I agree that something has to be done with China, but America is economically the equivalent of a stage 4 cancer patient. Problems that have been growing for decades aren't going to be resolved with short term changes. This isn't going to correct itself without first going through a collapse and nearly everybody is going to surrender major concessions. So I'm agreeing with you that this country isn't prepared to go through a depression, but we're going to get what the doctor has ordered regardless who's feelings are bruised and promises are broken.
That presents logistics and political issues, because who's going to surrender their easy lifestyle and goodies first? A lot of pensions throughout the military, academia, first responders and other public servants have been ridiculously promised too much with minimal funding behind those promises. Millions who are able to work are collecting welfare and disability. The stock market is fragile and interest rates are zero, so where are the future returns going to come from to pay for all the promised goodies?
Are you willing to pay more for nearly everything you buy to manufacture products in America? How much extra are you willing to pay? I'm betting most Americans aren't. They say they are, but we'll see how that unfolds when their Amazon and Walmart shopping sprees cost much more than they do now. I've already read the posts about you and others stating they don't shop at Walmart. That's great, but every other place you're shopping at is stocked with Chinese and other foreign produced goods.
Our government looks embarrassing how unprepared it was for this crisis. It isn't Trump's fault, this has been building for decades. Think of Trump as the nfl coach that looks lost after the broken down team that drafted poorly and made a series of stupid free agent off season moves finally is exposed with consecutive 1-15 seasons. Instead of bailing out every broke company on wall street, people with too much debt, and restaurants that can't make payroll, he should have said, oh well and let the chips fall.
