Duncan and it's not close. Garnett has been the better 'athlete', while Duncan is the better basketball player. KG's raw athletic ability, ball handling skills, stardom at a young age, etc. rightfully wowed a lot of people, but I would have never wanted him taking a shot at the end of a big game. In my view, Duncan is one of the most underrated athletes of his generation.

yeah but that is because KG spent a lot of his career being the only star on his team, and Duncan was always surrounded by the perfect fit (allstars at that).
So if you were bumping and taking peoples best shots as you went to the whole each and every night for 7 years in Minnesota, I think your career wouldnt last as long as Duncan's who hits the bank shot and avoids the contact most of the time.

To say Duncan is better than KG, thats fine but Malone? child please....

Its known that in NBA circles Malone is considered 1 of the more overrated players ever...Him and stockton 2 of the top 20 ever yet they couldn't even win a ring when MJ was playing baseball? Yeah ok....

I will grant you that KG did not have much talent around him the first few seasons he was in Minnesota with stiffs like Rider and Laettner. After that, they had plenty of good complimentary players (Gugliotta, Marbury (albeit young), Terrell Brandon, Billups, Wally Z, Joe Smith, etc., etc.). The bottom line is that these teams only went past the first round once (I believe). They should have been better than that, and KG did not elevate them. As a matter of fact, he was known for fading late in games because he was 'tired'.

Brandon got hurt, Billups wasn't really Billups when he was there. Joe Smith? You kidding me?

Wally was OK, as like a 4th option type guy. He was their 2nd best player. Look at the 1 year they got Spree and Sam, went Conf finals and if Sam doesn't get hurt they maybe win the title that year.

Hey, they gave up like four first rounders for Joe Smith didn't they :) Mostly because KG wanted him. He wasn't always known as the best teammate for the most part.

Honestly, looking back at this - comparing the two of them is like comparing a piece of aluminum to gold - Duncan is the greatest PF offensively of all time, defensively of all time (he's like having another Center) and team wise off all time - plus he's clutch which KG has no clue the meaning off - when an historian of the game does his all time team two positions are never in question - SG and PF and at least Kobe is somewhat close to Jordan while the next best PF is Malone and he's no where close to Duncan - McHale, Barkely, Malone and Dirk all much better than Garnett

With you on this one.

I still would have loved to see KG could have done in with SA if they switched places. I think with POP as his coach you would been very surprised how well he would have done.

So now Charles is the final authority on talent? Please. He never played against KG that much. Have you ever seen McHale in person? I have for 30 yrs from HS, U of M & the Celts. Was NO WHERE close to the athlete Garnet is, in any respect. Having Bird & Chief on the front line was a gift. KG NEVER had a stud up front to help. He came here as a 19 yr old "kid" and conducted himself like a Pro, NEVER any off court BS. McHale had one move, KG could do it all.

McHale had one move?

That statement alone proves that you have absolutely no clue what you are
talking about.

He was known for having so many low post moves that his opponents were
always off-balance.

Puhhhlease.

It seems that members of the media faced with the task of defending Kevin McHale during their careers remember his indefensible array of moves best. Blessed with a freakish wingspan, McHale possessed five distinct moves in the low post. McHale often found humor in naming his moves and Tommy Heinsohn, the Celtics’ and CBS broadcaster during the ’80s, made them famous.

I do too! Just don't think I'd take him over KG. To each his own. I saw BOTH play many times & for his size never saw anyone w/the athleticism of KG!!

Everything you post is wrong.

I saw McHale play plenty of times in the Boston Garden (since I grew up in New England).

Why don't you just admit you were wrong, and stop looking like a complete fool.

Another clue for the dip shit: Athleticism doesn't necessarily make one a better player. Look at Larry Bird.

in the late stage of their game, Duncan is out preforming KG

I'm looking at their numbers and am baffled by your statement.

I watch KG nightly though and see what a good season he is having. I don't see Duncan play much at all.
