Where ever he wants...

Not true

Not in Pittsburgh, I think they officially hate him

Not in NE, if Pitt won't pay him, the Pats ain't

It has to be somebody willing to pay stupid money and somebody desperate

Jerry Jones don't need him

I'll go with the Raiders or Jets

Yeah, and what I meant is that your entire premise of him not honoring a contract is off. He was supposed to be a free agent and then they used their little socialist loophole to restrict that. Again, he has nothing to honor.

I should just say real free market types side with L Bell. As conservatives obviously isn’t totally synonymous with free markets.

I'll play this game, union negotiated clauses are not socialistic policies :). Butt that's as far as I'm going with this conversation.

Real conservatives side with L Bell.

Franchise tag is an anti-free market, anti-competitive labor market construct.

NR should write a story on that.
real conservatives aren't stupid enough for passing up $14.5M to work 60 hours and they honor their commitments while trying to change the way things are done. if he didn't want to play this season he should have allowed his team the ability to use that $14M as they saw fit. He's a cvnt not a victim

shit worked out perfectly for him but he was too stupid and/or lazy to sign the contract. he could have signed yesterday, made 8ish million to touch the ball 5x/game and then get his $16M+/yr in a few months which is exactly what he said his intention was anyway

college group coming out at RB is pretty ugly which will work in his favor. possibly worst RB class in draft history

He has no commitments to honor.

If if you wanna say he made a bad economic decision then just say that. But people want to say he is selfish and owes his teammates something, none of this makes sense.

What they really want to say is they hate athletes. They think they’re spoiled, overpaid, entitled and ungrateful if they want more money. People should just say that.

This is why Gronk has his people put it out there that he’s gonna do movies, if he said he wanted more $ then snowflakes would kill him for it.

Also, how would he “allow the team to use the $ how they saw fit”....How would he prevent them from tagging him? Retiring?

This is what I mean. You just wanna say you hate athletes man.

Every time an athlete wants more $, the response is overwhelming negative. Do people really think this is because people are getting fired up about guys not managing their careers better?

No, by and large they think players are compensated too well already and they have negative reactions to guys publicly getting into contract disputes. This is why most agents try to avoid that type of PR.

Hiwever, In the NFL thanks to the anti-competitive franchise tag, this is almost impossible to avoid.

You're really incoherent in this thread.

"Honestly it's a little selfish," center Maurkice Pouncey told reporters after practice. "I'm kind of pissed right now. It sucks that he's not here.

It is inarguable his teammates view him as owing them something.

He could have said "I'm not playing this year"

That's how.

You're off the rails about this dude.

Are you auditioning to be Gronk's agent?

Why do you think the Steelers wouldn’t tag him if he said he would sit out? If it was that easy to get the tag removed then he would’ve just done that and became a FA obviously.

They were tagging him no matter what. He couldn’t avoid it.

Anyone that thinks he could’ve avoided being tagged by telling the Steelers he wasn’t playing this year is off the rails.

Hes just wrong. If you don’t take the franchise tag a 2nd time then you are letting down your teammates? Dont see how that makes sense.

Likely a heat of the moment type comment but obviously not very logical.

Well, his whole offensive line said the same thing so instead of screeching about these fans, you might want to talk about the players.

If he had notified them he wasn't going to play, they wouldn't tag him.
Tagging him isn't something the Steelers can just do. He has to sign it is a contractual matter and they could have mutually agreed to do this.

Of course he could have avoided it.

The entire situation was avoidable.

Maybe he is an asshole? They gotta spend time around him, not me. Doesn’t really change what I’ve said about his contract issue though.

Nah, they still would’ve tagged him. They weren’t gonna let him just hit FA. I dunno why really, they got another good player at RB and could’ve used the $ on positions of need.

You really think if he says “I’m not playing in 2019 for the Steelers, deal with it” that they just cave and let him become a FA? And why should he do that anyway? It’s not his job to gauge risk for them. They played with fire by tagging him 2x. But it wouldn’t have made a difference.

Bell isn't going to get more than what the Steelers offered him, unless it is some free-falling team like Oakland.

The Steelers offered him too much IMO. And they are, and will continue to be, fine without Bell.

If he made a bad economic decision (I don’t think he did as the chances of him getting hurt this year with that workload were pretty high IMO) then thatsb1 thing.

But then people say they hope this costs him money, he’s blackballed, he’s a ****. They really just wanna say they hate athletes trying to get paid.

The animus/negativity towards him because he made a perceived bad business decision? Yeah, don’t think so.

They care because he is sitting out and forfeiting money he could potientially make. They don’t care he wants more money, that’s every player.. It’s because he is refusing to play. I don’t have an opinion on the matter because it’s not for me to assess. But clearly the public wants the best players to play it has very little to do with them being negative about him asking for more money. This is the NFL. All players should be asking for more money, and most of them do. But to sit out and not play an entire season....yeah that itself is going to bring negativity. Nobody is bitching or being negative if this is June and he is asking for more. It’s the fact he isn’t playing and is all about himself in a sport where your teammates make up your success. Who cares about a jump cut and being a special RB if your backup can put up similar numbers. I think he’s the best in the league. But he clearly shunned his teammates. To say it wasn’t selfish is hilarious. He probably himself would admit it was a bit selfish but you got to do what you got to do. I’m sure it became an ego thing because I think he did want to report.

If it’s “selfish” then it certainly shouldn’t be in a negative connotation. He’s just looking out for his career whether you agree with it or not. That isn’t really selfish to me, but that’s more semantics.

If he doesnt want to play on the franchise tag for a 2nd time then more power to him.

And fans obviously hate athletes wanting more money. You aren’t calling a guy a **** because you think he’s bad at math.
