Your stuff is great - and I have been wrong before - but how can you not like the fins - at least a little bit?

Here's what I'm thinking - feel free to laugh out loud if it's ridiculous - and I don't mean to infringe upon your page...

The Jets lost 12 games last season, but 7 were by a touchdown or less. They lost absolutely nobody important (maybe Chad's leadership, one could argue - but not very man people would argue that - right). They added a solid quarterback that can stretch the field. I'm not ready to give Favre an MVP or even call him a Top 8 quarterback in the league at this point in his career - but you can't argue, he is a solid leader with a great arm that can really open up a field. But he's not the kicker. The Jets solid young offensive line corps is a year older. That's a huge help. They also won't have defenses forgetting about the deep pass - that should help them. Oh, and they picked up this guy named Alan Faneca, one of the best guards in the NFL. You have to admit, when All-Pro offensive linemen replace career back-ups, the entire offensive unit gets that much better. The Jets will still struggle defensively, but I'm not sure if that's going to be a huge problem against the fins.

Anyway, this is what I think about Miami: They lost 15 games last year and didn't only fail to get much better in the off-season - they got worse. I like Pennington more than anything they had last season at the position - but it's not like he's Brett Favre or even a Top 20 signal caller. They lost their best tackler (Thomas) and their best player (Taylor). Jerry Porter has been a bust and he's hurt going into this game. Ronnie Brown is a very good back, but everyone knows he's not 100% and won't even start. I'm all for Ricky coming back and playing well at his age, but is that a guy you want to put your money on to carry the team? The Dolphins have some nice young players, but their secondary is really shaky and their run defense isn't much better.

That's why I think the Jets are a nice bet, but I do understand their are a lot of people seeing value in that bet, and I may be missing something - but even on the road I like the Jets to win by 7-10 points.

Don't underestimate the changing of the guard.... (corny joke i know) :ohno:

If I had to bet this game I am saying it would be on the Dolphins. Parcells has worked miracles before. I see the Dolphins finishing around 5/6 wins and Jets finishing 7/8. I don't think the Jets are going to be that great because most of this propaganda is due to Favre. They still have tremendous holes in their team. I don't like their running game. Jones and Washington are average backs at best and I like Washington more then Jones but Washington is not ready to be an everydown back. I also don't like their DB's. I think they are a year or two away from being real solid corners. They will make plays but they will get beat a lot as well. I just feel like this game is going to be close and the divisional dog at home is never a bad bet.

Not sure how will Jets will adapt to the offense. Not sure Mangini will go out and let him chuck it like they did in Green Bay. I'm not sold on the Jets yet.

Yeah, I'm not sold on the Jets either - and I definitely don't think the old Favre addition makes them a Super Bowl contender - I just think it helps them beat the Fins by 10.... I agree, the Jets have holes - in fact, they have quite a few - but I just don't think Miami has the talent to take advantage of those. We shall see though, and best of luck with your season.

You are beginning to change my mind about the Steelers - but I still think Pittsburgh got worse during the off-season. I'm holding on to that one, but goodness, those home and away scores give me a little scare...

I think the Steelers are primed for show time. They got healthier in the off-season. There only true hole is at the offensive line but I think if they can play as a cohesive unit this team will surprise a ton of people. They have a VERY tough schedule. 8-8 might win this division.

Thanks man, yeah - those are a lot of fun to write. I think I might end up doing them for my site, but it's still up for grabs, I might do them in here. I have a lot of fun writing those, they just take a lot out of me - haha - it's tough to live it twice... I'll be around though, you'll be able to read them one way or another...

I hope you're right about the Steelers - there will always be a little place in my heart for the Steel-show. I'm just not as sold this season- they need to show me a little something first. I'll be rooting for them, and you, as it turns out.

Ugh - i was so satisfied with my Texans pick before I wandered on to this site to see if anyone could influence me - looking at those home and away stats is burning holes in my eyes... And I do like the Steeler's passing attack - i don't think the Texans corners can do all that much to stop them if Big Ben gets time... But will he? I wish I didn't see those stats- or I'm glad I did - I can't decide. Ha.

Thanks man - yeah, I do all the writing there right now, but if I do decide to look for a little help I'll surely keep you in mind. I definitely enjoy your perspective and you definitely know the game... Thanks again. I wish I had the 137-94 record you compiled last season - maybe this year.

Iight man you know where to find me lol. Yea last year was a blast. NFL is my best sport because I obsess over the NFL all year playing Madden lol. Believe it or not that is the key to success. Last year was really crazy how in the zone I was. Hopefully we see a repeat and GL this year.:103631605

I haven't played Madden in quite sometime (until recently), but I just picked up the new game and I'll make sure to take it into consideration - I already see that Chris Johnson is the fastest guy in the game - his feet move faster than everyone elses. Ha. Calvin Johnson is also a beast in that game. Maybe I'll take the Titans and Lions in Week 1... Haha... Okay, I have to finish my weekly picks - so I'm out of here for the night. Good luck man - in your Madden and your bets.

They have now taken down the Patriots line at my site. This worries me. I am still very confident Brady will play but if he won't my Patriots bet may be fucked.

Can't believe this New England line is off. Is Brady really going to be out? Every report I have read is saying he is ready to play.

Anyone got any information?

A couple words about da 'Boys & da Browns

Browns under Crennel are 5-7 as a home dog.

'Boys under Phillips are 3-3 as an away favorite.

There's been some talk in Dallas this week about da 'Boys improved defense. Coach Phillips knows the road to the next level is paved with D.

Gonna sit this one out on my lard-*ss.

Those two trends mean NOTHING to me. This game can go either way but I just see a close game here.

Interesting stat...

-No Super Bowl champion has lost their opener since the 1999 season when the Broncos lost their opener to the Dolphins.

whispers...just to tighten it up....

sb champions who won the bowl and scored 20pts or less in the win are 7-0 ats in the following season opener in superbowl history.

all the nyg injuries coupled with the "more than a fieldgoal" worth of points they're giving up to a divisional rival, smells like a definate misdirection play to me..

i think your right with the g-men.

good luck!:103631605

Seahawks @ Bills

The Bills are coming off a solid year where they finished 7-9 and showed that they do have some potential going into the future. Trent Edwards showed me a lot last year in the games he started. He showed the capability to keep his team in position to win games which is all he is supposed to do. He doesn't have the big arm or anything but he is a "game manager". Marshawn Lynch showed he is a very capable NFL back but was over shadowed by the emergence of Adrian Peterson out of his rookie class. The Bills still have Lee Evans who I feel is ready for a bounce back year. They Bills added Marcus Stroud and Kawika Mitchell to thier already solid defense. They then added James Hardy and Leodis McKelvin in the draft and appear ready to make a run at the AFC Wildcard in the next few years. The Bills played well at home all last year with 1 point losses to the Cowboys and Broncos and wins over the Jets, Ravens, Bills, and Dolphins. The other 2 losses were to the future NFC and AFC champions.

The Hawks are a different team away from home as they went just 3-5 on the road last year with losses to the Falcons, Panthers, Browns, Steelers, and Cardinals. They added Julius Jones and TJ Duckett to add depth to the running game but I just don't see the Seahawks being able to put up the points that they did last year. I also think the defense is not as good as advertised and should give up their fair share of points. I see a Bills win in the opener at home.

Bills 19
Seahawks 13

The Play:
Bills -1.5 (1 Unit)
