This show is embarrassing. The total opposite of the first season. Very disappointing.

Wow ok, I was shocked... Thought it was 7 episodes just like season 1... Still, what a shitty episode. Took 6 weeks for Colin Farrell to fuck nympho Rachel McAdams.

I thought it was good. I wish it was about 15 weeks long to get all the characters and their complex story lines all tied up.

+1 Only way this becomes a good season. Director def chose a bad way to tell this story which is a good story but is all rushed and we basically have a lot of loose ends with little time, we are just getting used to our characters. Is not that the actors are bad, they are good (except for my man Vince Vaugh, I like him as a person and as a comedy guy, don't buy it as a gangster).

Reason why season 1 went way better is mainly because the story was way better portraited and we got so much focus on the 2 main characters (their relationships, their demons, their past explained in crafty dialogues, their evolution over which was helped by the fact the history is not lineal). And well to be fair, Matthew and Woody are better actors, have a better career altogether, there's no denying that!

This show has a laughable amount of characters it expects you to keep track of. I'm smarter than the average bear but watching these episodes once a week and keeping track of all the names thrown around is not easy. It's fine if its complex but there needs to be some reward or interest in these periphery characters for any of it to make sense. The bad cops, gangster mexicans etc...

I really don't have a handle on what the mayor's secretary is all about. She was an orphan witness to some jewel robbery in 1992? Am I the only one that does not know what the fuck they are talking about with some of this?

I don't even really know who the shooter was in the final scene last night, some bad cop that had a few lines in episode 1 who is cahoots with another bad cop tied in with a blackwater type security force that is in league with the Russians, a land development company (Catalyst) and the Mayor's friggin son? Really?

Exactly, there's so much going on in every episode it's sometimes difficult to follow.

Casper's murderer is going to end up being the Mayor's secretary (orphan witness) who has maybe 3 lines and 40 seconds of total screen time in the season and I am going to be all kinds of pissed off at the merry-go-round they put me on. Who the fuck can keep track of the names of all the very tertiary characters they are throwing in the mix.

Season 1 had an elegance and depth to it. This season is just an ill-conceived puzzle where they bluntly wedge ill-fitted pieces together in the hope of having something 'complex'. Instead the story is clumsy, confusing and downright arrogant in the telling.

Not to mention the ridiculous dialogues! Some examples:

“Everything is fucking”
"Blue balls for your heart"
“He looks half anaconda, half great-white...”

My wife looked at me last night and just said "I'm lost."

How did you resist:

'I figured I'd drill a new orifice and fuck myself for a change'
and
'Guys been around the last 3 months less than my wife's period'

Tin ear dialogue.

I always understand these things and I am totally lost.

Btw what happened to Taylor Kitsch in the desert anyway?

Seems like they solved the whole case from a photo and the fact that there were 2 (!) girls named 'Laura' in California over the span of 25 years. Eureka! Smoking fuckin' gun there.

I really liked the last two episodes. This series could have been really good, if the story line wasn't so hard follow.
