Celtics are, even this season, completely lost on defense when KG has been out. But, I'd have been pretty pleased to have either of these guys in their prime.

As an aside, I can't believe that nobody has sung the praises of Antoine Walker, third best PF the Celtics have had...

What? no he isn't, lol.

Gotta go McHale-KG-Heinsohn (Obviously McHale over KG since KG only had 1 prime year with the C's really)

Garnett was technically a small forward for much of his Timberwolves career. For what it's worth, I'd rank Duncan/Malone as the top 2 PF in that order.

Um no he wasn't.

Most casual fans will rank Malone over Garnett cause Malone played forever so he putup big #s. Malone better than Garnett is laughable to me though. Malone better than Barkley is laughable to me as well...

You must really value career #s and really not value defense much.

Duncan is way better and it's not even close. Duncan is in the same category as Larry Bird, Magic Johnson, Kobe Bryant, Michael Jordan ETC. He's just not flashy like them but in some cases he's more efficient. It should also be noted that Duncan personally hates Kevin Garnett and Duncan flat out dominates him head to head. Just go look at the win loss record when Duncan plays against KG and look at their stat lines. Duncan sticks it to that big mouth every time lol

Duncan pretty much never owned him head to head. Their head to head numbers are very competitive.

If you are talking his teams always winning then sure, because they were way better. Garnett played one year of his prime on a team with another all-star caliber player and it was his first year with the Celts and he won the title.

The Timberwolves were the #1 seed during the 2003-2004 season and made it to the Western Conference Finals. That team included Sprewell and Sam Cassell. Sprewell was a 4x All Star and Cassell also went to an All Star game. In addition, Wally Szczerbiak was also on that team and he made an All Star game as well.

lol that was Spree's what 2nd to last year? He wasn't in his prime.

Cassell actually got hurt in the playoffs, he barely played any in the conference finals. If he didn't get hurt in the playoffs, maybe they would've went further.

Just pointing out that your comment was false. Garnett did in fact play with players that had made an All Star team during their career other than in Boston.

How was it false? I didn't say he never played with anyone who made an all-star game his whole career. I said he didn't play with any all-star caliber players in his career before Boston. If Sprewell was past his prime, how is the fact he made all-star teams before that relevant?

If you think Wally Sczerbiak is an all-star caliber player, we'll have to agree to disagree. Just because he made an all-star game on the Twolves doesn't mean I think he was. Maybe you do, we can agree to disagree.

I think it's pretty clear that a guy that makes an All Star game is in fact an All Star Caliber player but maybe I'm an idiot for thinking that.

Yeah, you are. If you make 1 all-star game in 6 years as Kevin Garnett's teammate, you aren't an "all-star caliber player" That would be a very liberal use of the term.
