Yep. And though many Eastern Europeans in the late 1980s may have had some version of indoor plumbing, their collective muscle in terms of weapons and arms was pretty much limited to handguns, rifles and various farm tools and implements loaded into the back of a 1960s Ford F150
Yet, they made it so difficult and expensive for the Soviets to maintain control that of course the USSR not only surrendered that control, they were forced into full retreat and a reorganization of their government that would take almost two decades.

The U.S. goes around making enemies in the world to distract the Americans from the fact that Osama still hasn't been caught even though they vowed to catch him and make him pay. Hey, let's go attach Iraq and distract the people from our failed attempts to catch Osama..plus there's oil! In the West's mind, the middle east is evil. In the middle east,(and elsewhere I'm sure) the U.S is considered evil. It all depends on who you are. America by no stretch of the imagination is a do gooder. May be the lesser of evils compared to certain countries, but by no means a do good country.
