Tuesday's six-pack

— A’s 3, Angels 2—Oakland walks off for 3rd day in a row; tremendous!!!! Jed Lowrie homered twice, including the game-winner.
— Orioles 6, Nationals 4—Baltimore homered three times in first inning.
— Capitals 5, Penguins 2—Game 7 is in Washington Wednesday nite.
— Warriors 121, Jazz 95—Next up for Golden State, the Spurs-Rockets survivor.
— I am told Matt Harvey’s 3-day suspension amounts to roughly $84,000.
— Get well soon Jameson Taillon; the Pirates’ pitcher is apparently being treated for testicular cancer.

Tuesday’s NBA Playoffs Conference Semifinals betting preview: Rockets at Spurs

Star small forward Kawhi Leonard scored just 16 points in Game 4 after averaging 27 over the first three games.

Houston Rockets at San Antonio Spurs (-5.5, 214.5)

Series tied 2-2

The San Antonio Spurs have seen the Houston Rockets turn the Western Conference semifinals into a best-of-3 series and they are feeling the urgency heading into Tuesday's Game 5. Host San Antonio will need to ratchet up the intensity after Houston operated at will while evening the series at two wins apiece on Sunday night.

The third-seeded Rockets drained 19 3-pointers in the 125-104 victory and they carved up the Spurs for 68 second-half points in the impressive showing. "This is a big stage they did it on," Houston coach Mike D'Antoni told reporters. "We have a lot of work left, but there's no reason why we can't go down to San Antonio and repeat the performance." The second-seeded Spurs will be attempting to turn the page as Sunday's loss certainly was a mighty blow and opened the door for the Rockets. "Game 5 is a Game 7," Ginobili told reporters. "We had a great opportunity to go back to San Antonio 3-1 and in a better situation. Now it's 2-2. Game 7 - We've really got to be knowing that every possession is a game-winning possession."

TV: 8 p.m. ET, TNT

LINE HISTORY: The Spurs opened as 5.5-point home favorites for Tuesday's crucial Game 5 and that number hasn't moved. The total hit the betting board at 215 and came down slightly to 214.5 on Monday.

INJURY REPORT:

Rockets - PG P. Beverley (Probable, probable), C Nene (Out For Season, groin).

Spurs - PG T. Parker (Out For Season, quadricep).

ABOUT THE ROCKETS (61-30 SU, 47-44 ATS, 46-44-1 O/U): Houston suffered a huge blow in Game 4 as backup center Nene suffered a torn left groin - officially termed a torn adductor - and will miss the rest of the playoffs. Nene and starter Clint Capela were giving Houston solid production in the middle and the Rockets will be forced to use power forwards Montrezl Harrell and Ryan Anderson at center -- the latter being more of an outside shooter than an interior player. "Obviously I'm not a very conventional 5-man, but it also makes it difficult for the other team to figure out how to guard us with pick-and-pops or if I'm rolling to the basket or whatever it is," Anderson told reporters. "Our ability to run, we have to take those opportunities to our advantage."

ABOUT THE SPURS (67-25 SU, 47-43-2 ATS, 51-39-2 O/U): The point guard situation is a huge issue for San Antonio after the season-ending quadriceps injury suffered by veteran Tony Parker in Game 2. Rookie Dejounte Murray started the past two games and averaged five points and 1.3 assists while backup Patty Mills averaged 12.5 points and 3.5 assists but made just 8-of-21 field-goal attempts. Star small forward Kawhi Leonard scored just 16 points in Game 4 after averaging 27 over the first three games while power forward LaMarcus Aldridge is enduring a mostly quiet series by averaging 15.3 points and 6.5 rebounds.

TRENDS:

* Rockets are 0-5 ATS in their last 5 games following a straight up win of more than 10 points.
* Spurs are 5-1 ATS in their last 6 after allowing 100 points or more in their previous game.
* Over is 9-2 in Rockets last 11 Conference Semifinals games.
* Over is 7-1 in Spurs last 8 overall.
* Over is 6-1-1 in the last 8 meetings in San Antonio.

Tuesday’s Stanley Cup Playoffs betting preview: Senators at Rangers

The Rangers, who sustained a double-overtime loss in Game 2, suffered a similar fate in Game 5 - falling in one extra session to find themselves on the verge of elimination.

Ottawa Senators at New York Rangers (-170, 5)

Sens lead series 3-2

The New York Rangers find themselves in a familiar position, only their postseason hangs in the balance this time around. New York attempts to send its Eastern Conference second-round series to the limit when it hosts the Ottawa Senators for Game 6 on Tuesday.

