Woof I think the name of the album is Quik is his name

Rob, I tend to agree with all of the good producers comign out of NY (Primo, RZA, Pete Rock; etc) but there are some cats not in NY doing it (Timbaland, Dr. Dre, Dilla (before he passed), 9th wonder)

olddirty - you are correct basically you have to search hip hop forums and blogs to catch all of the real hip hop out there and stop letting Clear Channel/Radio One dictate you tastes. Every 20 minutes of hearing Shoulder Lean and Snap ya fingers can get very old.

Highdaddy - I dont know about it being good. I know that he pushed this Cd back for a while and it still sounds a little Eh. Maybe I have to give it another listen but for now I was a little disappointed.

not correct to say that ALL music from any region is crap..yes there is crap music in the south, but there is also crap music from the east, west, midwest, etc...I will agree that most rappers from the south are just cashing in on that region being popular at the moment, but that's the way it is everywhere. when wu-tang was running shit, you had companies running out trying to sign groups like that to deals..then Outkast and Goodie Mob blew up and the same companies were running around signing all the south acts..but, what's good is good, be it underground or from wherever, and Outkast and scarface (even though hes from Texas) are quality southern style rappers...can't write off a whole region because some of it's garbage. that's like me saying the east sucks because of someone like joe budden or something

I did make a generalization. But I feel that 95% of southern rap sucks. That leave 5% for decent bands.

I pretty much wrote off hip hop in general. I do not like where it has gone in the last 5 years. That’s what I feel.

one thing we can agree in is the last part of your statement.Hip-Hop, and really music in general, have gone downhill in the recent past. I know it's cliche to say, but the shit is so commercial now. I saw a commercial the other day, where they were using hip hop to sell breakfast cereal. but, like you said, you can always find good stuff, if you look for it.

I am heading down to a hop hop club in DC 2nite for my boys Bday... They play all 90's hip hop. The DJ is sick with it...

I am listening to Brand Nubian - One for all... I feel like joing the black panthers right now...

Whoo hooo... Time to party... There is a 90% chance I will be on post review before the morning... I need a breathilzer to log into the RX...

Go2... Southern hip hop sucks. Plain and simple. There is a large market down there is the only reason they sell. Does not mean shit...

The fatest hip hop can be found underground. True hip hop heads know that. I don't give a fuck whats on TRL...

Didn't say I agree with how things are going down in hip-hop right now just stating the obvious. BTW I rather listen to Ludi or some other rappers than the BS that's coming out of NY right now. Where I'm from it don't matter where the fuck you're from good hip-hop is good hip-hop and for the most part the shit out right now ain't all that good. Underground rappers ain't cut like they use to be as well. Shit most of those MFers is just waiting to get signed or catch a break these days if they say they're not they are BSing. The backpackers are mad at the commercial artists and the commercial artist are laughing at the mad backpackers. I don't give the fuck either way, just put out some good shit that's all I care about.

For anyone who cares..........the new cd by Pharrell is pretty damn good!!!

I didn't like it, he went percussion happy on this album. I'm just waiting for the Clipse album to come out and then we'll see Pharrell at his best. That song he has with Jay-Z on the album kinda grew on me though but his album overall gets a thumbs down from me.

Lil Wayne has the best lyrics. Bar none. Everytime I hear that guy, he's got me saying to myself..."How does he come up with that? That was unbelievable."

Outkast albums.
A couple of old Wu-Tang albums
2-Pac and Biggie are classics

Honestly I was just making a generalization about hip hop today and calling it southern hip hop b/c 80% of what is played now a day in clubs and on the radio is from there. If NYC was making the same music I would not listen to it anyways. <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /><o:p></o:p>
<o:p> </o:p>
I guess we just like different things... I don't listen to Ludi...If Ludi was from NYC I would still not listen to him. His flow is average and I am not much into the beats.
<o:p> </o:p>
I don’t give a crap where anyone is from either. I was just making a generalization.
<o:p> </o:p>
If you got a good sound I listen to you. I think one of the best bands out right now is Big Brother and they are from <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" /><st1:place w:st="on">North Kakalakie</st1:place>.
<o:p></o:p>
I love underground sounds. I like the flow and beats. A guy like MF Doom is the shit to me. We probally just like different music. I been listen to hip hop for 20 years and hate where it currently is at...

Take care...

Chorus: repeat 2x (sung)

I know you’re waitin for daddy, it won’t be long shawty
Be patient cause I’m comin to you
Ridin dirty on 85, slow, takin it easy
I don’t want nothin to keep me from you

[j-bo]
Now the wind blows as I’m on 85, and chiefin good
With a six-pack a that colt 45 just like I should
And if I could, I will, I might, get blowed tonight
If thangs go right, I’m gon’ cut this hoe tonight
So i’ma get a call, from this broad
Run the game like she ain’t ready
But still indeed, she on her knees, keepin thangs steady
Like betty crocker, the face doctor
Just as she swallows with passion
So now she braggin, laggin behind
What questions she now be askin, so time is passin
Now I’m mashin on, I’m gone, livin in the world of hoes
So I suppose, it’s goin down deep in yo’ city
Cause in these parts, ain’t nuthin bad hard times
Now shawty, please, really

Chorus

[big boi]
Sheeeit
I’m lookin for anythang, gonna cut’em up
Like everythang, in my stable
Sir lucius, with the left foot, is ready willing and able
But these hoes will get on your nerves
Fuck all that kickin ’em to the curb
You lackin that tolerance;
You let the hoe swallow it, get off in yo’ parlor an’
Stab out to the cajun crab house
Or the jamaican cat house
Or the college, frat house
For the gul you just, mad house that rat house
And get you some scrub, she ain’t ya girl
Skeet-skeet one off and dip boi
I’m slick as a curl, smooth as a pearl
Don’t, don’t be givin no gifts boi
On the first date or the worst date
I’m goin all the way on the first play
Like hail mary’s to field goals
I think I was put here to drill hoes
For real doe; and while you blowin up my,
Bar I’m off in your purse
To get my gas money then I’m back on the ’spressway
And I’m out this verse, geyeah!

Chorus

[sean paul]
Man this shit gettin crazy, this girl wants to face me
Met her jes last week, told me that her name was stacy
Bad lil’ bitch, add her straight to my collection
Jump in my ’llac, in my pocket got protection
For thangs to go down, see I ain’t playin around
Got a half a tank of gas, I’m 85 southbound
It’s a long ass way, I’m from the 20 side of thangs
She said it’s dead serious, hot like some lighter flames
Oh you know how it go, I’m the nigga, she the hoe
She told me some mo’, I shut my cadillac do’
My hands on the grain, my pedal down to the ground
Ain’t got my license, back so I need to slow down
Now I’m scrapin the flo’, shawty ain’t got on no drawers
Man I’m breakin the law, tryna’ get me this broad
I don’t know what it is, but shawty fine as hell
Slum-type that I like, straight from a-t-l
Shawty yeah!

Strickly New York. If a rap artist/producer is not from New York, then he is garbage and not worth listening to. And dont ever forget this indisputable quote from me.

:pucking:

Rob I am disappointed in you bro. West Coast was the shit in the
90's and most of the best rap artists I think have came from somewhere
other than NY..

I feel the same way man, southern rap is mostly garbage with
repetitious beats and meaningless lyrics.

I think music in general has gone downhill for awhile not only in hip/hop rap. But I have been noticing how good we had it in the 90s with
all the bomb ass groups and individuals. No one has came out so
far this decade that will be considered one of the top 10 rap artists
of all time.

And if someone thinks 50 cent is anything special then I
can see they know nothing..
