jasin, I think it was to make it look like he had to escape. like a houdini act. but there was absolutely no drama to it. the real excitement was in the holding his breath and it only take away from that.

it looked like he had a key ..

i would rather see him do his street tricks . in fact i would to see it up close.

the shoe tying trick was easy . he had 2 long laces hung thru his pants . his pants covered up the real laces that were already tied .

he kept shaking his leg around and raised up the extra laces thru the inside of his pants. eventually the real laces came out from under the bottom of his pants...

too easy...

Sorry, I find this rather humorous. Try to drown yourself again you goof.

You may be right about the second attempt. Being the whores that they are, why wouldn't they?

Well the world record is 9 minutes so somebody has done it. You could see him start to make facial expressions of pain after like 5 minutes. Then around the 6 minute mark you could really see the pain and he started letting air out. Some divers had to jump in and unlock his leg chains as you could see him start to panic. The one diver jumped in and covered his mouth and nose so that he didnt suck in a bunch of water. He ended up going 7 minutes. Still amazing

There was a program on TV about the military training for the Navy or Marines maybe BUD/s training or something. They trained to hold your breath for long periods of time under water under extreme conditions. Can't remember how long it was for, but you would think holding the breath under water for any period of time such as 5 minutes or more, nevermind 7 to 9 would cause some kind of brain damage by cutting off oxygen to the brain.

Kind of surprised TV would have people sitting through 2 hours or whatever it was to see the guy fail at his attempt, but no way would they televise across the nation to a live audience a guy drowning himself.

his mistake was the 7 days in the tank before hand

then having to expend the extra energy holding the chains

they cudnt anticipate what stress that would create on his body

i got no interest in training myself to hold my breath for 9 minutes

not a skill i need to practice

You guys!! Every one of you that have posted in this thread are smart and I'm scratching my head at your posts here! He could do what he is going to do for 45 minutes if he wanted to. HE IS NOT GOING TO go without breathing for eight or nine minutes. He will have a way (don't doubt it) to breathe while under the water.

He is not able to hold his breath for eight minutes. You guys are so cynical in all things political, religious and here you are going "Wow....Neato...." Actually, I'm glad something still can bring the child-like wonder out in us! So, there is that positive to this.

He won't appear in any record books because this is a trick. Do I know how he will do it? No. Do I believe it will look JUST like he is accomplishing the feat? Yes. But it is just great illusory stuntsmanship!

I'll tell you something else: He will do something or there will be some emergency "looking" situation that looks like it went wrong and he might even be rushed off....and the viewers will be startled in some way... That is the way the 'show' works.

He is an illusionist, folks!! Enjoy. tulsa

Well, hell! LOL! So, did anything interesting happen? Was there some emergency, like I predicted...though my prediction was after the fact? This reminds me of Schrodinger's cat!!!

My level of interest in the stunt shows, I guess. I had no idea it was last night. LOL! Oh well.... tulsa