The Rangers, who squandered a lead and sustained a double-overtime loss in Game 2, suffered a similar fate in Game 5 - falling in one extra session to find themselves on the verge of elimination. Kyle Turris scored at 6:28 of overtime to put Ottawa one victory away from reaching the conference final for the third time in franchise history and first since 2007, when it went on to land in the Stanley Cup Final. New York is hoping a different trend continues as the home team has won each of the first five games in the series. The Rangers, who have scored the first goal in every game of the series thus far, posted a pair of 4-1 triumphs in their own building while the Senators have recorded three one-goal victories on home ice.

TV: 7:30 p.m. ET, NBC Sports Network, CBC, TVAS

LINE HISTORY: The Rangers opened as -170 home favorites for this crucial Game 6 and that moneyline has yet to move. The total opened at 5.

INJURY REPORT:

Senators - D M. Borowiecki (Out Indefinitely, leg).

Rangers - No injuries to report.

ABOUT THE SENATORS (51-31-7-4, 36-50 O/U): Turris is proving to be a clutch postseason performer, as his goal in Game 5 was his third career playoff game-winner - with all three coming in overtime. Captain Erik Karlsson registered the first three-point performance of his playoff career with a trio of assists in Game 5. The 26-year-old Swede has scored a goal and set up 10 others this postseason, setting franchise records for most assists and points by a defenseman in one playoff year.

ABOUT THE RANGERS (54-30-5-4, 43-41 O/U): Captain Ryan McDonagh scored his 10th career playoff goal in Game 5, tying Barry Beck for fifth place on the franchise list among defensemen while becoming the sixth blue-liner in club history to reach double digits. Derek Stepan is riding a four-game point streak after notching an assist in Game 5 to tie Steve Vickers and Ron Greschner for sixth place on the franchise list with 49 career postseason points. Jimmy Vesey and defenseman Brady Skjei have each recorded five points this postseason, becoming the franchise's second rookie duo since 1986-87 to accomplish the feat (Jesper Fast and Kevin Hayes in 2015).

TRENDS:

* Senators are 1-4 in their last 5 games playing on 2 days rest.
* Rangers are 4-0 in their last 4 home games.
* Under is 3-0-1 in Senators last 4 after scoring 5 goals or more in their previous game.
* Under is 4-0-2 in Rangers last 6 home games.
* Home team is 7-0 in the last 7 meetings.

MLB | Twins vs White Sox
Play on: Twins -108 at GTBets

I'm recommending a play on the Minnesota Twins with Santiago over Pelfrey. The Detroit Tigers found out the hard way that Mike Pelfrey is one of the worst pitchers in the American League as they signed him to a two-year $16 million-dollar contract last year, but then released him in March. Pelfrey is 0-2 with a 5.02 ERA for the White Sox allowing 10 runs and 15 hits in 14 1/3 innings, which follows a 2016 season when he was 4-10 with a 5.07 ERA and a .332 opponent batting average. In 11 innings against the Twins, he gave up 11 runs on 20 hits and walked four. Hector Santiago has not allowed more than three runs in six starts this season and he pitched seven shutout innings against the White Sox on April 16. Chicago hitters are collectively batting .162 against Santiago and he was 4-0 with a 1.03 ERA against Chicago last year. The White Sox just got swept at Baltimore while scoring a total of seven runs and Minnesota has won seven of 11 on the road. We're recommending a play on the Twins on Tuesday. Thanks & GL! MLB | Twins vs White Sox
Play on: White Sox +101 at BMaker

Free Pick on White Sox +

I like the value here with Chicago at basically a pick'em at home against the Twins. The White Sox are quietly sitting at 15-15, which is tied with division rival Detroit for the 7th best record in the AL. Not bad for a team that most thought was in a major rebuilding phase. While it's likely the White Sox will regress at some point, right now they are playing some decent baseball.

The biggest thing here is I like the pitching matchup for the White Sox, as they will face Minnesota lefty Hector Santiago. Chicago's bats have feasted on left-handed starters this season. The team owns an 8-3 record when they face a south paw starter and as a team are averaging 5.8 runs/game with a .303 batting average. It's also worth noting that Santiago comes in with a not so great 4.15 ERA and 1.443 WHIP in his last 3 starts. Taking this a step further, the White Sox are 23-8 in their last 31 home games against a left-handed starter. They are also 21-9 in their last 30 home games against a team that's won 60% or more of their road games. Take Chicago!

MLB | Royals vs Rays
Play on: Rays -1½ +130 at GTBets

Tampa got smoked last night by the Royals. Can the Royals put two solid performances back to back? I highly doubt it.

Young is taking the mound for the first time this year so he will be limited plus this guy is known for giving up runs and he does so in bunche.

Andriesse has been solid with a 3.09 ERA on the season in six starts and in better form lately with a 2.84 ERA his last 3 starts
