Well, guess the thread itself deserves a comment. Normally selections are for the handicapping area. Just goes to prove, "It's good to be King." Even if it is a sports betting forum.:manwh:

On the concept of it being a great spot. Well, I am sure with the right info, you would be better served percentage wise to invest in a unknown college hoops game, where you have info or facts no one else has yet. Would think World Series game #3 is a high profile event, and you cannot get a sneaker in.:heh:

Maybe even better an NBA weak line as they always are start of season. A couple of NCAA college games moved a good 6 points last week. Just not a lot of intrigue or suspense releasing

As far as my opinion on the game? Pedro still has the velocity, but not the movement or the location. Even teams like the Devil Rays who he normally dominated hit him very hard. He is not loading up with K's, and you can get the bat on the ball, which was tough earlier in his career. He is the name/public pitcher by far here. They do list pitchers don't they? So Suppan on the other side is a shmuck. Been hammered at home, bad regular season. Playoffs are a new season. Game #7 effort was very impressive, facing Clemens, in a win or stay home game. Have not been impressed with any of Pedro's last few outings, did he win any? Did he dominate like days of old? No.
Slight pitching advantage to Cards.

Defense. Yes they do play defense, and some games it is meaningful, just not in Boston, where they overcome it. To say these guys stink defensively is probably accurate. Or did before putting Ortiz at first. Another even bigger problem, the outfield. Manny is just a clown in Left. Damon is decent in Fenway, but when those gaps are expanded, he lacks range, badly. Red Sox have struggled in these deep outfield parks. Cabrera is looking sharp at short, but those corners will be tested. They will drag a bunt down the line, squeeze and hit and run. This is a huge weakness that probably will be exploited. The cards play the best defense out there. They made one error in the NL series, if I remember correctly. It was a throwing error to third, where you have to E someone when runner advances. Beltran and his speed are a weapon. But Boston possesses very little base path speed, do not sacrifice, and put little pressure on the pitcher. Pedro, on the other hand, has been distracted by baserunners, even rattled. Another problem that compounds the weak corners. Large advantage Cardinals, at home.

Bats/offense. Red Sox still scoring well, even without Manny driving home the runs. Bottom of lineup very effective, getting on base and scoring. Also hitting with men in scoring. But in Fenway, they hit much better than again, on the road. No green monster, short porch foul poles. They will need to get baserunners, for the power to bring them home. A huge advantage in Fenway, somewhat negated here. People say there is no home field advantage in baseball. During the regular season, that does have some merit. But in the post season? Of the last 16 games played, home team has now won 14. Some by luck, others not. But there is a reason for this. The Cards are stinking it up in the heart of the order. But, same thing happened in Astros. They just hit better at home. Advantage Red Sox, for current form, Might switchup on road. Just do not see Boston playing small ball.

Momentum/intangibles. Obvious Boston Red Sox are huge here. To comeback from dead, and now winners of 6 straight, they look formidable. Not sure Yankees were up to the task, as they fell apart after 3. I always feel momentum is huge and they have it now. Cards taken to the limit by Astros, same as Red Sox, but no miracle comeback for them. Not sure why Cards played so bad in game #2. But to rally back 3 times in game one, may have taken a little wind from them. However, Cards in a do or die, at home. Those called strikes may not be there for Pedro. And if baserunners do get there, the funs begins. LaRussa called great game in #1, #2 was a lost cause. Francona barely has to make a decision. Momentum versus urgency is no edge.

Bullpens. Boston has been great, after game #3 Yankees. So has Foulke. No question there. Pen let Cards down in game one. But starting pitching has dug them deep holes, not the pen. If the game is tied, or close late, I would rather have Boston's pen, right now. Advantage Red Sox.

The price, about -1.20 seems fair. This is a classic public against sharps battle. The heavy pocketed gentlemen are going Cards. The public is all Pedro and the team of destiny. I agree, Boston is the team of destiny, the curse will be lifted. However, we have a large amount of revenue lost if the Cards lose tonight, and we most likely have a sweep. And the loyal Cards fans are just as passionate about their team as the Boston fans are. Let me ask you this, what does Major League Baseball want?

Here is my script: Cards against the wall, have to win game 3. The next two are a split. Then back to Boston to clinch, with my 20-1 MVP candidate Curt Schilling on the mound, for a legendary Willis Reed type of performance. Obviously he is effective, albiet bloody, against everyone in postseason. So, for years to come, everyone will be talking about the Red Sox doing something no team has ever done before, comeback form an 0-3 deficit, forcing a game #7, then winning it. Marching on to the World Series, vanquishing those hated Yankees in the process. Curt Schilling bounces back from bad ankle garbage outing, to back to back gems after surgery to lock in tendon. He heroically takes the hill in game #6, and clinches the World Series, for the long suffering Red Sox fans, earning MVP in the process. This will be talked about for years to come. Does anyone remeber anything about last year's series? Nope. This will remake the Fall Classic. :heh:

Yes, he is a great fielding CF. He does lack a cannon fo an arm. I should have said, he is less effective in a larger outfield, knowing he has to back up Manny, boy does he know that. I will stick with decent. I think his best attribute is the balls he gets to, he makes the play. Unlike Manny, who could ruin any tough play and make a routine one look difficult. I think there are many starting centerfielders out there with much better range. Especially in the National League, where you need it. Too bad you and the powers to be made a bunch of disgruntled posters in the first 10 pages. Actually had the potential to be a great thread. Did the inside source work out?:toothless You likee my script? No dead innocent bystnders please. Poor kid was the ultimate wrong place and wrong time victim. Do you think she was tossing bottles or lighting fires? I feel for her family.:neenee:

The funny thing about Manny he will occasionally make a great catch you think he has no shot at...thank goodness that miscue in game 1 was not the game clincher...
