Let us keep in mind that the USA is the only country to ever have used nucleur weapons on another country, back when they murdered hundreds of thousands of innocent civilians in Japan back in 1945.

OMG

who started the war that resulted in tens of millions of deaths worldwide again?

and why? because of "REAL" imperialistic tendencies?

ever wonder why we can't take some lefties too seriously? this is one reason why

BTW: did it end a war? have we used it since?

I agree that countries should not be illegally invaded and occupied based on lies from corrupt leaders.

who are we occupying again? we'll be leaving two democracies where people have more hope and optimism then they ever had. Although they have suffered through the war, they were suffering without hope before the war.

Ever wonder why the world hates America? This is why.

I am absolutely confident that literally 99% of the Earth's population neither hate nor love America. They're far too busy living their own lives in their own countries.

Not counting the tens of thousands who were killed either by the US military bombing or by the influx of foreign fighters who've been rolling into the country steadily since Hussein was removed. They didn't have to suffer through the war. They're dead.

Willie no one was laughing. We were cringing at the thought of an inept administration saber rattling while faulting Obama for saying that he would try to sit down and negotiate with Iran.

well, you for one didn't believe them

I know there were a few threads on the subject, not many people besides myself (and a few others) sided with the Administration over the NIE.

The threads didn't show up on the search of "NIE Iran" which only allows 70 results. I don't have the desire to search manually at this point, but I will after Wednesday if I must.

I wouldn't call that laughing and you must admit Cheney's track record with middle eastern espionage is poor at best.

Citing some government report that proved Iran was no where near having nuclear bomb capabilities, and stupid enough to believe they stopped trying?

Time has a funny way of doing it's thing

Looks like Bush knew what he was talking about, and the laughing crowd didn't. Think the enablers will print any corrections?

Our enemies beat you like a drum.

Exactly right Willie, GW nailed this one right after 911 when he included IRAN in the axis of evil.

What was the group or who were the officials who said Iran was nowhere near success?

Why aren't they being held to account?

Why aren't they being vilified, scorned and threatened with prosecution as those who claimed Saddam had WMD's?

Also, I remember well how America hated the thought of having to invade the home islands, which would have caused the deaths of an unbelievably enormous number of people, both American and Japanese. The death toll would have been many, many times greater than those lives that were lost to the Bomb.

They would have repeated the horror of Iwo Jima on every beach, in every cave, in every neighborhood, in every city and every building.

Many terrorist sponsoring governments have nukes, including our own. Don't even try to deny that our government finances and works with terrorist groups to its own ends.
Not the debate being waged here

However, not ashamed to say I'm not comfortable with terrorist sponsoring regimes obtaining too much power. Maybe others are OK with governments that finance organizations that exist to destroy another nation, the only productive nation in the region I might add, but I'm not.

as too are the 100's of thousands that were killed and tortured at the hands of saddam and his family. maybe iraq would be better off if that continued? ^<<^

The Iraqi people were collectively consenting to whatever level of violence was being waged upon them by Hussein.

Much like the citizens of the Eastern European block, they had within them the option to overthrow their (perceived) oppressor any time they collectively desired.

All in all, many of us find it a curious tactic to state, "My neighbors on the other side of town live in dreadful conditions. So what I'm going to do is take a crew of soldiers over there, kill thousands of them randomly and that will be the first step in making their side of town a better place to live."

In your quest to be to reach 25k in posts, this one is absolute vomit. To actually believe that a group of people how haven’t mastered indoor plumbing could ban together, shovels in hand and overthrow a dictatorship such as Hussein’s is laughable. To say that they collectively consented to the violence is pure absurdity. Considering what happened to Kurds I’m not surprised that the rest of the population cowered. Natures most basic instinct is survival and those who survived will now live a considerably better life thanks to Bush, the US military and as much as I hate to say it BO. Whatever point you were trying to make, you screwed to pooch big time. :>(

You are living in a fantasy world if you think this has a remote chance of happening.

Iraq will be Bush's disaster, and the way things are headed Afghanistan will be Obama's.

This isn't like rebuilding Japan and Germany. We are dealing with people who are about 1000 years behind the rest of the world and are torn by tribal and religious differences.

You think there might be a reason that President Karzai is known as The Mayor of Kabul?
