Awesome! Enjoy...probably not the best time to go, but if you plan to live there, I guess it doesn't matter. Lol
wasn't even thinking about that, but you are right...w/ both statements.

I was assigned to Camp Lejeune in Jacksonville NC and I absolutely hated it there.

I have not heard great things about Jacksonville NC, but it is HOUR away from Wilmington

It has to be better. I remember it being hot and humid like it is here in Texas. I'm sure there are many nice places to live in NC though. When I retire though, I'm moving away from the humidity. I can deal with the heat, but humidity around 80% or more on a daily basis sucks.

I hear ya...in fact I was working on a deal few months back that would have moved me to Houston area (League City area) and there were MANY negative check marks in the Houston column including humidity!

Sorry your panties are bunched up over it Matty. But in my original post I said, maybe if you drive 15 minutes out of town. Beaufort is a shitty, worn out military town...w/ strip clubs, tattoo shops, used car lots (everywhere), Bojangles Chicken, payday loans, thrift shops, greasy spoon cafes, etc.....and TED's, did I mention them?

If it was good enough for the Great Santini, it is good enough for me....lol

Be careful CB, Marines don't take kindly to rubber ducks....

I was stationed at Cherry Point...was happy to go overseas after being there....was there the same time as the Spinks brothers...they were in the gym everyday...

I did my MOS training there, a little over 6 months. I really enjoyed Camp Pendleton though, night and day difference for me.

After my overseas tour, I went to El Toro....night and day for me also....met my Ex there and had a great time in Southern California...visited Camp Pendleton a few years ago and couldn't believe the renovations...looks like a country club from the highway...LOLLOL

I'm sure it's changed, I last saw it in 1988. California added gambling after I was gone, probably a good thing, lol. Isn't El Toro gone? I saw the Blue Angels there once.

El Toro is history...I worked in the tower during those air shows....that is why Railbird is always on my ass about air show deaths...

You ever come across a Sgt Major Crawford when you served? He became the Sgt Major of the Marine Corps after I got out in 1979...we played a few rounds of golf together in Okinawa at the Kadena Air base...
