Without the economic shutdown there would have been many more deaths. Why? Because many hospitals would have been overwhelmed & they wouldn't have been able to handle all the non COVID-19 emergency cases in addition to all the COVID-19 emergency cases. Then doctors, as in Italy, would have had to choose between who lives & who dies. Many thousands more would have died.
Without the shutdown many more would have become sick at the same time. That would have led to many businesses shutting down anyway. And many of their customers would have stayed at home, anyway, leading to even more business closures.
As things are going, there is much "herd immunity" already being built up. As many economies are now beginning to gradually open, or about to do so within the next few weeks, the "herd immunity" will slowly & properly be built up even more, so that hospitals & such are not overwhelmed.
Every scientific model has shown this.
Or you could just use common sense. You hoaxers love to claim Coronavirus is just like the flu even though it's far more contagious... so if 1 Billion were to catch COVID-19 just like they do the flu, then there would be 69 Million deaths (6.9% death rate).
