"In an interview with VIP SBR was told that VIP had 11,000 active players in 2002 and during the same year had booted 11 players."

Buzz,
Did the interview say how many of the players had there limits slashed? If your laying 2, 3 hundred .. even a nickel a game and they cut you to $50 ... they might as well have booted you.

Lander,
No, and now that you mention it I should of asked but although I do know a couple of the players that were booted because they post here I've never had any complaints from players who had their limits cut.

Maybe Alistair if he is following this thread can give us a number.

What you were told and what really happened are probably two very different things, but let's take a real leap and assume for a moment that they were being honest with you. If VIP only booted 11 players in 2002 (not counting evryone who had limits reduced) it's most likely because they booted a few hundred in 1999, 2000, and 2001 and word has gotten around about them.

Alistair:

A very evasive non-answer, but thanks for not openly lying about your policies.

To be fair though, I think you should put the "We Hate Winners" banner and true policy explanation on your front page and the new signup page to accurately depict to new customers what they can expect if they ever happen to show any signs of betting intelligence.

Sam,
If anything Sam, it's you that are taking the great leap. How do you estimate 200 or 300 booted in years prior? That's a guess pulled out of thin air.

I know of 3 booted players that have been booted over the past few years. If you know Alistair then you know he is not the type that is going to lie. He is not proud or ashamed of it, that's their model.

But Sam if there are 100's or even 300 where the heck are they? Booted players are the most active noise makers of all. You are just guessing Sam amd your guess is WAY off buddy.

Buzzsaw:

We're both just guessing because neither one of us has access to their records, but I've seen them come to the forums on several occasions and lie about their limit/boot policy before, so it would make sense that they wouldn't be honest with you about that very policy.

Your guess is based on what someone who wants to get good publicity from your site told you, while mine is based on experiences relayed to me from people who have been booted, combined with the fact that VIP has lied about not booting winners.

We'll let the folks here decide who's WAY off, and who's not.

Sam,
Let’s do the math Sam using your figures. I divided your “200-300 in the prior years” guess and came out with about 75.

OK now the math, you say 75 and I say 11. So you are saying that 99.993% of the 11,000 players are not booted and I’m saying 99.999% of players do not see the boot.

You get my point Sam? Even if we take your extremely inflated numbers I think you can see that most players reaching up to the 99.993 percentile are not at all affected by their risk management.

And the trade off is that the players enjoy a nice reward program and other perks.

Your math would be correct if we could believe that VIP really has 11,000 active customers. It might be interesting to see how they define "active".

In any event, this is not about the math, or how many VIP has booted over the years. This is about the lies they have been telling (and that you have been repeating) about only limiting/booting steam chasers and not all winners.

VIP, and all the books they are involved with, limit and boot winners....period.

Bottom line is; VIP do pay. VIP was my first internet book. Lost a lot there but won some back. So what if they boot players? They did pay those players didn't they? Even if they cut winner's limit to $50, If you win $50 everyday, that's 18k. Not a bad chump change ain't it?
Just because they cut player's limit doesn't mean they are bad joint. They are in this business to make $ not lose $.

gl anyway

ps; VIP, I like your old software better than the new one.

Booting players means nothing whether a book is good or not, less face the facts here VIP is as strong as they come now.

Nonsensical gibberish being spouted by someone who rarely knows what they're talking about means nothing about whether a book is good or bad.

OTOH, knowing that a book will boot you if they think you have a clue is valuable information for those who actually do have a clue, or hope to get one in the future.

KW,
Sam usually does know what he is talking about, this is possibly the only thread I have ever seen him him that he used all guess work.

OK Sam it's clear that there is no amount of eveidence or arguement that will cahnge your opinion. You are firm in your believe that the world is flat so to speak..errr that VIP boots 000.07 %.

Meanwhile VIP remains one of the fastet growing books despit a tough enviroment. I sarted following them when they had 9 employees and now they have 140 about the same as WWTS. They proved you could build without spending much on marketing or giving big bonuses or credit. Just take great care of the players. It really is a good model.

How can booting winners be considered a "good model?"

Totally disagree...I am of the opinion that any model which limits, reduces and terminates, customers, action and handle is certainly a flawed one.

As such, I have implemented a “NO PLAY” policy upon Sport Books, which do not welcome winners, believing that if they cannot welcome winners, they do not deserve losers.

“Booting players means nothing?”

Again, I totally disagree. To me, such means that a Bookmaker is classifying player’s action in order to discriminate, which “type” of action is desirable. Doing so indicates an inability to “properly” broker such action, which can rightfully be extrapolated to other weaknesses such as management, financing, and a flawed business model.

A “good” bookmaker should never feel compelled to limit, restrict, discriminate, and terminate “faceless” action.

Loyalty is a two-way street, and there is no “good” in a Bookmaker who rewards the occasional winner with a boot.
