I don't know. Dale was always all up in people's business and Hershel is just going with the flow.

I know Herschel is just a vet but I'm not sure about his medical advice. First he said that they had to amputate that kids leg when he was stuck on the fence (Rick just pushed his leg off and he was fine. . .) and then last night he barely looks at Dale and pronounces that there's nothing to be done for him, he cant be saved. Why not at least try to stop the bleeding. . .

I know. I know.

Remember, Herschel was a veterinarian, not a doctor. The zombie ripped Dale's mid-section open and pulled out his innards. Dale's fate was sealed, even if they had a skilled surgeon and the necessary instruments.

Though I didn't read the actual spoilers because I didn't want to know, IO9 said that The Walking Dead is going to get much more dark and insane. Not surprising considering Dale is gone now. Looking forward to it.

To be honest, with the exception of a couple of shocking scenes, I don't think this second season is very good. The first season was much better imo. It's almost turned into a soap opera with an occasional zombie showing it's ugly head. That's another thing that bothers me about the show. What are these zombies really capable of? Why are these people not contaminated when they get zombie guts and blood all over them, but become instant zombies if bitten? That makes absolutely no sense to me. As far as Dale getting killed off the other night, good riddance. I thought he was a very weak do-gooder character who just had a vendetta against Shane. Other than that he was fairly worthless. Rick is much more the moral conscious of the group than Dale ever was, because he is in thre center of the action where all of the right and wrong decisions are made. This could of course change in further episodes. And I actually hope they do. The more badass these people become, the more I like it. And is anybody getting sick of the farm? They need to stop whining and complaining and get their asses moving on to further adventures. It's what made the first season great. It was a road show. And they never knew what they were going to run into along the way.

I agree 1st season was more exciting. But I am still happy with the direction it has gone in. I hope Kidman is right and they leave the farm soon. Even though it would be realistic to hide out on a farm, I want to see more action

From what I've heard, the storylines from the novels were much more graphic, and Carl would have already killed Shane by this point. I agree that it is comic book and not everything is going to make sense. But I would still like to see what the Zombies can and cannot do. They seem to just show up sporadically here and there to drive the storylines with the humans. I would like for them to dwell a little more on them. And what's the deal with the token black guy? What his name Dogg? He mysteriously disappears and then reappears in other episodes, only when they need help killing or burning a zombie.

What the fuck dude? Did you just reveal a major event in the series? You know most of us haven't read the comics, right?

Fuck. How about a spoiler warning next time?

Dude...I haven't read the series either. And everything about this series has been very loosely based and hasn't gone by the book. So chill, there is no guarantee anyone is going to die....or live

yea the comic books are much more graphic. i dont see the show going the way the comics did as there were lots of rape, cannibals, torture/mutilation in the comic book series.

First, I know it's a long way into the series to say this and Second, I do like to watch the show, BUT it would be a lot better if someone can give me a plausible reason as to how this could occur... What I mean is that if the only way that you become a walker is by being bitten/injured by them, there is no way it would spread to the extent the show portrays.... Walkers are slow & unintelligent, have no super strength or any quality to even give them half a chance at spreading...

This was my main beef with the story too. I realize that it's comic book. But I would still like to see a little plausibilty here. Maybe dedicate an episode of the backstory of where it started and how it spread so fast without apparent means of doing so. The Zombies also seem to be of radically different strengths. In one scene a boy is able to get away from the grasp of one, while in another a zombie has the strenth to rip apart Dale's chest.

If i recall they hinted in one episode that a bite/injury isnt required to get infected. Shane finds two zombified dudes with no bite marks or injuries.

i read up on season 3 (for the tv show), i think it will be much more like what most people in this thread are looking for action wise.

as for the zombies, i dont really think its that unrealistic especially in the beginning. you would imagine it would be spread so fast in the beginning because people have no idea whats going on, esp in high population areas. plus people seem to be so lack luster on the show, they always have their guard down and are prone to easily being picked off.
