ESPN NBA 2k5 is frustrating man; anything thrown into the paint and you get automatic 2 with a baby hook or lay in.

Has ALWAYS been the problem with basketball games. You can always find a flaw in the game that allows you to do what you mention above, or dunk over and over......

I remember that old Battlefield arcade game. When I was little, they had one in the convenience store. It was pretty tough if I remember correctly......

Because of them buying out the rights Rob?

I have always thought their graphics were good, but never liked the gameplay.
Their Non-Sports titles are usually very good though.....

Madden 06 is gonna be hated by the public. They are gonna completely change the passing system to make it harder. Now you can "lead" the reciever and throw away from the defense. But the killer is gonna be QB "vision", you will still be able to see the whole field but there will be a "vision cone" to where your qb is looking. You will have to scan the field with your cone. If you are looking left, and fire it to the right side of the field, it's probably gonna be picked off. They are going for a more realistic style of play and trying to cut down on the 600 yard passing games with 5 minute quarters.

Should be intersting

Is it true the EASPORTS is the only gaming company that has the NFL rights this year?

Does this mean that Madden is the only game that can use the NFL team names, and the NFL players names?

If this is true its sad. I personally think EA and Madden are overrated. I think the NFL2K series from SAGA is much better than MADDEN. If EA has those rights it will eliminate all competition, and EA will lose all incentive to make there game better. Even if you are the biggest diehard Madden fan in the world this is not a good thing. Competion has never hurt anyone.

I'm pretty sure that is that case Chop. I believe they also did the same with another sport, but now positive.....

EA strips the competition of their red flag, leaving no room for challenge.

Electronic Arts today announced an exclusive deal with the National Football League, one in which the company will be the only provider of NFL licensed products that contain the leagues players, teams and stadiums. Terms of the deal were not disclosed. The deal, which spans five years, means that EA titles might be the only officially licensed NFL football games on the market during the duration of the agreement.

"The five-year agreements will usher NFL fans through the console technology transition with new ideas and innovative game play experiences," said EA CEO Larry Probst. In a statement issued earlier today, the company also stated that "For the first time, all aspects of the interactive experience - including console-based fantasy football features and handheld game devices - will be fully integrated within one EA game," This suggests that handheld connectivity and fantasy football features will be involved in the company's future plans for their NFL-licensed products.

The agreement comes as harsh news for EA's strongest competitors, developer Visual Concepts and publishers Sega Sammy Holdings and Take-Two Interactive Software, who are responsible for the resurging ESPN series of football games. The ESPN lineup, which included ESPN NFL 2K5, was discounted this year to the budget price of $19.99 as the gap of units sold between market leader EA (Madden) and the ESPN series closed to a margin of 1.5- to- 1 as opposed to previous years' margins of 10-to-1.

"We started talking about this months before the ESPN product even hit the shelves," Gene Upshaw, director of the NFL Players Association, stated. "It's been an ongoing dialogue about what can we do in this category to make it better for all of us."

Probst also stated the company plans to utilize the exclusive NFL license outside the popular Madden and NFL Street brands, but did not disclose any information regarding the new products.

No official statement has come from Sega, Take-Two or Visual Concepts regarding the deal, but shares of Take-Two fell nearly 7 percent to $33 in after-hours trade on Inet from a $35.42 Nasdaq close after the Electronic Arts/NFL deal was announced.

The deal is exclusive to consoles, handheld gaming devices and the PC, leaving publishers of cell phone-based and fantasy football products (like THQ) unaffected.

Thanks Hache, This is bad news even to the MADDEN die hards. I hate Madden. I have not played it since Playstation1. I personally think its a very week game compared to the SAGA games.

Now EASPORTS has lost all incentive to improve because they bought out all the competition. I wonder if the other game companys are even going to bother making football games during the next 5 years. Nobody want to play a game with the Oakland Tigers vs the Atlanta Bulldoggs or whatever names they must make up for the teams.

This is a really sad day. EA realized they had an inferior product to the competion. So they had to buy there way to the leader board. I guess im done playing football games for the next 5 years. SAGAS football series was great. I have been playing it since it first came out on the DREAMCAST. When they cut the price to 20 bucks the masses started to see just how good Saga really was. So EA had to do something to stop them because they knew there product sucked compared to SAGA.

Couldn't agree with ya more on madden. Im not sure if SAGA is the same thing as NFL 2k1 on dream cast or not. But i thought the dreamcast was the last system to have real nice NFL games. 2k1 was the last nFL game i played on gaming systems.

However i like the NCAA football series on x-box alot also. It was actually pretty hard for awhile on the hardest level and such. But then like any game, after a period of time it's easy as hell and u could win it with army LOL
