Google Smoot Hawley Tariff Act of 1930
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Smoot-Hawley_Tariff_Act OK but all I am saying about tarriffs is MEET anybody elses tarriff fight fire with fire..... Another words if say like India charges a $2 tarriff on a crate of oranges then we need to charge an equal tarriff on anything they ship here say like a case of cheap knives you see a lot of them are made in India & Pakastan.... Also Japan charges a big tarriff on US built Automobiles & we don't...Is that fair?..Of course not.

Just wondering, is that "buy American" clause an attempt by Obama to improve international relationships? I don't know, but I don't think they're going to like it very much.

"We are going to tear down that wall that's been built between America and Europe"

and I thought Al Franken was the comedian

:lolBIG:

did I ever mention "words are cheap"?

3pee, The GOP saved your messiah's ass on this one. You're welcome

Maybe he gave up on it because he realised he was making an ass out of himself because you cant hardly find anything made here anymore.

i see plenty of american made things in my home

soap, shampoo, mustard, deodarant, paper plates, advil, bandaids, toilet paper

pretty much any consumable on the market in america is american made and we export these things to many markets around the world

you just think too much along the lines of electronics and metal objects

You and me both

This past month - after a 13 year hiatus - we plugged back to buy at wholesale pricing from Amway Global (consumables, nutrition, health & beauty). In tandem with a lot of the joint ventures they have with other Fortune 500 companies, we can now buy 95% of our consumables and household items from American manufacturers.

Buying consumables, food products and household goods is the bulk of what most Americans spend money on and it's not that hard to buy almost solely from US-based manufacturers

my ideal setup for today would be pickup at all homes say two 2 days a week and i suppose if you had something delivered that day they would pick up any mail in your mailbox.....if you really needed something delivered fast you'd have to go to the post office (right now most people do that anyway for overnight delivery or what not)

and that would just be for private residences....obviously businesses would need day to day deliveries in and out....so you could bring your outgoing mail with you to work if you wanted something to go out that day.....

and all this would give people more incentive to go paperless and cut back on waste and volume of mail

less trucks needed, less gas guzzling...but unfortunately less jobs

anyway kinda talkin out of my ass here i'd have to think about it more.....but all i know is the current setup is very wasteful

what about the salary these postman have been making? they have/had job security, great benefits, pay raises, and high pay. if you ask me they have been overpaid for along time, to play with and deal mail. the same as all government employees really. government is just grossly inefficient and non-competitive all around. gotta say that any delivery company could do better with our mail than the usps. screw all these government employees who are out of touch with anything but slow work and good pay.
