I really didn't care for any of it. It wasn't one of TWD finer moments. Personally I'm getting tired of the Carol and Morgan shit. They also tried too hard to build up the tension with the road blocks every direction they tried. Then they used the oldest trick in the book from the horror movies and had them run through the woods listening to that annoying whistling, right to where all of the bad guys happen to be waiting. I also don't like a show taking the lazy way out and the "wait for 6 months and then we'll tell you who got whacked." It would have been far more impactful to have seen the death and then everyone would have talked about for 6 months instead of pissing off the masses of your audience and showing an RV driving in circles and a ton of commercials for 80 minutes. And then quickly introducing Negan before a weak cliffhanger ending...

Agree

Unforgivable imo

I will continue to watch the show because I'm too invested. But a lot of the excitement is gone for me.

Just watched the first 2 eps of season 1. This show is not for me .

As a matter of fact I cut it off when they were spreading guts on each other about halfway through the 2nd

Your loss

But seriously everyone has their opinion. I can't stand game of thrones. Couldn't even make it through the first season but a lot of people swear by that show.

IMO twd is the best show in the history of television. Ive never been as invested in any tv characters in my life like I am the people on this show. The intensity and panic built up on which one of them that negan was going to kill was excruciating. I don't think any movie,tv show, or other entertainment outlet has ever made me feel quite that way before.

Part of it for me too is just the tradition of watching it every Sunday night with my wife. We started watching the show when we were dating 6 years ago when it first came out and haven't missed an episode together since.

All I know is Fear the Walking Dead better get better or I won't get past episode 2. I'm already getting tired of the snowflakes on that show. Time to kill off some emotional wrecks. I have no interest in watching a junkie dry out or teenage angst. Time to start getting the zombies to eat some dead weight...

Whats your fav show chop?

24 was a great show except for season 6.
I loved the first 2 seasons of LOST then it started sucking.
Blacklist is solid so far.

Breakimg bad and Better Call Saul is way up my list right now .

Breaking Bad is neck and neck wirh 24 and Better Call Saul is starting to get as good as Breaking Bad.

I will not watch any show that does not have a continual story line. What I mean is it has to be a show where the next episode picks right up where the last one left off.

I hate shows that start over with unrelated stuff week to week.

This is the main reason I wanted to give the walking dead a chance because it does have a continual story line.

But the zombie thing is too much to overcome for me.

Watching people spread dead people's guts over each other is just not my thing.

I don't fault anyone for liking it.

From what little I saw I can tell the show was very well done and I'm sure the story is good for people into that type of thing but it's just not my cup of tea.

Reading the first 2 or 3 pages of this thread it seems the show gets into a lot more dialog then it did at the very beginning .

I consider that a good thing. I like dialog .

Maybe I will try to get myself through 1 or 2 more to see if I can look past the zombie stuff I don't like.

Some of the other things was kinda interesting like the main characters wife starting sexual relations with his ex partner because she probably thinks her husband is dead.

I wonder how that's going to play out once she learns her husband is still alive .

Will she take him back?
Will she stay with the other guy?

Will the other guy try to kill her husband so he can keep her?

Thats the kind of thing I enjoyed the 1.5 eps I watched . Just could not stand the guts thing.

Damn I wish I could be in your shoes to see it all again for the first time. The characters are what makes this show so great. Their relationships, what they make it through together, how they develop.

I could discuss this show for hours but at the risk of spoiling something I will refrain.

I binge watched till season 4 and bailed. The show suffers from cliches and bad writing. Horribly overrated.

Hey KON...

I dont think is that overrated, I am their #1 fan but I have been getting pissed at the writers mainly because they seem to toss the ball at the most important moments. They create conflicts out of nowherere, characters behaving like idiots... a recent example, when Rick and Daryl lost the truck full of food cause theyd rather chase Jesus than feed their families / Daryl and Rosita willing to take the ONLY doctor out in a mission, result Doc gets killed, Daryl blames himself and seeks revenge and causes all of them to be captured by the Saviours... I mean, thats just lazy writing. I could have done it better I bet my life, make it way MORE interesting, and LESS stupid.

Cliches are there, unfortunately the series are controlled by AMC so even the Director doesnt have total creative freedom, thats why the show has changed Directors twice. Frank Darabont (S1-S2), Glenn Mazzara (S3) and Scott Gimple (S4-S5-S6). Other than that the acting is amazing and it really lives up to its full potential after season 4. Dialogues are bipólar, sometimes amazing and other times just plain stupid. The camera work and the effects, for the most part A+, but Ive seen some zombie kills and zombie bites that look really sloppy for a show with that budget.

When a series changes direction so much, the show will suffer, Gimple managed to put the series back on track until this season IMO, this season is really awesome... If would have to rate seasons:

Season 6
Season 1
Season 3
Season 5
Season 4
Season 2

The reason I defend this series so much its because of the moral subjects it touches, IMO we are living in really fucked times and we dont know what disaster is coming but most agree something bad is gonna happen in the next 30 years... IMHO, anything that prepares you better for living out of your comfort zone and defies the notions that you currently have aboud good and evil is worth watching, is not something you watch cause you necessarily enjoy it, but because it teaches valuable lessons and could make you think twice about a stupid decision if you were presented with an apocalyptic scenario. Call me crazy, but I think the end is always closer, and it could be terrorism, WWIII, bio weapons or climate collapse, whatever, you can use the same survival strategy for almost any scenario.

If they would have substituted the zombies for ISIS members this show would have been awesome.
The story line seems well done but I can't get past the dead people walking thing and the guts.

Chop, I have had many friends/family tell me they wouldn't like a show about Zombies. While there is some of that, you could take away all the Zombies and it would be a great show. Actually many times I forget the show is about Zombies.

I didn't like Better Call Saul after the first couple episodes but I keep hearing how great it is so I need to get Season 1 and start over.

pocket, ill probably give it another shot and binge watch the rest. I didn't like how characters would act like idiots and many of the problems would be solved if characters talked to each other.

This annoys me in every show & movie -- where a mix-up could've been avoided with 10 seconds of conversation, but the conversation never takes place.

Then again, think about personal relationships, and office screw-ups. How often do people not bother to take those 10 seconds, and that ultimately leads to confusion and miscommunication.

Even in the zombie world, I can imagine a situation like this:

"Wait, is Bob going down to the river? He knows we just spotted 4-5 zombies, right? Maybe I should let him know........ahhhhhhh, why bother. I mean, we're living in a zombie apocalypse! Everybody knows, you gotta be cautious. Bob has survived for 15 months, I'm sure he'll be ok."
