The Money Team Wins - NBA Wednesday

Recap 1-1

NBA YTD
155-110

1K BROOKLYN -12 (LOST)

The Houston Rockets come along at the right time for the Nets, who are desperately trying to lock down the 6th seed in the Eastern Conference. They badly need a win and will get an easy one here. The Rockets are going through the motions at this point and as they are on the last game of an east coast road trip before heading home, their thoughts may be elsewhere. Meanwhile, the Nets should be locked in as they need to win games down the stretch to avoid having to compete in the play-in tournament. Also, the Rockets have been a bad bet, as they have lost 5 of their last 6 against the spread. Take the Nets to cover.

1K PHOENIX -6.5 (
WON)

Karl-Anthony Towns, who hit the game-winning shot against the Warriors last Sunday, sat out the Kings game due to a calf injury management, and he should be ready to go Wednesday against Phoenix. On the other side, the Suns are expecting to get Kevin Durant back. According to Shams Charania of The Athletic, Durant will return from an ankle injury that kept him on the sidelines for ten straight games.

With KD back in the starting lineup and having a debut in front of the home crowd in Phoenix, I have to take the Suns. Minnesota beat Phoenix 121-116 at home in their previous duel in January, and the Suns were quite shorthanded, missing both Devin Booker and Chris Paul. If Durant suits up Wednesday, the Suns will be at full strength.

The Money Team Wins - NBA Thursday

Recap 1-0
NBA YTD 156-110 (59%)

DENVER UNDER 231.5 (BIG WIN 195 POINTS)

Taking the under in this game for a couple of reasons. Both teams are coming off games where they went under their respective totals. In addition, both teams have an abundance of trends indicating the under. The Pelicans have gone under in seven of their past eight road games and in six of their past seven games following an ATS loss. Meanwhile, the Nuggets have gone under in their past six games overall. Both teams rank below average in terms of pace according to Dunks & Threes so we can expect both teams to work slowly on both ends of the court, meaning we can expect fewer possessions for both teams and in turn, fewer points scored. The Nuggets average 116.8 points per game on the season and allow opponents to average 112.7 points per game on the season, while the Pelicans are averaging 114.3 points per game on the season and allow opponents to average 112.5 points per game on the season. These averages put our adjusted total well under the given total, which is always a good indicator when considering the under. Lastly, when these teams have faced off in the past, they have gone under in nine of their past 12 meetings overall and in six of their past eight meetings in Denver, making me all the more confident in taking the under for this matchup.

The Money Team Wins - NBA Friday

Recap 2-1 (67%)
NBA YTD 158-111 (
59%)

1K LA LAKERS +1 (BIG WIN)

These two teams are playing very well right now as they head for a likely spot in the play-in tournament, although that is not assured for either one of them yet. But I have to give the edge to the Lakers right now for a few reasons. One, the Timberwolves have won both previous contests against the Lakers, so the Lakers will be looking for payback. Two, former Timberwolves, Russell, Jarred Vanderbilt, and Malik Beasley, will be returning to the place that traded them away, so they will be primed to show the home fans what they are missing. And three, this is James third game back, so he should be getting his legs back under him. Take the Lakers here to cover.

1K GOLDEN STATE -16 (
LOST 130-115)

The Warriors shouldn’t have any problems beating the hapless Spurs by a big margin, so I’m laying points with the reigning champs. San Antonio is already looking to the future, and without Devin Vassell and Keldon Johnson, I don’t think the Spurs are capable of keeping it close at Chase Center. The Spurs are 0-5 ATS in their last five games overall, 3-13 ATS in their last 16 games against the Western Conference, and 1-14 ATS in their previous 15 meetings with the Pacific Division. On the other side, the Warriors have gone 10-1 ATS in their last 11 outings on the home floor.

1K PHOENIX -8 (
WON)

This is a tough spot for the Nuggets, who’ll have to deal with fatigue on the second day of a back-to-back, traveling from Denver to Phoenix. The Suns enjoyed a day off after a big win over Minnesota, so I’m going with Phoenix to cover. Kevin Durant can only play better than he did last Wednesday, while Devin Booker has been unstoppable of late, tallying 30.2 points a night on 53.5% shooting from the field over his previous ten outings. The Suns are 7-2 ATS in their previous nine encounters with the Nuggets.

