Via longtime Republican Tom Nichols:

I watched the first half of Fox's evening news broadcast, and gonna say: If their viewers in the red states were looking for reassurance about COVID in their states, they didn't get it. Have to applaud that.

And

I knew I'd take shit for saying that Fox said something normal, but my point is this: They can get a thumbs-up for at least one report that they knew would make their viewers uncomfortable. It wasn't "just the facts," it was a clear message that this is getting worse. /1

They also managed to do it without "whatabouting" any other story about COVID. If you were watching tonight in the red states, you had to be thinking: "Uh oh, we might have screwed up somehow." I was surprised that it was aired at all, tbh. /2x

Very sad but 100,000 of those same people would be dead now anyhow because health and age issues without the rona.

But good try idiot.

Yeah all of use are going to die anyway. Why even wear a seat belt ever? Why even have breaks on your car? Why even wait til old age? Just off yourself now. You’re going to die anyway.

Great logic, COVIDidiot

From the AARP website:

More than 43,000 long-term care residents and staff have died from COVID-19, representing over a third of the nation’s known coronavirus deaths, according to a Kaiser Family Foundation tally. While dire, this figure is an undercount, experts warn, because not all states are publicly reporting data yet. In many states more than half of coronavirus deaths are connected to long-term care facilities.

Another grim COVID milestone today: the United States has passed 117,000 deaths, more than the total number of Americans killed in World War I.

MAY 15: The University of Washington coronavirus model cited by the White House has revised its estimate to 147,000 coronavirus deaths by August.

-----
This seems remarkably conservative if the average daily death toll of past six weeks persists, the U.S. will top 147k deaths by the third week of June

Ahhh, the ole Barman "if the current rate continues" predictive logic. Always sound.

Trump lied to the WSJ on Wednesday that Oklahoma's coronavirus spike "has already ended."

On Thursday, Oklahoma reported another record increase in new cases. https://t.co/pL14X5JmNM

Exactly 4 months ago, President Trump said this:

"You have 15 people, and the 15 within a couple of days is going to be down to close to zero."
