Ever hear the saying there are lies, damn lies, and statistics, classic case! Height/Hand size has little to do with free throws. Big men who played a SKILL game, ie being able to hit a jump shot, have excellent free throw percentages! SKILLED big men such as Karem, David Robinson, Akeem, KG, and Duncan are able to hit free throws. Big men who relied on height, size, and athletic ability are not good free throw shooters!
LOL!!! You just hit the nail on the head! Karem's and David Robinson's hands got smaller during a game! While poor Shaq and company hands get bigger during a game!!
Doesnt make both of you any less of toolbags for thinking hand size makes u a bad free throw shooter. Whats kawai leonards hand size? Do dumb
That guy supports hitler?First off, I never said anything about someones hand size. I don't care why people miss free throws. Regardless, hacking someone completely away from the play just to put them at the foul line is horrible basketball and terrible to watch. Lot of rules are in place so people don't take advantage of them and make the game boring. No reason teams should be intentionally fouling players to force them to make free throws. If they catch the ball, then foul them to put them on the line instead of letting them get a bucket.
That guy supports hitler?
You are just proving the point Vitterd and I are trying to make without even realizing it. That the bigger the player the harder it is to make free throws. You just spouted off the names of the big men who shoot the best from the free throw line. The best shooters out of the best big men in the history of the game. The collective % of those players you mention is about 72% give or take a few points.
If you take all the players 6'2" or smaller, their free throw % is much higher the 72% and that includes all the crappy shooters as well. So even when you cherry pick the best shooters among the big men, they still are worse shooters then even an average guard, don't even think of comparing them to the best shooting guards.
Kareem 72%
Admiral 73%
Duncan 69.5%
Olajuwon 71%
Those are the best out of the great centers, if you factor in the poor shooters it's probably closer to 60%. If a guard shoots 72% it's considered really really bad.
I don't know how anyone can even argue that it's not easier to shoot free throws for smaller players, it's just retarded.