The Money Team Wins - NBA Sunday

Recap 1-1
NBA YTD
159-112

1K TWOLVES -17 (LOST)

By far, the Wolves come into this game as the much more desperate team. Portland has packed it in for the season and will be without four of its regular starters. Meanwhile, the Wolves have lost two straight games and can't lose another with the standings so bunched up in the west. Towns return has certainly helped a poor rebounding team on the glass and opened up the Minnesota offense. In the last ten meetings between these two teams, the Wolves are 6-4 overall and 6-4 ATS. Minnesota is 6-0 ATS in the last six games at home vs. Portland. Portland will continue to struggle from the offensive end without four of its starters and Minnesota should thrive with matchup advantages all over the court.

1K BUCKS -4.5 (WON)

Milwaukee lost to Boston on Thursday, but that may be good news for Bucks fans, as this team has not lost back-to-back games since January 12-14. They have been consistently the best team in the NBA over the last 10 weeks, and that is bad news for a 76ers team that enters this game as losers of their last three games on the road. The Milwaukee defense has been struggling of late, but they are averaging 124.8 points per game over their last five, and Philadelphia simply does not take enough shots to take advantage of the defensive lapses of the Buck's. Philadelphia has won the last two meetings between these teams, including earning a three-point victory over Milwaukee on March 4. Look for the Bucks to get a little revenge.

The Money Team Wins - NBA TUESDAY

NBA YTD 159-113 (58%)

1K MAGIC UNDER 222.5 (LOST)

I expect this to be a slow-paced, low-scoring game, so I’m on the under. Even with Mitchell’s recent ability to put up 40 points seemingly at will, I’m a fan of both teams defensively. As the league’s slowest-paced team, the Cavaliers love to slow the tempo, and the Magic don’t really play a whole lot faster. Cleveland has the league’s No. 1 adjusted defense, while Orlando isn’t far behind at No. 12. The under has hit in four of the last five games for Orlando, who are allowing just 107.2 points per game during that span. The under has hit in three of the last four for Cleveland. I love how the Magic are competing down the stretch, and I think we see a great defensive effort out of both teams.

The Money Team Wins - NBA WEDNESDAY

RECAP 0-2
NBA YTD
159-115 (58%)

1K BULLS +7 (
LOST)

Both of these teams are playing the second game of a back to back, so don't expect a ton of energy. Also, for the Bucks, they basically have the top seed wrapped up, so there is a good likelihood that some key players could sit out and rest. The Bulls have a spot in the play-in tournament locked up but they do still have something to play for in that they could move up in the play-in tournament and improve their chances of advancing. Plus, they have had success against Milwaukee this year, winning two out of three thus far. Take the Bulls here to cover.

1K LAKERS ATS (
LOST)

The Lakers are winless in ten straight meetings with the Clippers while going 1-9 ATS in the process. I think their awful streak will come to an end. The Lakers have played in a better form than the Clippers lately, and without Paul George, the Clippers will have a tough day in the office offensive-wise. The Lakers’ defense has been outstanding over the last 15 games, allowing 110.0 points a night (3rd in the NBA) on 34.0% shooting from beyond the arc (7th). LeBron James and D’Angelo Russell were listed as questionable to play against the Jazz on Tuesday night but should be ready to go against the Clippers.

FRIDAY APRIL 7TH

NBA YTD 160-115 (58%)

1K HORNETS +2.5 (LOST)

It's Charlotte's final home game and it's against a Houston team that's been terrible on the road all season, with a 6-33 record. Houston takes most of their shots at the rim, with inconsistent results, and Charlotte's greatest strength as a team is forcing misses at the rim. Even with all of the injuries, Charlotte's defense should be the most impactful unit playing in this game. By shutting down Houston's offense and taking advantage of their terrible defense, the Hornets will sweep the Rockets. The home fans will leave happy when the Hornets take this game by enough to beat the spread.

1K WARRIORS -8.5 (
BIG WIN)

Golden State is still without Andrew Wiggins (personal), who returned to practice but won’t play against Sacramento. Klay Thompson is questionable, but I think the Warriors will cover even if he remains on the sidelines. The reigning champs have a huge motive to win this game and avoid the play-in tournament, so I’m expecting their offense to torture the Kings’ leaky D. The Kings are 26th in the NBA in opposing 3-point percentage (37.3%). They’ll struggle to cope with Stephen Curry and Jordan Poole, and I’m expecting this duo to make a difference down the stretch. The Warriors have won seven of their last eight contests against the Kings, though Sacramento won the previous one 122-115 on November 13, 2022.
