.

he cannot start Solo after these comments. She's obviously not a team player, no matter how frustrated she was, and might as well give Scurry a start in what will be her last intl game.

not sure if I ever heard such ignorant comments from a teammate even with all the QB controversies in the NFL. Not to mention she wouldn't have made all the saves :)

Listen, I hate this coach as much as the next guy -- but you need to watch the games before thinking that was some sort of "strategy". Wambach got slammed in the head and had to go get medical treatment outside of the rain. So NK scores 2 goals -- you don't sub your teams ONLY offensive threat in a 1-0 game. Then when it's tied 1-1, you don't bail on your ONLY offensive threat. Then again, when you are down 2-1, you don't sub-out your ONLY offensive threat. That move was fine because no move was made.

The goalie switch was a joke for the game this morning.

Hope has never lost a game for the US. I don't blame her for being young and confident. What she said was strong, but fine with me.

Tough to sub for your best player. N Korea match was alright as far as Ryan's decision making. This game v. Bra-nil was just horrific.

well it's useless to talk about it now but you are both wrong saying that it was the right move to not sub out for Wambach up 1-0. It was game 1 and they were leading an inferior team 1-0. He could clearly see the injury was not the 'ol "squirt a bottle of water on the head" and left his team playing a man short for more than 10'. Wambach is not your typical striker but lends a ton of defensive support so is not like having Van Nistelrooy on the sidelines for 10'.

anyway, the reason he did this was the team IS far too reliant on one player to score but they did not need another goal. Clearly they can defend, and any lead for the US is usually game over...that was my point
