Rudy Giuliani WILL vote for Trump: New York's 9/11 mayor throws his weight behind Republican frontrunner

  • Former New York City Mayor called Donald Trump a 'friend' and said he planned to vote for him in the state's April 19 primary
  • Giuliani didn't make an official endorsement because he doesn't plan to campaign on Trump's behalf

Donald Trump's bid for the White House is getting a boost from New York City's former mayor.
Rudy Giuliani is planning to vote for Trump in the upcoming New York Republican primary.
Giuliani's spokesman Jake Menges said Thursday that the former mayor considers Trump 'a friend,' and always believed he would back Trump over his rival Ted Cruz.

Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani said he planned to vote for Donald Trump in the state's primary, but won't official endorse the billionaire as they won't be campaigning side-by-side

Donald Trump is doubling down on New York, hoping that his home state will give him enough delegates to be able to clinch the GOP nomination for the party's July convention in Cleveland, Ohio

Talking to the New York Post, Giuliani said, 'I support Trump. I'm gonna vote for Trump.'
He also said that the billionaire real estate investor had a 'good shot' of securing the Republican nomination and amassing most of the 95 delegates up for grabs in New York state.
Trump's chief challenge Cruz had made comments in the past about Trump representing 'New York values,' a dog whistle to conservatives concerned with family values.
The comments seemed to take aim at Trump's womanizing past and three marriages.
More recently, Cruz has said it was a dig at New York City's liberal political class.
Either way, Giuliani said he wasn't impressed.
'It's New York City. We're family. I can make fun of New York. But you can't!' the former mayor told the New York Post.

Giuliani did not make an official endorsement because he won't be doing any campaigning on Trump's behalf.
Giuliani, who was the city's mayor when it was attacked on September 11th, made a failed bid for the 2008 Republican nomination.
He has made several previous public appearances with Trump, including at a golf tournament last summer after Trump announced his candidacy.
The New York primary will be held April 19.
Trump leads the GOP polls in the state at 53 percent, according to the Real Clear Politics polling average, with Ohio Governor John Kasich at 22 percent and Cruz trailing at 18.6 percent.

Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton in a statistical dead heat in new NBC poll showing close November match-up

  • There's just two points separating Hillary Clinton from Republican Donald Trump according to a new general election tracking poll
  • The poll also shows the discord among Republicans with only about half of Trump and Ted Cruz's vowing to support the other GOP candidate
  • Primary polling has Trump comfortably ahead of his Republican rivals, while Clinton bests Bernie Sanders by six points

A new poll from NBC News shows a highly competitive race between frontrunners Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton come November.

In a head-to-head match-up, the new NBC News/SurveyMonkey Weekly Election Tracking poll shows Clinton with 38 percent support and Trump with 36 percent support from registered voters, for a difference of two, which is just slightly outside the poll's error estimate of plus or minus 1.3 percent.

Another 16 percent would prefer to vote for a third-party candidate, while 8 percent would stay home.

Sen. Ted Cruz, who has the second-most amount of delegates on the Republican side, is also competitive against Clinton, though the race isn't nearly as tight.

In a hypothetical Clinton-Cruz match-up, the Texas senator receives 32 percent, while Clinton scores five points higher at 37 percent.

Additionally, another 19 percent would vote for a third-party candidate, while 10 percent would sit at home on Election Day.

The poll showcased the divisive nature of the GOP primary, which is likely to be settled at a contested convention in Cleveland in July.

Of respondents who said they supported Cruz, only a little more than half said they would support Trump in the general election – 56 percent.

A full quarter, 26 percent, said they would look for a third-party candidate, though Cruz's Republicans would not really drift to Clinton, with only 6 percent saying they'd support the former secretary of state.

Nine percent would not vote at all.

Trump's supporters shared a similar sentiment.

Of those supporting The Donald now, 53 percent would switch their allegiance to Cruz if he was on the general election ballot, while 28 percent would seek a third-party solution.

A slightly bigger chunk, 15 percent, would stay home.

While Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders has suggested that the one-on-one general election match-ups should keep him in the game, this particular poll didn't test them, as the reality of the situation is that the senator would have to make up a nearly insurmountable Clinton delegate lead.

Nationally in the NBC poll he trails Clinton as well, with Clinton at 49 percent to Sanders' 43 percent, the new numbers show.

And on the Republican side, nationally, Trump remains way ahead.

The Donald stands at 46 percent, while Cruz receives 30 percent.

Ohio Gov. John Kasich is down two points at 16 percent.

spin it all you want and quote whatever poll you want. Even you can see that there's no stopping Trump. You might not like it. You might even hate it. But its happening whether you like it or not. It's a movement like no other. Accept it. Deal with with. Go to therapy if you think it will help. The democrats won't stand a chance against him in the general.

My guess is that you'll be voting for Trump to be re-elected in 2020.

Drumpf will get slaughtered in the general. I didn't believe it, thought he could possibly overcome it with his Cult of Personality, and the fact that Hillary is a pathetic candidate, but the numbers are too consistent and convincing. I think even you know that. It's not a sure thing as what would happen to Lyin Ted, but it's pretty close to as much of a certainty at this point.

You sound like one of those guys who bet the against the GS Warriors all year.

Those that continuously call the inevitable demise of Trump must love being wrong. To hear someone say he will be slaughtered in the general is laughable. Ya we all hear those experts on the networks repeating it over and over every day since June last year and obviously there are those that will repeat it. As you clearly demonstrate.

The facts tell a different story and have so for months. He is more popular now than ever. He is closer to the republican nomination than ever. Every week for the next several weeks he will be closer than ever until eventually he becomes the nominee.

Then he will start working on Hillary. Before you know it, he will be favored and the 45th president and the country will have a leader it's been desperately missing.

The FACTS, the only facts we have, are polls, and they consistently show he will get slaughtered. He is Sacramento to the Democrat's Golden State. His unfavorables are too high, the disdain of women for him too strong. What's happening in the GOP Primaries, dominated by a small amount of diehard wingnuts, has no relevance to a General Election.
