The guard is activated in Missouri. It would need to be REALLY bad for federal forces to be called. Last time the insurrection act was enacted was for the RK situation in 1992 and even that was a mistake. It's a very bad optic.

Guy, local and state police are more capable with dealing with this than the national guard. The NG has no special training in dealing with this. You don't want an 19-year-old PFC with an M-4 taking shots at protestors. That would make things worse.

The Missouri NG has been on the ground for a week. They are providing security at high-value buildings. You don't want the military fighting protestors. This isn't China.
