Might?:):):toast:

Honestly I'm fascinated with America's obsession with guns.
My first job was at a shotgun range in Canada, I was the kid who loaded the clay pigeons and then eventually lauched them. We have tonnes of guns in Canada but the same obsession isn't there.

In Canada I can't go to a gun show and buy handguns from some guy without ID or background checks. Just curious why they allow it in the US.

Wouldn't that be a good way for criminals to stock up?

Yea. Might is a key word there. A wise man once told me, no matter how badass you are, there is always a man out there that can kick your ass...

You can buy a gun at a gunshow in the US without ID or background check? Really? Didnt know that.

You sure about that?

Watched 20/20 last night...obviously it was slanted antigun but the gunshow thing stood out. They had a 20 something go in and buy a whack of guns...hidden camera type thing.

Very interesting. The laws vary a little from state to state of course.

Im pro gun ownership. But Im all for making it tougher to obtain one.

There is no reason why folks without a criminal record like myself should not have the right to own a gun.

I have 5 and 4 of them I had to go through a background check. The other one is a shotgun that was passed down.

I'd rather have people jump through hoops for it.
A lot of rhetoric on both sides but really it shouldn't be easy to get a lethal weapon.

Are people required to do any sort of training to get a gun? Shooting range safety etc?

The answer to your question is no. Like I said, it varies from state to state.

But in AZ, you only have to have "training" to have the right to conceal a weapon. You can simply buy handgun with just a background check.

You dont need a background check to buy a rifle or shotgun I believe. Plus, I can display that beauty in the back window of my 1988 Ford Truck if I was a white trash meth head living in Kingman AZ.

And no. I dont own an '88 Ford Truck.

Kingman is known as the meth capital of AZ. Its on the way to Vegas from PHX. On I-40. About 100 miles from Vegas, NV. Only 35 miles from Laughlin, NV.

Vancouver used to be horrible for stolen cars and the police started this program where they would set cars like mousetraps around the city.

Once the car is stolen the ignition shuts off and the doors lock so the thief can't get out. leaving him trapped until the police arrive.

Phoenix is horrible for stolen cars as well. They show these "mouse traps" on the local news now and then. Hillarious trying to see these thugs get out of a locked car.

True. However, anyone who gets in a "gun fight" is a thug who has no respect for any laws what so ever. If they have that mentality, they will have a gun whether it's illegal or legal.

More reason for law abiding citizens to have guns. :103631605

But these thugs aren't killing many people accidentily, so if they do commit a violent crime using a firearm they shouldn't be treated any worse than a doctor who misses the signs of a stroke

Clearly then the solution is to do away with doctors, right?^<<^

If guns were taken away there WOULD be a net savings of innocent lives

You could say the same about Cars and McDonalds...but they ain't going anywhere.....lmaooo

I once knew a Doctor and a Pilot for that matter, who purposely scheduled their days off after "Poker Night" in which they would consume mass quanities of alcohol and marijuana. I would never let this doctor cut on me even when he was sober and I would not fly even after 36 hours of sobriety with the Pilot in question. Call me old fashion, but if an individual is smart enough to be a doctor and a pilot, he/she should use better judgement about "Partying" so hard that they can't function the next day.

I think I seen that Doctor before....

I don't think it's old fashioned, I think it's blindly idealistic. Anyone older than 30 probably can remember having a doctor that either smoked during a visit, or allowed smoking in the waiting room.

Being intelligent enough to be a doctor or pilot has no requisite for judgement when outside their profession. I used to live next door to a cop who drove home drunk 3-4 times a month.

LOL...Comical..Any Doctor that smoked during one of my visits as a child would have received the beating of his or her life....from my Mother and then my Father for good measure.....
